I am so thrilled to read all of this. I have PCOS as well.  I had the implanon taken out in May2011.  My husband and I have been ready to start fertility.  My doctor is wonderful and told me to track my ovulation for the month of June.  It was the first step in the process of many more to come.  We started metformin as well. She said we were going to build the mg up each month.  So I tracked my ovulation and the ovulation test said we were ovulating.  So we had intercourse.  My period according to my first day of my cycle should have started again on June 28, 2011.  It didn't come.  I took a pregnancy test a couple days later and it said negative.  I began having cramps like I was going to start.  My period never came.  I took another test the next week and it was also negative.  By the next week I begin to feel dizzy and sick to my stomach only in the afternoon.  The first time was so bad that I almost had to pull over on the side of the road.  I went to see my OBGYN on July 15, 2011.  She did a urine test and it still said negative.  She said that according to my body we didn't know when I could have really ovulated.  We also did not know how long my cycle was.  Therefore, to wait another two weeks and take a at home test again.  It seemed that everything was pointing to me being pregnant.  So to treat my body like I was until we knew different.  I am still having the tender nipples, vomiting in the afternoon, dizziness, and I'm more emotional than normal.  Certain tastes cause me to gag and smells are becoming harder to handle sometimes.  I've noticed that I pee a lot more than normal.  I can't go a full nights sleep without waking up to pee.  I pee every two hours and sometimes three.  I've miscarried before and keep praying that God protects this baby. This is different and no cycle has ever made me feel this way.  I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but everything points to it.  After reading all of this I think I am going to call and see if I can get some tests run.  I'm glad to hear that I'm not going crazy.

I have had PCOS that I know of for 14 years or so. I am lucky enough to have 4 daughters! The first was pregnant as normal my PCOS was not bad enough to stop it. My second I was on a light does of BC pill for a year and it happened. My third had to see fertility dr and got prego with the help of metphormin but still took 2 years. Then with my fourth it was the BC pills agian and took about a year. With my third baby my home tests were Negative so finally got a blood test. *Scarry part with having PCOS and pregnant is I had preeclampsia (toxemia) with all 4 babies and had premature babies.* My husband has been "fixed" for 7 years. Last few months he has made comments that he thinks his right side has gone back together and his "juices" are a differant consistancy than what they have been since his surgery. For the last 6-7 months I have had a monthly period for the first time in about 14yrs....I give thanks for my daughter causing it because I would get mine on the same day she did lol. But this month I did not get one with her.....then without him even knowing this my husband starting make comments about me acting pregnant (remeber we have done this 4 times lol) made me realize I missed my perioed and then take note at all the many symptoms I am showing. We took 2 tests this week and both negative. I am not ready to believe that with him being "fixed" and with me having PCOS that this is possible so will not yet go to the dr but if I go another month without a period I guess I will have to suck up the courage to take this silly question to the dr. :o)

But anyway I wanted to post on here just to let those of you know that have not been able to have a baby yet that there is hope and it can happen! I did it 4 times.....my younger sister took 3 years to get here daughter.....and she has been trying for 4 years for another with no luck with the BC pills or metphormin.....but she is still trying :O) She gets a little angree because my symptoms of PCOS are so much worse and more than what symptoms she has and I have my girls,  but that is one of the things about PCOS is that no one really knows why it is how it works or how to fix it truly.

I think if you have not tried using birth control to GET pregnant talk to your dr and give a low dose a try. (I NEVER missed a pill and it happened because it forced me to ovulate)

Good luck to all of you :-P

Hi I was diagnosed with PCOS about three years ago and have a few questions because I think I'm Pregnant.
1) I'm three days late and I took a test it came back negative is it posiible that I tested to early?
2) When should I retest?
3) I know it is irresponsible for me not to take my med (Metformin) but If I am pregnant and there is a high chance of miscarriage?
4) Should I start taking it now or should i not interfere with the hormones that got me to my pregnancy?
5) If I am Pregnant I will be toward the end of my 4weeks should I just schedule an appointment?

