PCOS does interfere with pregnancy tests I was three months pregnant and not even expecting but am blessed to have my child. I was taking pregnancy tests and they were negative so was thinking I wasn't even tho I had symptoms. Finally being three months pregnant I can tell something was up... Went to the doctor got a blood test and was pregnant even tho the pregnancy tests said I wasn't. Blessed with my child and trying to have another. Good Luck..
I was diagnosed with pcos at the AGR of 18 I have had 4 children since then but recently I had a two day period and was put on metfirmin again and I haven't had anything but cramping I have had a period every month going fro 29 -34 day cycles
Two pregnancies and both showed negative, numerous times. Only a blood test showed positive and I have pcos. Is there a connection, I'm not sure.
iv'e been on metformin for pcos no more cyst for gonna be 2 years in October 2016 im on 2000mg , the longest cycle has been 60 days the lowest was 17 days im now on day 70 went in last week for a blood test which was neg, but i been feeling pretty yucky sick to my stomach is there a chance the test was wrong ? feeling hopeless
Hi everyone,
Me and my husband have been TTC for a 3 years, so I finally went to see a doctor. I was diagnosed with PCOS and put on Metformin 500 mg a day since February 2016. since then my period had been normal. I've been getting my period every month until May 2016. What I thought was my period really wasn't. I was spotting. it was on and off not enough to be a period. (tmi) I would wear a pad and nothing. It's 2 days after the spotting and I've taken numerous pregnancy test, but it'll always be negative. I have a doctors appointment today and I'm crossing my finger and praying that a blood test comes out positive. Reading these messages gives me confidence that I am pregnant but my pcos is preventing a positive pregnancy test.

PCOS was never diagnosed, but I am positive I have it. My doctor refuses to give me a blood test, because of a negative hpt at her office (and many at home), so asking for an ultrasound is a no-go. I am sure that I am pregnant. I have also been tracking my ovulation with OPKs for several months now, and I see the surge, then the taper-off, but ever since I actually starting TTC, my OPKs are always very positive, and sometimes darker than the control, but all negative hpts. Any ideas about how to get an ultrasound?
PCOS does interfere with pregnancy tests. I didn't find i was pregnant with my first child until i was 3 months and my second child i found out about 10 weeks. I'm insulin resistant, on high protein/low carb diet w/ daily exercise. My HCG hormone does not elevate to the point of regular woman to show positive on a test. As a matter of fact my HCG was but slightly elevated with my 2nd child and when they retested 2 days later it had dropped, they thought i was miscarrying. Well all praises to God my baby made it!!! Now i might be on my 3rd!!! :) of course my test comes back negative so i'm not taking any this time. I'm just gonna leave it to my Lord who destines my steps
Don't feel hopeless!! believe it is possible :) Im on 2000mg of metformin, low carb/high protein diet with daily exercise. I've had 2 miscarriages and 2 successful pregnancies. they thought i was miscarrying my 2 nd child because my HCG level dropped 2 days after first test. My baby is 2 yrs old now and a ball of energy! :) i believe i'm pregnant again! LOL!! my uterus is swollen and round ligament hurts, feeling yucky, headaches, dizziness, blurred vision, can't lose any weight but not gaining either ( I lost 30 lbs with my 2nd pregnancy/ My baby was a healthy 7 lbs) feels like i'm gonna get my cycle ( felt this alot with my 2nd child for 8 months) bloated feeling, feel like i need to throw up sometimes, ect.... I'm insulin resistant/ my HCG NEVER shows until about 3 mnths pregnant. Doc won't do ultrasound either but I'm in train of thought. If you feel like it and can't find any other reason for how you're feeling then chances are :) Much luck to you on your jouney sister and you are in my prayers!!
Thank you everyone for sharing my husband and I have TTC for 3 years. After much disappointment this month we thought we may be pregnant but 2 tests came back negative. I have every textbook symptom plus some from tender/sore breasts to dark spots on my breast, to cravings, cramps I spotted for 3 days 2 weeks ago & have even had random marks appear on my stomach which I learnt skin discolouration/ melanoma is common with pregnancy. I still feel very positive too which is not common. I had lost over 6 kilos before this time. I have taken progesterone for 8 days over a week ago and still no period which is uncommon for me to not have progesterone bring on a period. Anyways I hope I too am pregnant but their is just a negative test.
I had PCOS since age 18
I am TTC from six months
Four months back My doc said my follicles length is low as 14*14
And she gave some injections
From three Months I am not taking any other medications because of summer
And I am using meprate 10 mg for regular period
On April 25 I got my period
Till now no period
Nipple enlarged and too black
All symptoms like pregnancy
A light brown discharge I had on may 28-29
One hcg test is positive
And another test is negative
My doctor said positive is always positive you are pregnant
She doesn't diagnosed me
She simply took my pulse bp and said I am pregnant is it possible
I am confused
Please tell me am i pregnant or not

