It's the air they fill your tummy with that is making you feel bloated.

Poke a hole anywhere in the human body and it is going to swell up. Its normal. Its also a dam site better than open surgery. Physical thearopy ( walking ) is the best thing you can do for yourself. keep an eye out for infection and fever otherwise the bloating is normal and it will pass. I had mine out yesterday, and Im walking eating and going to work Monday

I had laparoscopic  cholecystectomy, 05/20/2011. I ended up with the bile leak and biliary stent placement, ugh, very painful you cannot even imagine! Anyway, it's been over a year, I still have rib discomfort, and I swear every now and then it feels as if there is a baby in there that moves every now and then, a lil flutter just like when you are pregnant. Does anyone experience this, if so, is this normal, what is it?

Hi, I never had a big wrap, just had Steri-Strips, like a clear tape, that took me months to get off :-) Glad you are not having pain. To this day though, I do itch at 1 of my 3 holes from the surgery every now and then. Weird.

i had my gb aut yesteday, and still very sore. the hurting when you breath in is def from the gas, but that isnt bothering me too much. My tummy is just so sore still and swollen of course. Ihave to go back in 10 days time to have the clips removed from the 4 holes. i wish the surgeon would have used disovable stiches. All in all, i,m glad gb out, and we just have to give ourselves time to recover.

If you have red lines that is a Big sign of infection. I would go to the doctor asap! I just recently had my gallbladder removed and am still recovering. The Healing pains feel much better than passing a gall stone did. I am glad it was removed.

hi i live in the uk (shropshire ) and had my gall bladder removed on 5/09/2012. I feel bloated and have considerable abdo discomfort, also issues around frequency of having to use the loo is starting to become a bit of a problem. all in all i feel pretty miserable with it. I know making changes to diet can help but i,m not sure what else i can expect as regards these post op symptoms. Do things get better or am i in for the long term with this bloating and other problems

Thanks for any support

regards

I have the exact same symptoms as you mentioned. This is the 4th day since I had my surgery. I only ate a small meal and then I got very nauseated. I began throwing up over and over again. I could not eat anything again the rest of the day. I kept sipping water only but that would even get me sick. I could not eat anything until later in the evening when I ate a little bit of soup. I also finally went to the bathroom. The pain has been unbearable. I never knew I would be this sick this many days after the surgery. So far, I have not noticed a fever but will keep an eye out for that. I am sorry for all of your trouble. I really feel something happened after I had surgery but no one was telling my mom and me anything. I hope finally I heal and get better. I seem to have to watch what I eat right now. I guess my body definitely needs time to adjust. Thanks, Mel

today is 12/09/12 and i had my gallbladder removed thursday just gone, i was up and about a couple of days later so seem so far to be having a somewhat  speedy recovery, the dr and nurse who came to see me say my scars are healing nicely but that i had to watch out for any weeping from any of my scars, so everyday i chack several times to make sure im not getting any kind of infection, then last night i noticed i has my belly button was a little wet , and then again this morning, so being concerned tried to get in to see a dr or nurse at my surgery which is literally just across the road and told that no one could see me, and had to contact somewhere else for support, they also said there was nothing availabe because of all the cases that drs were refering there, so im really concerned about after care, so then had to go back to the dr's who then agreed to TRY and get someone to come out and see me, but with NO GUARANTEES....im sorry but this is disgraceful. My aunt had the same operation, then later died due to contracting an infection because it wasnt spotted soon enough....what is the system coming to?..i am on minimal income, as im on the sick for another condition, so money is tight, i have no phone mobile or otherwise due to the expense so without my surgery to rely on im pretty much stuck if i need help in an emergency, but its like they dont care...so now i will sit and worry about getting a possible infectionin in or around my belly button area, just because the after care is not what it should be...does anyone know if the weeping from the belly button is normal????? im really concerned....

I had my surgery on 9/28/2012, friday. returned to work 10/1/2012 Monday. Three punctures and a whole lot of bloating, some weight gain . Other than that so far so good. Stitches itch, but im walking, eating and feel better than actually having the stones still inside me. I just hope the slight weight gain and the huge tummy goes down

The huge tummy does go down eventually :) I had it too... it does take awhile though. Mine was back to normal after about 3 to 4 months.
