These are exactly my symptoms after an ablation several years ago. Initially, it just felt like I was ovulating. Now I have constant pressure and dull pain on the left side. I'm also having trouble passing urine. I also have blood in my vagina after bowel movements. Ultrasound and signal imaging were clear.

I was recently diagnosed with Adenomyosis.  I had an ablation done in 2009 and 4 years later began having the symptoms everyone on these threads are complaining about.  after not having insurance and not being able to pursue a proper diagnosis and after being diagnosed as "probably" fibroids" and MRI and radiiologist said adenomyosis.  My options for treatment are Lupron (NO!), a hysterectomy, or a fibroid (arterial) embolization.

I'm just relieved to know that there is a solution.  I asked my doctors if the adenomyosis is a result of the novasure and they both said they didnt think so, because adenomyosis is more common than it's mentioned.  Women who have fibroids also suffer soemtimes from adenomyosis, and sometimes the adenomyosis isnt found out until after the woman has a hysterectomy and the tissue is examined.

If you're reading this and have the symptoms of cyclical pain, extremely tender uterus, weird bleeding, bleeding longer or heavier than usual, uncomfortable intercourse, back pain, pain that cant even be helped with tylenol, then google adenomyosis.  Talk to your dr about having an mri done to rule it out.  It's better to have something to look for than not.  At least if its ruled out then you can move on to the next possiblity.

I hope I'm helping someone out there!

Be well ladies!

I recently had an ablation, novasure because of heavy bleeding, irregular cycles and vertigo because of it all. I had cramps all the time. Sept 18, 2015 I had the ablation done in the clinic. I was given some hydrocone, Valium and a nausea pill to take before hand. I was also given a shot of toradol just before the procedure. I was awake thru the whole thing and felt the whole thing. I was in instant excruciating pain and then began throwing up. The nurse even told me that I was pale. I finally told then I just wanted to leave so I could lay down. I took more nausea meds and more pain pills with no relief. I felt like I was burning on the inside. The discharge was not bad at all, but I could not get rid of the pain. I was missing work and calling the dr to let him know how I was feeling. On Oct 1 I started hemmoraging. I made numerous calls to the clinic and was told that I had a hard time with the procedure and I will have some pain and bleeding. I spent all day crying. I finally called them again after passing HUGE clots and excessive bleeding. They told me to come in. I found out in had an infection and was prescribed 2 strong antibiotics and pills to stop the bleeding. After a week the bleeding finally stopped, but the pain has never gone away. I can't walk or stand for too long or it becomes worse. I can't lift anything. Leaning against the sink to wash dishes hurts. Vacuuming is oit of the question. I can't let my bladder get full or I hurt more. Or of I need to have a BM it hurts. Just sitting hurts. It never goes away and nothing helps. I literally take Tylenol pm just so I can sleep. I am totally exhausted, have gained weight and feel worse than before the ablation. I have no idea when my cycle is going to be since I bled since sept 5, 2 weeks before the procedure and stopped mid Oct.
I just got married sept 5 and sex is totally out of the question as its too painful. I'm still having a burning sensation like the one right after the ablation.
I have an apt Nov 19 to see my doctor, now mind you a follow up appt was never discussed or scheduled.
I thought I was just having a hard time with this. But my sister in law sent me a link to experiences other woman have had.
Has anyone had similar problems as I have? I know I'm just shy of 2 months out from the ablation, but at this point I feel like something is wrong.

I am 54. Otherwise healthy, I had my ablation August 13th, 2015 as I was hemmhoraging with every period. Thank goodness I had a non constipating iron supplement with liver fractions and a lot of B12 to keep me going till then. After the ablation, I had normal bleeding post op for 5 days. Then it turned to bright red and dark red. Mostly spotting with the occasional "change your pants gush". Not fun. I lost a month of work as per 3 different doctors. One doctor prescribed tranexamic acid, but I refused to take it after I read the side effects. My surgeon was on holiday till Sept 8...sigh. She saw me that day. She said I made the right choice on refusing that med. ALWAYS READ THE SIDE EFFECTS AND ASK FOR THE INFO IF IT IS NOT IN THE PACKAGE. She gave me 4 options. I could go ahead and try natural remedies, or get something from her to thicken the vaginal wall, or have another ablation, or have a hysterectomy. To make a long story longer, the spotting has not stopped. And last night after work I started bleeding heavy, going from a light-days pad all day to a heavy pad before bed after flushing red toilet water 3x. And it stopped for the night while I was on the phone with the 811 nurses hotline (in Canada). Lost another day of work. and it started again this evening. :-[ So I have been bleeding almost 3 months since the ablation. I didn't know so many people were having such a rough time with this. Are there any natural solutions out there? And sex? Forget it! I'm a broken toy.

