Could it be the body scan? It didn't use to happen be it has since 911 and the installation of the full body scanners.

I think this is normal symptoms as the baro pressure and density went out of the roof when the plane is taking-off or landing. OOps, this is normally happening to the ears, but if your vagina is acting like ears. There must be something wrong with your organs sensitivity :P
Definitely need to see doctor / specialist!

I'm curious if anyone has got an answer from their doctor about this. I recently had 3 periods in less than a month due to international travel. A similar thing happened when I was younger and was taking the pill to avoid my period. I always thought I had a bad reaction to the pill, but maybe it was the plane trip instead.

I go from newzealand to Australia and it is a 3 hr flight and I get my period every single time , after the flight I go to the bathroom and see that I've been bleeding/ on my period, recently my period finished 4 days ago and then when I flew I got it again that same day I flew, I would really like to know why and how flying effects me!? I'm 19

Little late in the conversation, I’m no doctor but it is most definitely the pressure! I too have the implant in my arm, I never have periods haven’t for around 6 years...
but over the past few years every holiday that has required a flight I end up having a period! I haven’t flown for 2 months now so not had any issues! But I have used the under water channel tunnel crossing between England and France. Low & behold 3 days after, I’m having the heaviest period I’ve had in around 10 years!!
People always think I’m joking when I say it’s the pressure, though I do strongly feel the effects of pressure elsewhere (migraines, ears popping)
Not to worry anyone, but I had an laparoscopy to have some endometriosis removed in 2013, I don’t know if this has anything to do with it or not? But I will most definitely be seeing my doctor before I fly/channel cross again, apparently there is a pill that can delay you by 10 days!!!

I’m 54 and on a HRT that I’m not supposed to bleed with but every time I fly I start bleeding the next day!!! I have found that it’s only outward bound.

Same thing happened to me. I flew to Ireland from U.S. (9 hour flight). When I landed I had bleeding for 1 day. Flew back home 9 days later and when landed, again, bled for 1 day. I'm about to be 41, so wasn't sure if this was related to be premenopausal. But hearing these other stories make me think, "at least I'm not the only one". Weird.

I'm on HRT and haven't had a period for 2 years but within the last 4-5 months, I have flown 3 times and every time I flew, I started spotting. I had to do a whole work-up with my gynocologists o make sure it wasn't anything serious (and most times it is not) but I'm curious, now that I don't have any trips planned, if I will continue to spot. My estrogen may need to be adjusted too on HRT.
