I had an abdominal one back in Aug- I was having mid/upper stomach pain - but during Ultrasound pain on right side under ribcage started - and STILL CONTINUES-almost 4 months later. It just feels like there's a 'know or fist' there when I'm sitting especially....

Yes, I had an ultrasound yesterday and it was so painful. On top of that the tech did not have much sympathy after a while.

Am in so much pain. Ultrasound for liver and gall bladder. I told the tech that it hurt but she kept on saying it was" almost over" .....for half a damn hour. I didnt think my side felt very tender and that there really wasnt anything to worry about until this procedure. !!!! Hoping all is AOK inside and that the tech was just muscular and didnt know her own strength!

How is your pain today? No one is updating their posts and curious to the long term effects they are having since ultrasound?

My pain starts the evening of the sonogram Has happemed with nearly every one - abdominal, pelvic, cardio , and the worst so far was sholder. Had echocardiogram monday and pain and inflammation and heat sensation awful now wednesday night. A few people in their posts mentioned the technician pushing down hard but I don't think that is the cause of the pain at least not for me. I think it is the ultrasound waves themselves that generate the heat and inflammation. When you think about how higher energy ultrasounds are used for treatment to actually break up stones, one realizes how powerful they can be. Ultrasound machines now have much more energy than they once did. Tge higher the energy the sharper the picture. . When ultrasounds were tested for safety it was back many years ago when the power was much lower. One really wonders if they would be deemed safe if they were tested now. There are some posts and sites about how pelvic ultrasound in pregnancy is no longer safe. I am a very thin woman. I don't know that makes a difference. Incidentally I asked the technician if she would turn down the gain on the machine which would lower the power because of my reactions and she said yes but I think she lied - am pretty sure of it - and was just humoring me. When they actually do turn down the gain I have less symptoms afterwards. The worst was the shoulder and no one believed me. It was so agonizing I was unable to move my shoulder enough to put a shirt on and actually stayed home half naked until I could move my shoulder for a few days. The shoulder was also red and swollen and I had a fever. I did not want to go to the ER though by ambulance because I thought they would give me another ultrasound to see what was wrong! So right now I am not a happy camper I do not know how long til my chest and nearby areas feel better. They feel so hot! Btw, i refused a liver scan that looks for fibrosis. I forget its name- something like fibrosure or something. When i looked it up it was xtremely high energy ultrasoind repeated over and over. Got into argument with hepatologist who would not order blood testd as an alternative. Would be curious if anyone else has their pain start later. (Oh, one mire tidbit. For years, after a pelvic ultrasound, the first period i had after would be massive bleeding. I always thought coincidence)
