I'm a 20yr old male and have been experimenting sexually for the last year or so... every now and then (only probably a couple of times in a year) I experiment with anal masturbation. I know there are always dangers with anything, but I am too scared to actually go to a doctor to check out any potential damage I may have done. When I do it, I'm always careful and only brief. I've never experienced any actual pain, only some discomfort (which I'm guessing is part of the feeling you're after with this, which is inevitable). I haven't done it in ages, and just recently tried again but I suddenly felt really terrible and worried, because I realised that I won't actually know if I've done any damage unless I get proper checked out. But I also have a tendency to worry when I don't need to be. There's been no blood or pain, and I used a foam cylindrical object with the circumference of probably only an inch around... the sides are quite smooth and soft, but the end is the slightest bit on the rough side (just at the edge part, only some minor bumps). I'm being as descriptive as I can without feeling like an id**t because I really want to know if I should be worrying or if I should go see someone about this. I feel really bad this time, not because I think it's a bad thing to do, but because I know that that part of the body can't feel pain so I would actually have no idea... like I said though, there's been no blood evident or anything... I think I will stop doing this altogether from now on! I hope someone can help me, I feel really embarrassed about it and I don't really want to confront my parents or anyone close to me about it.

First, I'd say relax, your anxiety is contributing to the discomfort. I think you'd know if something went wrong, because any cut up there is going to likely get infected quickly.

My suggestions are to relax, use plenty of lube and invest in a toy. I know you don't do it often, but I think if you do it with a smooth toy and a good lube, you'll get much more satisfying results, and you may even find you want to do it more.
