My husband (57) is enduring the same thing. He just returned home from an 8 week stay in a long term recovery center with a Picc Line, feeding tube and jaundice. His potassium was barely registered. White cell count through the roof. He was, according to the doctors, on deaths door. This man has 9 lives and used 4 so far. This episode was the worst. For 4 years he is in and out of the hospital every 2 months for a week at a time. This time, so much worse. He's had a Stent removed and replaced. He's lost significant weight. Now he reminds me of Patrick Swayze in his last days. Just an essence of the man he once was. He promised to never drink again. For 3 weeks he was trying to keep busy at home and work, drinking massive amounts of iced coffee. He promised our children that he would never drink again. I noticed 4 days ago that he was back to his usual awful alcoholic self. Although he's trying to hide it, I found the empty bottles. So, its just a matter of time, and maybe he will survive the next episode....
