I HAVE EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM, I GO FROM DR TO DR WITH NO HELP AND I CANNOT STAND IT ANYMORE, MY ENERGY LEVEL IS LOW AND I ALWAYS FEEL LIKE I AM GASPING FOR BREATHE, PLEASE, IF ANYONE HAS HAD THIS AND FOUND OUT WHAT IT IS AND WHAT CAN RELIEVE IT, I WOULD BE FOREVER GRATEFUL....I AM AT MY WIT'S END
I wish I had an answer for you. I too went from Dr to Dr - Urgent Care, ran blood tests, throat cultures...never got an answer. All I can tell you about my personal experience is that it started off with a tiny tinge of something in my throat and then it was full blown; it felt like I had a swollen throat but Dr's said it wasn't swollen; it didn't hurt, it just felt...swollen. The only relief I rarely got was when I ate, but unfortunately we can't eat all the time. This lasted for a few months and then it finally went away. Then it came back off and on for another few months before it finally disappeared altogether and thankfully I haven't had it since.
I wish you the best of luck. Again, I wish I had an answer for you but I think we're all in the same boat - no one has an explanation; it's so weird. I hope yours goes away sooner rather than later and you never have to go through it again. I know the hell you're living in right now :(

after extensive researching i think i have ANTERIOR CERVICAL OSTEOPHYTES CAUSING DYSPHAGIA AND PARADOXICAL VOCAL CORD MOTION LEADING TO DYSPNSEA AND DYSPONIA.....I HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH C5&6 CERVICAL HERNIATED DISCS AND I THINK THIS CAUSES THE THROAT/BREATHING PROBLEM, PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT IT AND GET BACK TO ME....

Did it get better/work for you?
I just researched it and oh my gosh, this sounds a lot like everything I've experienced. As a matter of fact, after my throat problem finally went away, I was okay for a while and although the throat problem itself never came back, I ended up experiencing bad back pain and about a year and a half ago suffered a BAD headache that lasted over a month a fit worse each day. No medication was helping and I was put on Norco, Prednisone and a butt load of other stuff. I was referred to a Neurologist and have been working with him since. He told me that I suffer from migraines and tension headaches and put me in a daily medication of Elavil. While I haven't experienced a headache as bad ir as long, I still suffer daily with a mild headache and tension in my upper back and neck.
Thank you for this information. In going to schedule an appointment with my doctor to look into this further. God bless!

I have the same problem. It happens to me when I lay down at night for bed. It feels like I am being choked.
I'm sorry to hear that you're going through this, too. Just remember that you're not alone.
First and foremost, I will recommend that you see (if you haven't already) your primary care physician to make sure there is nothing serious going on. I visited my primary care physician multiple times as well as an Urgent Care doctor; I also had multiple tests done and everything checked out fine. No one could figure out what was wrong. My symptoms, although it took a while, ended up going away all on their own and thankfully they haven't come back. Although, I have suffered a few different weird ailments since then including a random headache/pressure in my head that came on suddenly and lasted a few months. Again, the doctors couldn't find anything wrong after spending over $5,000 on tests and a trip to the E.R. I was told that it was a tension headache and migraine but I feel as though that is not the correct diagnosis as I've had migraines since I was eighteen and this just wasn't the same. Currently, I am suffering major back pain along my spine that has been around for about three weeks now and the use of Norco and muscle relaxers still don't help.
Another user on this forum suggested looking into something called Cervical Osteophytes (look it up online); I am 95% convinced this is what I have but I have yet to schedule an appointment to talk it over with my doctor.
Good luck!

