Male 43yo. One painful Gall attack .HIDA scan of 1%. I had lap surgery. In at 5:30am - home by 11am. Sore, slept, pain pills for 3 days. Switched to Tylenol which I'm currently taking at day 6. Eating small low fat meals. Walking a lot. Gas pains and bloating much worse than the incisions. Still have occasional skin itching (bile back up?) and what I think is gas pains on my left side under my rib. Feel mentally better that past 4 months living with infected gall bladder. I have quite a list of questions for the surgeon post op this week. Oh, I had Epstien Barr/Mono during the whole ordeal, which made it more difficult to diagnose. Good luck to all of us in healing.

Hey all, i just had my GB removed 6 days ago. I too still feel bloated, i consistently took my Narco 1 every 3 hours for the first 2 days and then went to 1 every 6 hours on day 3. Surgery was on Thursday and was supposed to come back to work on Monday (at least that was the plan). But monday came and i felt worse then than i did on sunday. Sunday i was washing clothes picking up the living room. But monday was completely different... and come to find out... it was the Narco. i was still taking the Narco, but it wasn't just making me drowsy, when i wouldn't take it right on time as my body had gotten used to... i started to get the shakes, clammy and nauseaous (overall lowsy) thats when i decided to come off the prescibed pain meds all together. and i can say i still have small shooting pains perdiodically from the belly button, and a lil bit of itchiness on the top 3 incisions, but i feel so much better just taking regular tylenol. I am sitting here at my desk getting up and down and even though i would say i feel 100% - its a good 80% all im waiting on now is the ability to pick up my baby boy and start working out. i do feel like when im up trying to do to much or chasing him around the house, i do get tired and winded quite quickly and by tummy does still feel bloated, but im not even a week out and I'd say from everything i read... i was originally thinking id be good to go by Monday. and 100% by tomorrow which would make a full week. Well that was unrealistic!!! but good news is that i dont feel horrible by any stretch of the imigination. just get off the major pain meds as soon a physically possible, i wouldn't have gone without them, but i do feel like i would have felt better more quickly if I had been off of them by day 3!!! good luck to everyone!

I had mine removed Monday, and I never felt better except for headaches. I never had them before and it's the second one since my surgery. I researching any connections but have yet to find something. Diarrhea is to be expected but that's only if you eat something fatty and greasy. I eat small meals and there is no need for me to eat like a horse. A side salad fills me up. If you know of anyone else who has headaches after surgery, please let me know. I didn't need my vicodin but for one day, just sore and my scars itch, which is a sign of hraling. Returning to work next week.

I had my gallbladder removed a week ago to this day. My sister is nurse and helped me with a couple of things. For the bloating, I drank one cup of prune juice, and allllllll the gas was out in about 4 hours. It literally is just CO2 gas and has no smell just loud – my stomach shrank back to normal size. I would recommend drinking the prune juice at the comfort of your home. It also push-starts the digestive track, and you’ll be flowing before you know it. Remember most pain killers taking orally cause constipation. For the sharp pains, it’s due to the CO2 that they pump in you to see better while surgery, best way is to do your breathing exercises – deep breaths 3xs every hour- pushes them out. Ibuprofen took care of all aches and pains. I tried to stay away from major pain-killers. Itchiness around the incisions is common, along with blisters. Make sure you eat bananas/get potassium to help with the healing process. My sister made sure I took two doses of Hospital grade liquid potassium before I left the last two days of the hospital stay.It speed up the healing process. Food: less greasy for now, more fruit…had a Domino’s Sandwich to just test the waters on day 4 post opp (only ate half), and went fine. I made sure I drink 8 glasses of water. Tested caffeine soda today, again was fine. It’s all about re-introducing slowly. Drinking water, and cutting out as much grease as possible. No spicy foods yet though. Remember: Prune juice, water, breathing exercises, less grease food, - water, rest and repeat. Get plenty of rest - the body reheals during sleep.

Hi - I am 6 weeks post op and still have constant albeit mild but nagging chest pain/ache just right of my sternum. I also have the constant feeling of a lump in my throat, sometimes so bad it feels like I have a tablet stuck there when I swallow even when I've not taken anything. It feels like my oesophagus is inflamed or heartburn. I often feel bloated after little food and have no appetite. I generally don't feel well/mildly nauseous although I've not actually been sick. I had a follow up gastroscopy which showed inflammation and infection gastritis and duodenitis but combination antibiotics & PPI therapy hasn't got rid of my symptoms. Totally fed up. Anyone any ideas as to what may be going on and what if anything can be done?
