It’s really hard for me to see someone say they quit smoking because of a vape. This is a substitute. We cannot say we quit smoking if we’re using a substitute. It doesn’t work that way! Read the book Allan carrs easy way to quit smoking! It will help you to see that nicotine is actually the most dangerous thing in the cigarettes. It’s the drug that we’re all addicted too! It’s the nico demon that we all need to beat down! Please read this book so you too can become a happy, healthy non smoker :) By not smoking, you’re not giving up anything, you’re gaining a life of health and happiness :)
I know this post is a year old but I hope all worked out well. I have been drinking a cup of lemon juice, honey, and coconut oil with hot water each night about an hour before bed. Also started yoga for constipation. It's be wonderful. If I skip an evening I am miserable the next day. And as you said, stay away from processed foods. I have only been eating easily digestible foods and bone broth. Plus lots of water.
My mom, age 77, quit smoking in February this year after smoking 60 yrs. She was great prior to this, doctors kept pressuring her to quit so she did. Immediately, digestion problems started reflux, indigestion, heart burn, became lactose intolerant. So she decides to go to the doctor. Of course they start running every test in the world on her. My mom had congestive heart failure for 20 yrs. In those 20 yrs she had been healthier than most people I know. She never complained, was independent, had a pace maker and defibrillator, but she was still working part time and very active, she ate healthy and kept a positive attitude about everything. She was sent to a GI specialist because from the beginning of all of this, she complained that she felt as though whatever she ate was getting stuck in the beginning of her small intestines' right in the middle of her stomach. I kept saying it had to be from quitting smoking, that was the only thing that changed in her life. Doctors will not acknowledge this, they will never admit that something negative happens as a result of quitting smoking. Her GI specialist told her that she was not a candidate for a colonoscopy because she was too high of a risk for it due to her history of heart failure. 20 years she was doing so well, that her heart actually created it's own bypass because 20 yrs ago she had 100% blockage in two main arteries and could only be a candidate for heart transplant, but the heart was able to make it's own bypass, quite amazing to see. June of this year, was having a lower GI scan, not sure why because she kept showing them where the pain was but they do not listen. The day we had the scan done, we were in the emergency room the same night, she ended up in heart failure again after 20 yrs of absolutely NO problems. She had to go inpatient for a few days to be stabilized. Once she came home within a couple of weeks, we get a call that her PCP, her Cardiologist, and the GI specialist all gave the OK for her to have a colonoscopy. You know, my mom is old school and you don't question doctors because of course they know what they are doing. At this point she had lost so much weight, still struggling with diet and finding something to eat that did not upset her stomach, she developed anemia in the process. First week of August, colonoscopy was done and of course we were right back in the ER again with her back in heart failure for the second time, and worse this time of course. She was admitted inpatient again and this time in ICU and when rounds were done by the docs the next morning one came in and said "they had reviewed her records and they think, no wait, they know that it was the procedure that caused this to happen" the doctor then explained when you drink the prep for both these procedures that she had , that re-distributes the electrolytes in the body and also in turn re-distributes all fluid as well and if you have heart problems then the fluid goes straight to the heart. Which is apparently what the GI specialist knew ahead of time. From June until last week she had been inpatient a total of 5 times. She never could recover and was sent home on hospice two weeks ago, only to die last Thursday at 77yrs old. I have officially lost all hope in the medical system that treats us. Every treatment that she received was dictated by insurance guidelines, and insurance determined each time they sent her home not stabilized and still with fluid holding in her chest. She had to get on oxygen after the last hospital visit full time and was to the point she could not dress herself without getting out of breath. I have read too many testimonies of almost identical symptoms and situations of other people who reported identical symptoms as she had. It is not just coincidence that everyone on here experiences the same and similar issues. I hope no one else has to go through what I have had to witness on a daily basis these last 6 mths of her life at the hands of our medical system in this country. There is no medical system anymore and our elderly population is made to feel as though they are a burden to the world. It is truly a sad to witness. Sorry for the negativity. Over the last few years, I have heard stories from others in other situations where their family members were harmed and died as a result of the "medical care" they received. What I have observed and learned from reading many threads such as this one is, no processed foods, no sugar, lots of veggies and fruit and water and exercise is the key, and also acupuncture seems to be a winner as well. Processed sugar was never meant for human consumption I learned from the research I have done. Isn't that great? It was about profit, nothing else. I hope sharing this story at least helps one person. That is my reason for sharing. Happy Holidays to all.
Thank you for posting. I've been so tempted to "just smoke at night"! God I've never had so many digestive issues in my life. I'm on aloe vera and cucumbers. Mostly not eating a thing anymore. Too bloated and uncomfortable. Yup, one is too many and a thousand are not enough. Im going to suck it up and solider on!
