By chance, does anyone know if problems with the thyroid are genetic??? just a lil curious.
I know it's something with my thyroid. Since I was 16, I got tests, blood tests, ultra sounds, all fine. When I was 16 I got some kind of dye injected in me that made my thyroid light up for some test. They said my thyroid was unusually big, but time after time i was "fine".
The last 6 month my heart burn has gotten worse, but this doesn't feel like a kink. My neck feels fuller... Maybe a connection?
When I was younger I used to suffer from panic attacks
Lately I wake up in the night thinking my throat is closing up, I run to the bathroom thinking I'm going into anaphylactic shock, but I'm fine. My throat would feel a bit squishy, but I have a fat neck anyway. Last night it happened again, but the feeling never wore off. my thyroid feel huge, feels like there is something there I want to rip off. Something pushing it in. It's driving me nuts!
Hello. My name is Nancy. And i have the same problem. It started in late 2009 when i moved in to a new apt. After 2 days of living there, i started to feel not well. In the begining, i felt throat tightning, then it was my brain tightening. I was dizzy and almost fainting. I moved out after 5 days. The dizziness and the head problem went away. But chronically, my throat is choking me. If i cry and have a stuffed nose, i sometimes feel like i have no other way of getting oxygen.
I went on a cruise and got a professional massage. i told her my problem. SHe did somethng crazy in the back of my upper neck in the back. i thought i was in hell and another world as it was so painful and crazy. She did it for 1-2 mintues, and i was a different person for the rest of the trip. i was well. My throat normal for the first time in months. But when i came back to NYC, the gas leak in the work place made the throat problem came back again. i have attempted other massages, but it hasnt help.
I have seen a few Ear, Nose, Throat, doctors. They all say different things, from I am completely OK to a bit redness (from talking to much at work -I am a teacher) in the throat to it s a mental thing from stress. Some Docs put me on medication whch i never took, as they did not seem to be so very serious about my illness. One doctor took blood test and says it is normal.
i am looking into antioxident remedies, as i was clearly poinson at the apt i was living in.
but if anyone know what has help them pls keep me and others updated.
it s gotten worse in the last 4 months. it s more swollen and more frequently. it comes and goes. Sleeping at night with my head laying on the pillow has made breathing difficult. It feels like the throat inside is completely sealed by soemthing unknow.
When i used my finers to touch my neck, my throat could feel different sizes of swolleness. but when the doctors do it, they can't feel it.
I go see the alternative doctor in NYC, Dr. Chow. One time she saw me after almost 1 year of not seeing me, she made a comment that my throat is swollen. She is a massage doctor and knows human body very well. So far only she can feel or see that i have a swoleen throat.
Welll, anyway,
im trying different things. i ll keep everyone posted.
I have had this re-occurring issue now for the last 15 years it comes and goes every year. I have had all the same things checked as far Thyroid and the scope down the throat; I have acid reflux and have for twenty years. I have lived a fairly stressful life and I notice that when things get really out of hand I feel some health issues coming on. Are they real or are they a symptom of the stress and depression? I think they are!!!
I have a very similar situation. I've been experiencing this pain in my throat, it feels like somone is taking their finger and pushing gently right in the center of my neck on my esophogus. When it first starts, it isn't that bad, but as time goes on, the muscles in my neck start to hurt because of them tensing up around my throat, which in turn makes the pain worse. I've had it now, off and on, for a few years. It'll start out of nowhere and last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. I've noticed along with it, I get a thick saliva that makes it seem like it's harder to swallow, which of course, it's really not, it's just more noticeable because of the pain. I've went to the doctors about it, but by the time I go in, it always seems like the symptoms have gone away and they tell me to come back when they occurr again. I've had thyroid tests done and they're all come back normal. This was my main concern since my mom had Graves disease years ago, which is a thyroid disease. Like I said though, they've come back normal. I am however a person who suffers from some minor anxiety and depression problems, and I found that when my life is stressful, when I have a lot going on, or if I'm not sleeping well, I start to experience these symptoms. I actually have them right now and I believe it's attributed to starting a new job with a crazy schedule. I stopped working 3 years ago when I had my second child and just decided to go back to work, so it's a major life change. Also, I was a smoker and I quit 2 years ago. Once I started working, I picked up the bad habit again. While out of work, I exercised, ate better, and slept better...now I'm working, smoking, not eating well, and overall I'm just not taking very good care of myself anymore. I do believe it has something to do with anxiety and stress hormones. It just seems too coincidental that every time I'm going through difficult times, busy times, and stress, this problem comes back. It's a very uncomfortable, painful, problem that kind of actually takes over my life. It doesn't seem like it would be that big of a deal, but it becomes overwhelmingly uncomfortable and I find it hard to relax at all. I feel your pain, and I hope you find your relief soon. It's a terrible thing to have to live with. We can't just take a pill to make the pain go away, we just have to live with it!
I am a 20 year old male having the same problem. i have only had it for almost a week now and have been to the doctor twice. The first time they told me it was acid reflex but tums helped nothing. I then returned a few days later and my doctor said that it is allergies i have never had problems with allergies either, but different factors can contribute to them coming up. Especially if you live with a lot of dust around you also if the weather where your at goes from hot to cold frequently. If your glands feels tight and swollen and your neck is not getting bigger then dont worry about cancer your neck will be puffed up. Dont stress and overthink on it to much every time i do it makes me worse. It Seems like when I'm taking a shower or laying down it doesnt bother me. Also apply some lotion on your neck and from the top of the swollen glands and work your way down pushing the fluid to be eliminated by stomach acid(you have to apply good pressure though). I am going back on friday if i get worse but know your not alone. Also dont worry if it lasts a long time but doesnt any worse this tight swollen feeling can last up to 6 months, So be sure to make sure that you keep a close eye on it. Other than that i'll keep posting when i know what it is. So just ease your mind and Relax everything is okay best wishes for you all.
I have seen a lot of people say that it is possibly caused by anxiety. I have recently started taking anxiety medication and that is when the feeling started occuring. Does anyone think it is possibly a side effect of the medication?