OMG.. Reading all these post a year after, describes pertly what I'm experiencing now, at age 48. Their is no info that my GYN has given me either. This severe cramping, constipation & overall miserable for 5-8 days is unbearable for me at this point. Hysterectomy set 1-8-16. I hope everyone on this blog is doing much better by now!

Hi to you poor women who suffer this horrible post ablation syndrome! I have it too and i need a histerectomy as well unfortunate for me i have had a hernia ventral with an umbilical as well so I have Mesh in me right in the way of the hysterectomy which my urogyno says will make the histerectomy surgury extremely difficult. So since ive already been somewhere in menopause he has opted to give me Lupron shots to speed up the menopause! I am 48 so I dont really care what it takes to get rid of the horrible pain that i now experience like clockwork every month. 3 times i have had to go to the ER over this c**p If id only known what i was in for! I think that this medical info should be out there to warn any woman who has had a tubal about the MAJOR SIDE AFFECT that seems to be quite common ! SO... LETS SPREAD THE WORD! POST ABLATION SYNDROME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT IS REAL !!

I followed this thread because I thought this was my problem. My Dr. really didn't believe my symptoms. But nothing changed after my ablation. The heavy bleeding got worse and I even experienced near black out level cramps that sent me home from work a few days. Finally, my Doctor suggested a Hysterectomy. During the Hysterectomy she discovered a 10.5 pound tumor that had not been detected in the radiology report. my 1 hour surgery turned into 5. It was very scary. My point is that you should keep talking through your symptoms until you figure it out. Medicine is not perfect. My radiologist screwed up big time and caused a lot of dangerous issues for me. In fact, my Dr. said she changed radiology centers she referred patience to because of my case!

Just wanted to mention when i went to an ER with the massive pain and knew it was probably Post Ablation Syndrome I was given an antibiotic shot and put on 2 anti biotics which caused me to get c.diff colitis! so I ended up in another ER 2 weeks later! So dont let them treat you with so many Antibiotics that all your good Bacteria in the collon disappear! I could have gotten sepsis or blew a whole in my large intestine! and died!!

hope your Hysterectomy worked!!

My ablation was in November 2012. Since then I have had several episodes of excruciating pain and it has brought tears to my eyes. This last weekend I could feel the pain coming, usually I am on 800 mg of Advil every 6 hours to keep the pain at bay for 3-4 days, however this time nothing was working. I was literally paralyzed with pain. My husband wanted me to go to the ER but knew sitting in a room waiting to be poked with vaginal instruments was not going to help. I have a close friend who has had the same symptoms and her female doctor, yes she is a woman refused to give her pain medication and instantly recommended a hysterectomy. I had recently seen my gynecologist and she recommended the same solution. I am 50 years old have not started menopause and I am not interested in hysterectomy. Another solution (ha if it works) is to have a second ablation - but will that one work or make this worse? So very disappointed and tired of the unreasonable pain and missed work days.

I will be 50 in June. So sorry for your trauma and pain. I went through all of this 15 months after my ablation and tubal ligation June 2013. I have debilitating pain (otherwise great health, athletically fit), UTIs (on antibiotics off and on over a year), bladder inflammation, painful intercourse, hurts to move some days, numerous trips to ER for pain, and NO, pain meds don't touch it. Ultrasounds, CAT scans all negative. My gyno would not listen and finally I went to a specialist out of town. He will be performing an abdominal, total hysterectomy and oophorectomy, taking both ovaries and fallopian tubes. I am "doomed" as well to have the hysterectomy, but my quality of life has so diminished, that other options are gone.

Novasure is worst. It will cause scar tissue. I had the novasure 5 years ago and for about 5 months now when I have my monthly period the blood is trapped inside from all the scar tissue. The blood even backs up in my tubes. It hurts so bad. Post oblation syndrome is what they call it. The only way to get rid of pain is a hysterectomy.

I'm so sorry to hear everyone's difficult experiences with ablation. Thank you for sharing your stories as I have been considering having an ablation, but don't think I will now. In researching post-ablation syndrome, I came across this New York Dr's website who repairs failed ablations with a minimally invasive procedure. I share it here in case it is a resource for anyone. ***edited by moderator*** web addresses not allowed
