I had a lump in my rectum years ago. I showed the doctor and he gave me a round of antibiotics which cleared it up. A lump could be minor or a serious thing. Please see your primary care doctor.
um hi... this is embarrassing but i need to find out whats happening to me.
i have this bump near my anal it hurts sometimes when i sit. and when i touch it, it also hurts. i had it before once for 3 days. then it left and came back and hasn't left after a week or so. when i go to the bathroom i sometimes see blood on the toilet paper. its not discolored in any way. but earlier today i was trying to figure out what was happening to me so i searched it up. and there was this lady saying how her husband was suffering and there was this black thing on it. i thought i was in the clear but when i went to take a shower i wanted to see if it was discolored in anyway and there was this black pore like thing on the bumb. the bump isn't hard but isn't soft. its kinda in-between. im a virgin so i don't think it was caused by sex. im still young and i don't want to see a doctor about this. my parents are unaware of the bump as well. please. if anyone knows what this is PLEASE tell me. because im becoming very frightened!

This thing is a pain in the ass, and I did have it once a year ago, and a second time just since this morning. It appears as a discolored lump...or two, about the size of pea (if not a little bigger...a big pea?).
Let me tell you by experience, it takes roughly 2 weeks to stop being painful.
It heals faster if you don't do things to disturb it, so things that make it hurt.
The primary cause of it would be...spending to much time sitting on your ass, sweating in a warm comfortable chair for hours just doesn't seem like the right thing to do. I suspect your all World of Warcaft players, you younger lot.

I have a bump about this size ( ) maybe a lil smaller or bigger. It is also below the skin. It is not painful and I have had it for around a month. Im 17 and am wondering what it is. I've had no pain unless im checking it out to see if its shrunk between 4-5 days then it becomes somewhat sore from the very little contact done to it. Ideas anyone?
I HAVE A RELIEF!!!!...
i have the same problem and have had so a few times now... i have now found something that removes the pain!!!
it seems to make sense now after reading Heidi's comment...
Dettol (liquid disinfectant for the skin), i use a cotton ball with Dettol on it after my shower & after i use the bathroom (if needed) this seems to remove the pain altogether... Heidi must be right as an infection... :-)
The lump still remains as time will heal this but the pain is only problem & now its gone...
Hope this helps you all :-)

The lump on the ass is known as a perianal abscess.
It is a extremely painfull lump on your ass.
the pain varies for different individuals.
It can bleed and puss can be excreted without you even noticing.
I was also confused and wondering what the lump is but now I know exactly what it is.
Some docters say it is caused by hair while others say it is not caused by hair and that no one knows the exact cause.
You have to go to a docter as the infection can spread inside of your anus and can be fatal, this must not be taken lightly.
I thought it would go away but it got worse and havent been to work for 4 days.
Depending on how severe it is, prescribed antibiotics may help.
I just come out of surgery and can now walk and sit normally without any pain even though the wound is still healing.
it appeared out of nowhere and i had it for about 2 weeks before it was removed.
As time progressed it became worse and thus had to be drained.
A surgeon made an incisian and drained it, i was discharged the next day.
The examination is embarrassing and painful as additional checks(docter puts finger in your anus) have to be done to ensure that the infection is not spreading.
Seeing a doctor is worth it cause you will get proper help, get a professional opinion.

i had this before, i went to the doctor and he said it was a blood clot in the anus, he cut it open and removed it, gave me 2 stiches and sent me on my way, but know i have it again. (two years later) i hate this.
Hi,
I am a doctor and I have been reading the posts on this subject and I couldn't help but feel a little concerned about people coming on the internet for diagnosis of their illnesses. I am not saying whether it is wrong or right but I felt I should perhaps give a little guidance on the subject of anorectal problems.
What the majority have described in these posts is a perianal haematoma. As described before a blood blister arising around the anal opening. It is nothing to worry about and heals on its own in a few days to weeks. However if you have an anal mass with pain and it is causing you severe pain then please see your doctor as an early diagnosis of a perianal haematoma could easily be resolved with a simple procedure to remove the clot. The classical symptoms are: onset over a few hours, initially just slight discomfort then a small mass around the anal opening, pain on sitting and moving but this can vary from person to person.
The most serious cause of an anal swelling/mass is what is called a ano-rectal abscess which can present similar to perianal haematoma but i stress this...if you start to develop a fever or have night sweats or any general symptoms then you must!!!!! see a doctor asap...these are not going to heal on their own and you need emergency surgical treatment otherwise it can result in septicaemia i.e. general infection and even death.
Hope this helps you guys out...

Sam - thank you for your post. I wanted to clarify that the lump, next to my anal opening is not discolored (I looked at it), it is a little larger than a pea - does not look like blood - nor is there blood in my stool and it is a mild discomfort. Maybe a little itchy. I also can move it under my skin. I am very athletic, completely regular, rarely constipated with occasional diarrea, but rarely. Could it be a tumor or do you think what I described is it perianal hematoma?
I will make a doctors appointment, but I need to be able to sleep until my appointment so any reassurance would be nice.
Thanks for your post again, you did provide the most useful feedback.
- Catherine.

Your post is identical to what I was going to say, except I don't have any pains (yet) (well I did like a week ago about) and the cold thing (I had one like a couple months ago).
I think you need to see your doctor better safe than sorry better you know what is happening because
i am sure it could be addressed by a doctor just see a doctor i hope you feel better soon .

I just got rid of a external hemmorhoid on the right side of my anus that was coming and going for like 2 weeks. I had a bowl movement last night and afterwards the left side of my anus felt slightly tender, but there was no bump or anything. Now its the morning and theres a slight lump there smaller than a pea I believe and its still tender, almost like a bruise would feel like I guess. Did I get another hemmorhoid? This sucks.
I have been getting this after having (sometimes) less than pleasureable anal sex for many years. it usually hurts for about 2-3 days, and then it slowly swells down and is fine after that. it's nothing serious, i know through experience, and i'm also a medical student.
hi. i have a discolored pea-sized thing on my anus. i read all of the posts and i think i know what it is from (sitting on my ass for HOURS, says one of the posts). i was just curious, would it be a smart thing to pop it? o.o
