I've been having the same problems listed. I am on birth control and my partner uses protection as well. They began to hurt 3 days AFTER my period. This has happened before but the pain usually went away within a week. My next period is due in one more week and I haven't really had the time to notice how long this pain has stayed - been way too busy with school and exams.
The thing is ladies, a lot of people have mentioned reasons as to why: Stress, caffeine intake, birth control, stimulation, ovulation, fatty diets, not enough water intake, etc. Just look at the things you've done in the past month that would lead to the pain. Personally, my pain started after my period (which was a normal period and on time) and before intercourse. I recently started to feel a little crampy and instantly thought "Oh God.. I'm pregnant..." and then looked at my pills and noticed I'm currently ovulating.
Try the quick fixes like peroxide and vasaline or lotion, lukewarm teabags (which helps women who are breastfeeding with nipple pain) if you have a partner who, ahem, enjoys them more than you do right now. If your symptoms don't subside, the obvious next step towards the solution is booking an appointment with your doctor. But try ruling out all the other factors before this step. If you truly believe you may be pregnant or are super paranoid like I am, take an at home test to calm your nerves and factor that out.
As for the younger girls who are virgins on this forum, it is normal to feel pain (whether slight or intense) while ovulating and before your period. This pain however should subside, and there is no reason to think it's abnormal.
For this overall topic, I found peppermint foot cream helped a lot. It didn't permanently take the pain away, but it did help to numb it and cool it down from the swelling.
Hope this helps!