People with PCOS do not have high levels of male hormones, if you do have high levels of male hormones you do not have PCOS and you have been miss diagnost.
Hello, I am someone who has PCOS and by reading some of these posts I feel like many of you don't understand the seriousness of PCOS. For women who have it they are going to have it for the rest of there like till they finish menopause. So until that happens you have to be on drugs that regulates you cycle. Meaning either fertility pills if you want to get pregnant or birth control it you do not. If you are not on pills that regulate your cycle you are at risk for uterine cancer. After you were first diagnosed with PCOS you should of had a biopsy to determine if you already do. That is what happened to me.
Now if you are not trying to ge pregnant you should be on the pill, not the ones that are multicoloured and give you a different dose as your cycle goes on, but the ones that are all one colour and give the same dose all throughout. This is what my doctor told me, it because our hormones are all out of wack and a regular dose works, where the different doses might not.
Now if you are trying to get pregnant your doctor should try you on progesterone for 10 days to jumpstart your period. Then on day 3 of your period you should take either Letrozol or Clomid, (sorry about my spelling not sure how to spell them) you take them for 5 days and then on day 21 of your period you go in for a blood test to see if you ovulated. You keep doing this at different docige levels until you either find one that works for you or you find the max levels don't even work for you. Then your doctor should put you on Metformin, it might regulate your system by its self, or you will have to go on the progesterone jumpstart again and then one of the fertility choices. This hopefully will get you to ovulate regularly. Once you are you wont have to take the progesterone any more just the fertility pills on day 3 of your period. It is also a good idea to keep doing your day 21 blood tests to make sure your ovulating. Then on day 28 through 35, you should do a pregnancy blood test, they are more actuate for those of us with PCOS. The pregnancy or ovulation test that you buy and pee on at home can come pac as false negatives or false positives for people with PCOS. The blood tests are the best way to go.
Now it is important for you to figur out your own cycle, each woman is different. Day 1 is the first day of a full bleed from your period. Once on meds your cycle should be regular, my cycle on meds is 32 days long give or take a day, but on average 32days. If my period has not show up by day 32 and I do not feel crampy at all, I will call my doctor for a pragancy blood test, (note I would have taken an at home one on day 28 or 29 already.) Now me being about a 32day cycle, that means that I will ovulate about in the middle of my cycle, so about day 16 is when I will ovulat. So just to be safe having sex from day 12 to day 19 every second to third day. You should take a at lest one rest day in between because you male partner needs time for his seamen to replentify. Don't worry seamen stay in the female body for 3 to 5 days, before dying. (This is all information my fertility doctor gave me.)
Now I live in Canada where most of the tests are covered, although not the meds. So I understand if you can't do all the test that I did, exspecially if you live in the USA. But I thought it important for people to know the whole story that my doctor put me through, and there is just a bit more to it.
Now when I was first diagnosed with PCOS I was told that technically there in no test that says yes you have PCOS, there are just signs that you have it, so in the end they can"this say yes you have it, the doctors can say you most likely have it and let's treat you for it but it can never be a 100% dingosice. Now here are the symptoms, iragular periods, misses periods, very long period, and not just 10 days I am talking about multiple weeks, my longest was 5 weeks on 3days off 3 weeks on. Although this doesn't happen for everyone. Other symptoms, facial hair, tummy hair, thicker arm and leg hair, also thinning hair, possibly even balding. Having higher male hormones is not a symptom ( it can be a reason for any hair issues you have other than PCOS ). There are also a few other symptoms but they are not coming to mind. Also PCOS is something you are born with, there is no instant treatment, you will have this form the day you get your first period to till they day you have your last. Menopause is the cure! Not joking but I do find it a bit funny! Anyway I hope this was helpful to aleast some of you! Good luck and I hope you all have lots of baby's!

Thank you so much for posting this. I'm also an egg donor (4x) and was diagnosed with PCOS about 2 years ago. I am showing signs of pregnancy and missed period but the home test came back negative. It's so confusing but it seems like the best thing to do is wait a little while and ask one of the fertility docs.
What! Why would you say that? She is pregnant.. Once spontaneous abortion EPL, and or chemical miscarriage happens.. The hormone levels DECREASE normalize and return to a balance.. Increased estrogen: E1, E2, and E3 convert to IMPROVE COMPLEXION, INCREASED BREAST TISSUE/CHANGES, HEADACHES.. She would not .. I'll say again she would not continue to be ATTPICAL SYMPTOMATIC..
