In a lot of cases long term marijuana smokers who get pregnant are more often than not asked to try and cut back or perhaps slowly quit, but there has not been 1 real study stating marijuana use is harmful to your baby. However, it is widely accepted that quitting marijuana during your pregnancy can actually have negative effects on the baby due to the physical/mental stress of quitting.

Im sorry to all those firm believers that think smoking pot while pregnant is no big deal but what if all these medical facts are right what if it could cause cancer for the chld or asthma or learning disabilities is that really a chance your willing to take, its your childs life your affecting and you could possible be making a decision that will effect your child for the rest of its life so whats more important smoking pot so you can have a good time and possibly effect your childs health or play it on the safe side because no child should have to suffer because you wanted to smoke.

anyone who thinks smoking pot wile pregnant is fine for the baby must have had parents who smoked the stuff when they were still in the whom. Duh its not good and is very selfish to think its ok. what a bunch of dumb pot heds!

although there isn't any effects it will have on your baby your concern should be drug testing. in many public hospitals they will drug test the mother and baby, and may even take away your baby. dont listen to these uneducated m****s on here blubbering on about the birth defects because there isn't any. but if you want to keep your child, i would suggest staying clean.

There have been no reported deaths in anyone for use of marijuana. It is the most harmless drug there is. Think of the 50's when women were pregnant and chain-smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol. That sort of stuff does pass through the placenta and into your baby and many babies were born asthmatic and addicted. My grandma did this with my dad and he has lived a life of addiction to pretty much anything he can find as well as almost dying of asthma as a child. I would rather see mothers smoking weed once in a while to ward off morning sickness that cigarettes and booze thats for sure. However, I smoke weed almost every day and I am pretty sure if I was pregnant I would quit everything. Drinking, smoking and even the occasional Tylenol. It may not cause leukemia, asthma, or any of the above but I want my child to try weed for the first time when he or she is 18 or older, not while they are growing inside me.

Does anyone responding to this against the use of pot know why pot was made illegal in the first place? This was done during the prohabition of alcohal during the 1920s. Now alcohal was made legal again, the American govn't, being the racist control freaks that they are, began creating mass propoganda that african-american people all smoked pot. Then they started all the pot kills ads. Does anyone really believe that pot will kill you? Do you think it impairs your judgement to the point that you will kill someone else? it's ridiculous. These ads were simply made to keep the minority's down.

Before pot was illegal, many midwives perscribed it to patients as the main goal when you are pregnant is to eat well and be happy and healthy. Pot certainly makes people want to eat more (although healthy can be a challege in our fast food lifestyle) and it makes everyone I've ever known happy and mello. Doctors nowadays will actually encourage people who smoke cigarettes to continue to smoke, but cut down, as the stress to the baby will be worse than actually smoking throughout the pregnancy. The biggest harm to your baby is stress, not pot.

Now for a more personal note. I was on the pill and was an avid pot-smoker when I got pregnant as was my husband. I really believe that the infertility notion is bogus. My daughter is now 1 month old and everyone I know (parents, grandparents, doctors, etc) who I don't feel comfortable admitting that I smoke pot to, think that she is the most advance, alert, coherent baby they have ever met. She learned how to turn over, babble, and smile the first week she was alive. I smoked at least 2 bowls a day the entire pregnancy. It helped profusely with my mood and with the nausea, muscle pains and more negative pregnancy symptoms. I had a wonderful labour. My goal was to do it completely natural as I do believe that chemical drugs can be very harmful to your child. I was in 11 hours of hard labour, but I managed to pull through without anything!!!

Now, any mothers out there who really want to judge and ridicule the use of pot throughout pregnancy, I challenge you to endure a child birth without the use of any drugs as those given to you at the hospital are proven to be more harmful (as everything with pot is inconclusive).

I just want to say I went to the doctor with one of my pregnant girlfriends and she was so sick from morning sickness that he suggested she keep smoking pot cause it keeps you from throwing up and makes you hungry. Back in the day the women use to smoke it or eat it before going in to labor

I never smoked pot prior to my pregnancy, although I never had anything against it, it just was not for me. When I was pregnant with my daughter I had extreme morning sickness. I was hospitalized 3 times because I could not keep down any food or liquids, and I was losing weight. My doctor actually prescribed Marinol, which is Marijuana THC in pill form. This was the only thing that would take the sickness away so I could eat. I tried every other remedy suggested for morning sickness. I was sick for 5 months before I received the marinol prescription, so in my case if I didn't use marijuana I could have actually lost my baby, or my own life! My daughter is now perfectly healthy, extremely smart, actually ahead in her development, cried much less than most babies, easy to calm... none of the things they say "may" occur as a result of marijuana use during pregnancy occur in my child. She is actually above average. I am sure it is not better for the child if you do it, unless you need to, for extreme morning sickness, as in my case, and also good for stress relief... from actual personal experience (not "here say"). ;-)

OK....

So I have had severe Migraines since I was 16. I was prescribed marijuana due to the fact that no pill that I have ever tried has stopped my headaches. I have gone through many medical tests with no success. I am pregnant and my doctor has insisted that I continue to use my prescription. I stopped smoking for a while and my headaches were so intense I actually passed out constantly and could not keep food down.
I am 4 months now and my baby is more than healthy. If it wasnt for the weed I prolly wouldnt have made it through my first trimester.

Beliefs are different but no one should EVER judge weed smokers for a thing.
No one has EVER died from smoking weed. you cant OD and if you have too much you eat and pass out. Beside you dont see doctors prescribing CRACK, heroin, liqour, cocaine, acid, ectasy, or any other drug out there

I will be the first person to spread the word if someone especially that Immortal lady can prove to me the negative effects of weed on anyone

Some people love to experiment with different drugs because of the "high" they get. Weed is addicting because of the psychoactive substance delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol. DWhat is worse is that some pregnant women continue to smoke on weed. They think that nothing bad will happen to them and to the fetus. They could never be more wrong!
Does smoking on weed even while pregnant have any adverse effect? The answer is a big YES!
Smoking on weed while pregnant is bad because it interferes with the fetus' blood supply. Smoking weed deprives the fetus of oxygen. And more often than not, the fetus is born with low birth weight or small for gestational age. These two conditions predispose the newborn into acquiring diseases like jaundice, infections, and many others. What is worst is that smoking increases the risk of sudden infant death syndrome.
Weed usually has additives like tobacco in order for it to be smoked. This means that smoking weed while pregnant exposes your fetus to other harmful substances aside from weed. You are also exposing your baby to the life-threatening effects of tobacco.
Studies have established that smoking weed while pregnant may affect the baby's development. Infants born to mothers who smoked weed while pregnant were usually jittery and difficult to comfort. They also had any of the following diseases: attention deficit hyperactivity syndrome, impaired motor skills, concentration problems, leukemia, short-term memory disorders, problems with judgment, and impaired social interaction.
If you actually thought that you are not harming your baby while you are getting "high," then, you are absolutely wrong. Smoking while pregnant is already bad. And smoking weed while pregnant is even worst. Stop smoking weed now!

If you wont smoke weed in front of them.....why would you smoke weed while pregnant? Makes no sense to me. Obviously your an id**t. I hope your children grow up without your lack of common sense. Would you take a newborn baby home and blow weed in it's face? Probably not I'm assuming. Then why would you sit there and smoke weed while a baby is developing inside of your stomach? Your supposed to be that child's caretaker and protector...not someone who would careless place your child in harms way. What kind of mother would do that?

How would the baby get asthma? Or any other breathing problems, for that matter? The smoke enters the MOTHER'S lungs, not the BABY's.