I have had the same issues as you. I have had test and more test. The only thing they found is that I have sleep apnea. I have been using the cpap machine for 6 weeks with little improvement. I also was put on medicine for acid reflux and throat spasm. I haven't seen any improvement. Next they are sending me to a heart specialist to look further. I have test done for my thyroid and everything comes back fine. My mother has had severe issues with her thyroid to the point it had to be removed. I have been suffering with shortness of breath, heart flutters, severe weight gain, muscle weakness and severe tiredness. And much more. Have you had any luck to finding out what ishe wrong
I have a similar issue and I've had multiple tests also. Endoscopy and visited ENT who put a tube up my nose and down my throat to investigate. He found slight reflux in my throat and said I really need to watch everything I eat. Low fat/no fat diet, low sugar/no sugar diet. Also throat exercises seem to help. Keep your shouldsers straight and tuck you chin down, move your neck to the left as far as you can, hold it 3 seconds and do the same thing to the right. Then tilt your head back as far as you can and open your mouth. Do this several times. Then lift your shoulders to your ears and hold for 5 seconds, do this several times. Do these exercises several times a day. I can't seem to take prilosrc so I have been eating all the safe acid reflux foods. When I eat something that contains sugar it seems to reappear. It doesn't take it away all the time but it seems to be helping. This is my first full week of trying this diet and exercise and it is helping. Try and eat 5 small meals a day and no large meals. And most of all pray to Jesus to help you get through. If this is our cross to bear God has his reasons. Be blessed and I ask God to place his healing light over each of you and remove this health issue from you. Thank you and I hope this helps a little bit.
Dear Guest:
My only question is, what could be the protein you are sensitive to in canola oil, since there is no protein in the actual food (it is all fat). Is it something leftover from the processing of it or from the manufacturing process, where other traces of proteins are picked up? I am not an expert but from my understanding an allergy is caused by allergens which must be proteins.
I am one of those told that most likely I have LPR by an ENT back in 2014 and put on stomach medicine. Presently I am on Prilosec 20 mg. twice daily. Almost three years no and still no significant change for the better in the throat pressure.Very frustrating. But this post struck a bell with me since I do regularly use canola oil.
Thanks for sharing your story.

IT ALL SOUNDS VERY MYSTERIOUS WHAT WE ARE GOING THROUGH. THEY CAN PUT A SATELLITE ON MARS BUT THERE IS SO MUCH MEDICAL SCIENCE STILL DOES NOT UNDERSTAND ABOUT THE INTRICATE WORKINGS OF THE BODY. MUCH MORE RESEARCH MUST BE DONE ON THIS ISSUE OF "GLOBUS PHARYNGEUS", "CRICOPHARYNGEUS SPASM", OR WHATEVER LABEL THEY WANT TO PUT ON IT, BECAUSE COUNTLESS THOUSANDS ARE SUFFERING WITH THIS POORLY UNDERSTOOD CONDITION. MANY ARE AT THEIR WITS END.
I ALSO HAVE THE C-6 AND C-7 HERNIATION, BUT I UNDERSTAND THAT THESE HERNIATIONS ARE FAIRLY COMMON IN PEOPLE OVER 40 YEARS OF AGE, THAT IS UP TO 80% OF THE 40! PLUS AGE GROUP HAVE THEM. SO EVEN THOUGH IT MAKES SENSE, BECAUSE THE C-6 AND C-7 ARE AT THE LEVEL OF THE CRICOPHARNGEUS MUSCLE-----I DON'T KNOW IF I SHOULD PUT TOO MUCH STOCK IN THE HERNIATIONS. I DO ALSO SUFFER WITH OCCIPITAL HEADACHE, INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH. AGAIN, THIS IS AN INTENSE PRESSURE-LIKE SENSATION FELT IN THE FLESHY AREA BENEATH THE OCCIPITAL RIDGE. STRANGELY SIMILAR SENSATION TO THE THROAT PRESSURE.

I do also suffer with occipital headache frequently, interestingly enough. Again, this is an intense pressure-like sensation. Strangely similar sensation to the throat pressure.
Perhaps there are some neural connections from the C-6, C-7 area to the hypo-pharynx and larynx; I don't know. If any one is an expert on neural anatomy, please post.

How long had you been dealing with the throat pressure? I really wish the throat exercises would cut it for me. However, I agree that prayer to Jesus helps. Sometimes I feel a supernatural act of God is the only way out of this for me.