Okay, here's my situation.  I was diagnosed with PCOS along with my mom and my siter by an awesome nurse practitioner then confirmed later by an OB GYN about 6 yrs ago.  I can feel the cysts burst on my ovaries when they do cause it hurts like I'm getting stabbed, but I have only had cramps once...My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant since July of '07.  I'm really getting discouraged, but I am seriously late for my period.  As in my last period started on 12/6/11, which means I should have started on January 3rd. Today is 1/26/12, so that makes me like 23 days late.  The deal is, my last period was super heavy, lasted 9 days, was that one and only time I've ever had cramps (I'm 33), and I was in finals week for college (under stress).  Now this month, I'm not stressed, I'm totally cool with getting pregnant (we've been trying), I'm late, and because of schedule changes, more time, etc, we've had a lot more sex than normal for us.  By a lot more, I mean, all but 2 days since before Christmas.  those 2 days were last week after I took the first test.  I figured on the 16th (last monday) that I must be pregnant and took one of those cheap tests from walmart at night...I know you're supposed to wait until the am, but we were excited. Anyway it was negative...i cried.  Last friday I noticed a crazy metal taste in my mouth and on my hands, but my mom and my husband couldn't smell it.  I have not experienced breast tenderness, but I have had diarhea for about 3 weeks, have had increased number of bm's, I have rarely if ever had to get up in the middle of the night to pee, but have everynight since mid December, and I feel like I'm going to vomit almost everytime I eat.  Now today, i woke up and my left side was hurting about where my ovary should be (lower pubic area) and the pain gets worse when I have a full bladder.  I took the ept digital test today and it also said Not Pregnant.  I've heard lots of stories the past few days from friends saying that 1.  I took the first test wrong, 2.  they had negative tests, but still delivered healthy babies.  I'm taking Metformin (btw can it make you skip your period?) and prenatal vitamins.   Oh another factor that could matter...my husband finally quit smoking after 15 years in October, which would increase his motility, right?  Anyway, I'm concerned, what else could make me this late?  I really hope I'm pregnant.  God let it be that and not something else.

Fallow up to post on 12/12/12

Okay.....I am NOT prego....got my period on 12/18/11....honestily this is strange but......started spotting in the a.m. when I woke up and used the bathroom....less than 5 minutes after waking up my sister called and told me she is prego.....just got the possitive test right then.....strange that I got my period at maybe the exact time she found out she was prego LOL. She went to dr and found out she got prego 11/23....my symptoms started around Thanksgiving......She had ZERO symptoms of being prego still and I am still having them.....we think I am having her symptoms LOL but we are so thrilled that she finally has gotten prego after over 4 years of trying :o) Yay!!!!!!

So glad I found this thread. I have pcos and have been ttc for 2 years now. I was started on Clomid and Metformin and am now a week late (well, almost). I did ovulate, it was confirmed with fertility charting, opks and my OvaCue Fertility monitor.  ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** web addresses not allowed***. My LP is only 12 days long (but I start spotting late on the 12th day and usually get a period late that night) and I am now on 17dpo. I'm going in for blood on Monday, but if that comes up negative I will wait another week to retest. Pray for me please. This journey has been long and hard and I can't take any more disappointment.

This is my problem,

I've had cramping since Dec 27th and on new years I ended up going to the hospital due to sharp pains in lower pelvis and they did a blood pregnancy test (NEG).. on Jan 15th I was working and got dizzy for a good 20 mins... on Jan 17th I got super dizzy at work and called in and told them I wasn't feel well, they told me to come to the office and eat something but I had just ate lunch like 2.5 hrs before and it was a normal size and I had breakfast... when I got out the persons house I felt sick to my stomach... so I called my boss and told them I was going a doctor... they weren't too happy and neither was the hospital to see me back again... I had light to medium cramping off and on since the Dec 27th and I had what seemed to be a period on time but light to medium bleeding for 2 days (unnormal for me as I am heavy and about 5 days long)

