Hi! I have been on bc pills for the last 7 years. 3 years ago, I experienced pain on my left rib cage radiating to my lower back and up to my spine. I vommited like 5 to 10 times in that single attack. The pain lasted for 4 hours. I cannot sleep because laying down exacerbates the pain i feel. Googled and saw it was pancreatitis. From then on, I cut back on fatty foods. I have to drink soda after a heavy meal to help ne burp, because if i cannot burp i will feel flatulence that wouldnt exit my backdoor and this would trigger another attack. My attacks would come by every month or so but most often when I feel stressed from work. Tried everything with diet but still the attacks went on. 3 months ago, I TOOK OUT BC PILLS FROM MY MONTHLY ROUTINE and I have had no pancreatic attacks since then.

first you need to avoid refined sugar for a month in order you can feel the big difference in your body.. try stevia liquid or powder as sweetener. try to eat more vegetables. eat chia seeds and other peas daily. soak first the seed food in order to eliminate the substances that will cause arthritis.. try not to eat meat in a month. go with tofu, fish, beans, whole grains..

Having diarrhoea after acute pancreatitics....

Even i suffered diarrhea a few times after being treated for acute pancreatitics but my doctor suggested it has nothing to do with pancreatitics. As per his view it was may be due to irritable bowel syndrome.

However i have one question of my own. It's almost 9 month after having acute pancreatitics. It was an alcoholic pancreatitics. So the most important thing for me was to avoid alcohol completely, probably not in this life. So my question is, can i have a normal diet now. Normal diet may be anything that a normal person do.

PS: according to my last endoscopy ultrasound, doctor impression was that i have chronic pancreatitics that is resolving.

My husband is suffering from acute Pancreatitis for the past 15 years with an unknown cause. He now has chronic Pancreatitis. In the previous years he used to get only when he had party meal or fatty meal with deep fried .. but now it is occurring more frequently. Over the years with several iterations and modifications we have settled down with this diet after each attack or pain
This is the diet he follows when he gets pain...
Water and Gatorade(avoid citrus flavours) for the first day
Watermelon for the second day
Watermelon, Pineapple and Pappaya for the third day ( they supposed to help in the healing of the pancreas)
Slowly progresses to Vegetable soup ( mainly Zuchini later progress to carrot , green beans spices that can be added are cinnamon, salt, ginger, cilantro or parsely )
Slowly move to plain carbs (to be easy on digestion) white rice smashed or pureed in blender with soups
As you tolerate progress to normal food ( My husband, to progress to normal food is about 5 to 7 days)

Note: This is working for him now.. but each persons adjustability may be different based on the damage to the pancreas... The key to this is track(log it) all your episodes and what you eat after each episode and how your body reacts to the intake you will be able to better manage it next time

With the above diet my husband manages without hospital visit but with guidance of the doctor. He usually takes his blood work in a local lab to confirm it is pancreatitis( and not a gas related pain or other pain) and goes on this diet

He was diagnosed as Idiopathic Pancreatitis (unknown cause)

I am sorry you are not feeling well. I have had chronic pancreatitis for 20 years now. There is a test called an ercp. That test is where the doctor puts a scope down through your mouth and in to the pancreas. That is how I was diagnosed .They put you to sleep for the test so there is no discomfort while having the test. I wish you the best. Carol

I have had chronic pancreatitis for 20 years now. I never drank alcohol but still got it. I have been in and out of the hospital with it many times. My doctor told me many years ago to limit the fat. I only eat 20 grams of fat per day. It is hard but it does help me to avoid more acute attacks. I know that ercp test has brought on an acute episodes every time I have that procedure done. The pain on a daily basis is bad. Medication helps with that though. I take one day at a time otherwise I become depressed thinking about how it has affected my life negatively. I am 62 years old and started with pancreatitis at age 42. I wish you and your daughter well . Take care ~ Carol

I had my first pancreatitis attack in November 2016, this was caused by alcohol ,I spent 9 days in the hospital, I had a alcohol relapse and ended up back in the hospital in February for 7 days, I haven't had a drink since Feb 13, I did have another pancreatitis episode 2 weeks ago that had me back in the hospital for 4 days because I had to much butter in my spaghetti noodles(I think), and I'm having another attack since Thurs night I don't know why I'm having this one but I'm trying to stay home and stay on full liquid diet which for me is alot of water and some chicken broth, the most important thing for me is staying away from the alcohol. That is the most important thing for me. But for foods I still need to figure that out I just know no butter for me and no fried foods. ( I used to love fried chicken, and mozzarella sticks and noodles with butter and parmasean cheese, I can't have any of that any more). Thanks for reading this if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

I was hospitalized for one week with acute pancreatitis late January. I did have my gall bladder removed. I knew any kind of alcohol was off limits, and low fat diet as everyone mentions. I am now on nutrisystem, because the meals are small and the food is low fat. It seems to work as I have not had a recent attack. Although, I admit I am very tired. I am thinking of supplementing the nutrisystem with vitamins.

My son ended up in Icu 3 times, numerous wash outs and a long road ahead of himself. All this dye to alcohol consumption which took years to evolve.
My opinion is to look it with your drinking, meaning to cut it out all together.
If your lived sit in on your recovery you will know what I am talking about.
