This was an amazing answer, well to me at least. If I drink too frequently, I often wake with numbness at the side of my face, throat, temple. Annoying and worrying. Read your answer, shrugged my shoulders thinking can't do any harm, took a tablespoon of rapeseed oil, and wham, within ten minutes starting to feel better. Thanks so much.
I read a similar inquiry on a different site. The question pertained to partial "numbness" to the extent of slight tingling in the face while drinking what would typically be considered a hefty, but not irresponsible amount of beer. What was suggested was that there are many nutrients necessary for proper nerve interaction, and that what might be thrown off by the alcohol is the balance of those nutrients. I think the response pin-pointed niacin but I could be wrong. It's a form of alcoholic neuropathy and isn't necessarily permanent but, again, just points toward imbalanced to improper nerve communication by the alcohol. So the alleviation of that might be either don't drink very much (whatever that means) because it throws off your already imbalanced nutrient supply; or try supplementing those minerals and feel out at what point you feel fine when otherwise you would have gotten the tingling face. Could, be niacin, could be potassium or sodium.. etc (There were a few other nutrients listed that I hadn't associated with nerve signaling so I don't remember the rest.)