On Jan 17th when I went to the hospital on the way there I got sick 10 times and noticed my vision was getting blurry, so I honestly thought ok I'm pregnant... cause I never get sick unless its food poisoning and even then it's just once.. the doctor refused to do another blood pregnancy test but ordered a ultrasound for my PCOS cause on New year's eve the same doctor told me it was my PCOS pain. He did some blood work and they all came back normal levels. I did the ultrasound the radiologist asked me if I've ever been pregnant, which is odd cause I have had many ultrasounds and never had that asked. Also since my cysts are large they asked me to take a CT scan ... I was scared cause I seriously felt pregnant, the day after my CT scan I felt pain in my lower pelvis and thought sh*t I was pregnant and now I'm going to have a miscarriage. Since the 17th I have had so many symptoms. Here is a list..

Blue veins on chest and boobs becoming alot more noticeable. (2 weeks now)

Chest a lot hotter than normal (a week)

Vomiting regardless if moving around or not (since Jan 17th)

Increased smell (since jan 17th)

Lower back pain (since Dec 31st)

Light to medium cramping 3.5 weeks now/ in lower pelvis. (since dec 27th)

Headache maybe 1 out of 7 days (since dec 27th)

Tender breasts/ swollen nipples and white things more (2.5 weeks now)

Pins and needles in my legs comes and goes (Started last sunday)

dizzy regardless if moving or not but worse when active. (since jan 15th)

When dizzy vision becomes blurry (since jan 15th)

Alot More saliva / woke up many times with a pile of drool on my pillow (2 weeks)

Jan 4-5 light period

Heartburn after every meal Maybe lucky if 1 out of 6 regardless if spicy, salad, cereal... (2.5 weeks)

Increased hunger, hunger pains (3.5 weeks)

Blue veins noticeable on stomach and legs (this Thursday)

Alot more than usual sensitive down there, like sex feels different (4 weeks)

Increased discharge (4 weeks)

Metallic taste in mouth comes and goes (1.5 weeks)

Have to go pee a lot more than normal (3 weeks) I feel like I have the bladder of a 2 yr old!

I've now taken 3 weeks off work cause I do live commercials in people's homes and well I can't throw up in their house so I stay home.. On the 29th I went to a walk in clinic he did some blood tests plus a blood pregnancy test... yesterday I found out the results are NEG again... but I still have these symptoms!!! The doctor I saw yesterday told me it was all in my head... I wish I would have got sick on her lap instead of as soon as I got in my car...

The thing is I am late now... I get my period every 35 days and I'm due for it on the 8th... and I'm soo confused. like the pins and needles in my legs increases more every day and I've changed around my diet and nothing changes and they tested me for diabetes which was a no..i happened to look on google and I wasn't going to link this to pregnancy but the suggestions showed ....when pregnant.. I just laughed...

8 Doctors have no idea what is wrong with me and the bf and I are stressing out cause I was told yesterday to take another week off work... a month off work and the doctors have no clue what is going on with me... I feel pregnant... but with all these negatives I dunno what to think. Any suggestions, anybody ever go threw this??

I have PCOS and no periods at all. We are ttc and I'm wondering when should I test if I don't have a period to base anything off of?

I hear so much that PCOS won't interfere with a pregnancy test. This is NOT true. I have PCOS, and have had false negative HPTs with every one on my 9 pregnancies. The doctors have told me that it was the PCOS that was causing the false negatives. Most every time I have found out I was pregnant was through a physical exam, or ultrasound. I have even produced false negatives with a blood test. Yes, I know this is typically unheard of, but it has happened.

With my 7th pregnancy I did not have a positive pregnancy test until I was 23 weeks along. At 22 weeks I was in the middle of an ultrasound, the doctor was holding the negative test in his hand, and watching my son on the screen. Of 9 pregnancies the earliest I had a positive urine test was at about 9weeks, and that was when I was pregnant with twins.