My mom quit smoking Feb. 2022, she was 77 and had been smoking for about 60 yrs. She had a heart attack in 2003 and when that happened 20 yrs ago, she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, cardiomyopathy, and 100% blockage in 2 main arteries, and her ejection fraction was 10 when she left the hospital in 2003. She was not a candidate for bypass or stints due to her veins being so thin and she didn't have insurance so they put in a pacemaker/defibrillator. She managed to get off most of her medications over the years and she was completely independent, no one every knew she had been sick ever. She ate healthy, stayed active and worked two days a week so she could interact with people and she was very independent and took care of herself, she did her own grocery shopping, etc She never complained and did not entertain anyone who came with drama or negativity. At one point she was drinking Tahitian Noni Juice, and that contributed to her ejection fraction going back up to almost 45 at one point. She had gone back to smoking not long after the heart attack, and of course the doctors stayed on her to quit, so she finally decided to quit in Feb 2022. I saw her daily, and spoke to her multiple times a day. When she stopped smoking, within a week, indigestion, acid reflux, she would say her food felt like it was getting stuck right in the middle towards the bottom of her rib cage, where the esophagus meets whatever is next going to the stomach. The problems persisted, all digestive stomach problems. Immediately, I suggested it had to do with her quitting smoking, I am a problem solver, it seemed like the obvious thing to start with. She was fine before this, like she had some good years left to go. She didn't like going to the doctors, but she faithfully went when she couldn't figure out how to remedy it, she went to the professionals. Not one doctor would even entertain that this could have been a result of her quitting smoking, so I started researching and found MANY stories of people with the same exact symptoms she had and in the same place she was in pain, even down to being diagnosed with lactose intolerance at 77 yrs old. The pain was a lot for her to deal with and in the mean time, she was losing weight because it hurt to eat, and then the doctor was throwing more pills at her for everything and I was searching for anything. I could find. I did find one person who wrote about how the nicotine over the years pairs up with the digestive enzymes in our bodies and works with them to help the digestive system function and when you take that away, it supposedly flips your microbiome upside down and the only relief this guy found was to eat whole foods, no processed foods, no sugar, no dairy and to get up and move around daily. He also said it was not a fast remedy, he was about 4-6mths into it at that time that he was getting some relief. NO, I am not a doctor, I am reciting what someone else found as a remedy. In the meantime her PCP decided to have every organ checked out and every organ was working fine. The doctors were shocked as heck when they took a scan of her heart that was damaged from the first heart attack in 2003, remember no stints, no bypass. and she kept smoking, but her heart had literally grown it's own bypass around the arteries that were blocked over those years. I thought wow, our bodies really are very intelligent! Long story short. They sent her to a Gastro specialist in May, the first time he saw her he said no colonoscopy under any circumstances due to her heart condition. June 9, I took her for a gastro scan where she had to drink some stuff when we got there. 12 hrs later we are in the emergency room, she is heart failure for the first time in 20 yrs. So the Gastro dr, her PCP and her heart dr all decide that they have to figure out where the pain is coming from so, they schedule a colonoscopy in the beginning of August, 12 hrs later back to the ER and back in heart failure again this time even worse, the hospital informed us the next morning and explained to us it was the procedure that caused it and the how and why. They were still trying to convince her to swallow the camera, that was the last test to try on her, she finally refused. There wasn't much life left to her at this point, she was so anemic., she could hardly eat and they had to take blood from her weekly to check her coumadin levels, she tried to go back to work in the beginning of Nov. she was wanting to so bad but her body was so beat down from test after test, she passed in December. At one point in the middle of last summer after they threw her back into heart failure twice she came home on 23 different medications, she started out on just 5 and had been on just 5 meds for years. If just one dr would have admitted that maybe just maybe since the only thing that changed was she quit smoking, and did a lil research, she would be here today. and she did try to eat only whole foods, and was feeling a little better but she had also developed anemia and had no energy and was desperately just wanting to be back to herself that she was prior to quitting smoking in Feb. Sorry, this is long but I wanted to get this on here where many of you are experiencing the same exact symptoms as she did. If this helps one person, or anyone to just consider I've learned from many people if we just feed our bodies what it needs it has the ability to heal itself of everything, my mom's heart growing it's own bypass was all the confirmation I needed.
Hi everyone, I’m coming up to 12 weeks of being nicotine free, and I’m still burping like crazy, with the occasional spout of stomach problems / acid. Did anyone eventually get better?? I need some hope
I have the same issues with you bloating, pain, burp all the time..I'm in my 3rd month and my digestive system feels like sh*t...but ..I noticed something that scares me a lot because noone has mentioned it so I feel like I'm the only one and I'm scared..MY POOP FLOAT AFTER QUITING SMOKING...is there anyone else that this has happened to him??my poop float and have changed they smell very bad...so I started the exams ..MRI,blood test etc...is there anyone that after quit smoking has floating poop??
I had same problem. I have found out that out digestive tract has nicotine receptors. I have been quit for over 4 years. The best solution I have found is to do a 7 day 7mg nicotine patch every 3 months. I have had no problem with wanting to smoke from using this. There is lots of research on nicotine being helpful. I smoke from age 11 til age 55. My body did not know how to go without it. See if it helps and don't let anyone tell you it is a slip up.
