Malik here, if u have been taking nicotine gums since u quit smoking then u should not have any withdrawals and withdrawals will start when u stop taking nicotine gums. I have 2 issues left since i quit 6 years ago, sinus and anixety. Sinus is manageable but anxity is painful and if i go back to nicotine it will be due to anxiety. U smoked for more then my age, give it some tome. I am 41 and smoked from15-35 years pack a day.

Hi, sorry about your anxiety....Sinus and anxiety for me too...even though I don't like taking pills, xanax has helped my anxiety....I take 1/2 a small dose only when I think I need it and it's more like a comfort knowing that I have that option and helps a little. Maybe that can help you.

Why do u need xanex when u get your nicotine from gums, i am completely nicotine free and i believe going back to nicotine will help with anxiety

Xanax is to help with anxiety since I don't having smoking to help me with it. I take the smallest dose and cut in half....Nicotine gum doesn't really do it for me and has become a crutch. I'm thinking that smoking again will help me feel better. I'm ashamed to say that I bought a pack of cigarettes yesterday (yikes, they're expensive!), but haven't opened it....scared to start again. I'm at 10 months quit and really don't want to start again. I may just check out the nicotine vaping to see if that helps. I am still waiting for blood work to see if low/high blood sugar is the cause of my foggy head and shakiness, sleepiness. I'm finding it extremely helpful to go back and read through all the postings....

I had similar question: "Would vaping help". I just tried the MyBlu vape pen after 2 years & 2 months of no cigs. Highly recommend the product for helping to QUIT SMOKING cigs but it did not help my brain fog, sleepiness, anxiety. I do recommend the Equate nicotine mints for anxiety, just don't use too many or it can be worse. The vaping after not smoking for so long ended up being a mistake. I was vaping every 30 minutes to try to feel better (it did not work) and did not have control over it like I did with the "mints" so I was vaping a lot. I quit vaping 3 days ago and have been using more mints than I originally used to quit smoking. Vaping is VERY addictive but the mints have not been. I don't recommend vaping at all for trying to relieve symptoms other than the initial withdrawal and believe the mints are a better option. I hope you don't start smoking again but I sure understand your situation. I feel I must choose whether I want to live without quality of life or go back to smoking. Surely there must be a better choice and we just have not found it. Best wishes.

Thanks Kathy....I will probably not try vaping....you're right I think...vaping is better to help quit smoking. I don't even crave smoking anymore, but the quality of life I once had is no longer there for me, so you're right....we have to make a choice I feel like I'm losing friends and have no interest or energy to do anything fun. It's a struggle just to get to work and function. Anti anxiety and anti depressant meds just make me feel weird and sick, so that is not an option for me. I wish I had a support system of friends near me who are going through the same thing.

I have lost friends also. It is hard to keep friends when you are a zombie. I think my mother has actually thought of telling me to start smoking again b/c she feels so bad about telling me to quit. Any chance you live in the south (USA)?

No, I'm in Southern Calif.....You're right about keeping friends! My family wanted me to quit smoking too, so I hope your mom doesn't feel too bad. I don't know what I was thinking, but my mom passed away July 2017 and I quit smoking Nov 2017. I should have waited to quit, just to help me get through the grief of losing her. That's kind of why I thought I'd start smoking again....just to get me through this grief and depression period and then quit again after I get myself together.

I know if I get out and exercise that may help a lot. Do you get regular exercise and if so, has it helped you? I'm so unmotivated to start.....I need a walking buddy too :)

Short walks really helped me but I had to stop b/c of foot/leg problems which I never had until I quit smoking. I am not able to do hardly any walking before the pain takes over.

I waited to quit smoking until I was feeling very healthy. I thought that would make it easier but now I keep asking why did I do this to myself. I thought I was doing a good thing and I would be healthier. Did not turn out that way.

I go back to the doctor soon and if he does not "fix me", that may be the final straw. I hate for anyone to go back to smoking. It is a horrible feeling after that first puff of a cig. Such a let down for how long you made it. If you decide to start again, try smoking the least amount possible, just to get you back to feeling human again. Before I quit, I was smoking half a cig at a time and only 7 a day. Your body gets used to a certain amount and feels satisfied. Please let me know how it turns out. Wishing the best for you.

Malik here , sorry to hear your update. Yesterday i was about to buy vape then stopped and now u just discouraged. I am sorry for Nan as well. Well its too early for Nan to feel better ,its just 10 months quit for him. He should wait couple of years. I live in Australia where pack of 25 is now 24Us dollars, crazyyy. This year we got tobacco tax twice so smoking is out of question i believe here but still if any one of you start smoking and get the quality of life back and got rid of anxiety do let us know. Our minds were satiafied but not our bodies when we were smokers. Did u do vaping with nicotine liquid or without nicotine?

Hi Malik, $24 whoa, that is crazy high. I was using 24mg nicotine vape liquid which is much stronger than the cigs I smoked. Best I can tell, I was vaping much more than I smoked and did not get ANY relief. For all I know, smoking real cigs would not fix the problems that quitting caused. I agree that smoking does wonderful things mentally. Just wish it didn't kill you in the process. I will let everyone know about any future experiments I do to try to beat this. Good luck.

It was a total of 7 cigs a day just half at a time but curious why you think it would not hurt? I have heard even just one can cause health issues. I was already thinking if I could stay at 2 cigs a day I would not care but it's so easy for 2 to become 7. Thanks for your input.

7 cigs half at a time means u waste rest of the half, which is 3.5 ciggies I think its not much and wont hurt much

Kathy, please keep posting to let me know how it goes with the doctor and with your "get well journey". I would def like to keep in touch. I go back soon too to get blood work results. If I do decide to smoke again, I will definitely smoke the minimal amount....i never really smoked cigs all the way down to the filter anyway. I wish the best for you too....