The best suggestion I can give for any woman with PCOS who thinks they may be pregnant even with a negative HPT is to go to the doctor.

I have went to a doctor many times. Told I'm crazy they refuse an ultrasound and I cant do anything to change that... cause i'm in Canada.. My boobs are exactly like pregnant boobs... I have very light cramping almost everyday and sometimes it feels like a kick or something lol. I give up on these Doctors cause I know I'm not insane

Hi, I too have PCOS and its dang frusterating! My husband and I have been TTC for 13 months already and nothing. I have thought many times in those months that I was pregnant, but all negative results, then heavy periods. Wondering if those might have been early miscarriages?

Anyways, I have never been regular with my cycles and was 2 months pregnant with my son before I finally got a positive result. I was also on BC when we concieved him. Now for the past month I have had all possibly signs of pregnancy. from sore breasts to heartburn, emotional, dizzy, tired, etc. i have taken so many tests and every single one is negative! I don't even want to pee on a test anymore cuz it breaks my heart to see the negative results.

Just wondering if anybody has advice on what to do? Should I make an appointment for an US? or keep waiting? I would be atleast 6 weeks pregnant now if I am.

Hi

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 16. When I was barely 21 (I'm 27 now) I concieved and a few weeks later lost a child, and this was before I was taking the pill, I was just on metformin

Since then I went on Ginet 84 which is the contraceptive pill my doctor reccommended for me and it helped most of my symptoms like the hair and the weight and the tiredness and moodswings.

Anways the last year I have been having sex with this guy and I admit we haven't always been as careful with contraception as we should've been - I have always had the pill but we haven't always used condoms. The last 2-3 months I haven't been taking the pill and we haven't been using condoms. When I came off the active and went onto the inactive pill in the past my period arrived like clockwork within a 4 day time period. This time the 4 days come and went I haven't even had so much as the spotting or periods, nothing. I have had a few stomach cramps, been extremely exhausted, felt nauseated and been momentarily panicking, up taking 3 hpts and everythings been negative. After reading this page I'm thinking that maybe my PCOS is not helping with the result.

How common is it to get pregnant on a contraceptive pill or without it while having PCOS and return a negative result? SHould I just go ahead to the doctor and get the blood test and a scan? Could it be an indication that PCOS is getting worse?

I have also PCOS but I'm 5 months pregnant now.

Hi I'm 25 years old and have had PCOS/D for all of my post-puberty life. I have been trying to get pregnant with my husband for about a year now. I think (think) I had one miscarriage. I am right now 11 days past my period (so I guess would make me 5ish weeks prego if prego). I am taking metformin and prenatal vitamins. All tests (urine and blood) seem to come up negative for me and my mother when she had me until the 4/5th month. Also my mother needed progesterone shots to keep the preganancy or she would miscarry. All these docs I've been to look at you like your having a "mental" pregnancy when it's like "I'm not sure if I am or not". My periods have been fairly regular and usually not this late and I have symptoms of pregnancy as well. Dizzy, tender breasts, sensitivity, increased discharge, frequent urination (could be a UTI I guess), stretching feeling/heavy but not exactly like a period but who knows? I feel like I am going crazy like the above posters I just want to know. I know with PCOS there is a 50/50 chance of a miscarriage in the 1st trimester so if I am I want that progesterin or whatever it's called shot. If not would it hurt me to get one? I'm thinking of going to a fertility specialist but it's hard because of finances right now. I took one urine test 3 days late (read a week ago) at the docs office it came up negative. So should I have a blood test? It might help. Might not. I called my doc today who said she'll give me a gyno referal. So hopefully at least a physical exam/ultrasound would do it but it's so early it might not. But then again if I don't know ... I could lose it without hormonal treatment. SOOOOO frustrating. Thank you so much for this thread.
