Just thought I would post something here that may help. My grandmother has been having UTIs and bladder infections since her surgery a few years ago. She's in the hospital AGAIN right now, and her body is just getting weaker-to the point she's wanting to give up fighting. We're calling her doctor and telling him we want her put on forskalin. It's an herbal remedy that causes the bladder walls to contract and remove any hidden fluid and bacteria that hide in them. That's why infections keep coming back. Once bacteria get into the bladder wall, it's nearly impossible to kill with antibiotics. This herb helps to purge the wall cells of the bacteria so they can be killed by antibiotics in the bladder or flushed from the body. Hopefully, I can post with her results and let you know if this helps.
hi there.....i've never sued anyone in my life but it sounds like this bladder sling procedure, done by using the product mentioned below, is life altering and not in a good way.
i was researching having the procedure done myself when i came across this site and realized women are having a lot of issues........so i started looking more closely and apparently there has been a problem with some the sling material recognized by the FDA in Oct 2008 which leads to sling removal...i.e., more surgery and more pain and suffering
.......look in to it gals and for now, i'm just going to have to keep on using the annoying pads i guess.....arggggg ! wishing you all the best!

I have been having re-current UTI's after the sling surgery in August 2008. I have been on about 6 different antibiotics. Always a different bug. I am very disappointed. I exchanged one problem for another. Now, my doctor is wanting me to get a kidney ex-ray and next look into the bladder. Any advice? I have tried cutting out caffeine, drinking more water, apple cidar vinegar. My doctor seems stumped...
I have had the bladder sling since January, 2006. Since that time I have had numerous UTI's and two really bad kidney infections.
I am thinking about having the sling removed. I would rather be incontinent and wear a pad than continue to have these infections.
If it can be removed, what are the possible problems besides the return of incontinence.
Thank you.

I tried the diapers and the plastic irritated my skin and caused rash plus they added bulk to my figure. I switched to unscented self-adhering Maxi-pads and they work great until I find a cure for the incontinence. Good luck.
I had the sling surgery done 3 months ago and I have to complain. I hate it. I feel so much pressure all the time and I'm scared to death to go back to the doctor. Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks
Thanks
I have not had this done to me yet. But reading what all of you had complained about. I am wondering if I should even let them try and fix my problem. I am 39 years old. I had a hysterectomy done 10 years ago and that is when my problem began for me. I can not even sleep on my stomach because my lower back becomes in extreme pain. I complained about that two weeks after my hysterectomy and my doctor just said nothing about it. It was not a concern. My problem is when I laugh, cough, etc it leaks and I can not control it. I am wondering if I should just deal with it.
I had the mesh sling to raise my bladder 3/31/08. Have had NOTHING but problems ever since. Constant infections, had to wear a PICLINE for IV antibiotics to my own father's funeral. No oral antibiotic will help and the side effects to the IV is hearing loss. I have to use a catheter each time I need to pee. It is my conclusion that when we begin to suffer from leakage, it's actually time to have a tummy tuck where they tighten the abdominal muscles. I've had friends who had the sling with no problems, but for me it's been a nightmare that I haven't woke up from yet!
Ladies this is scary I just had my surgery I had my rectum, uterus and my bladder put back to normal position since they were all coming down and I also got a sling put in to help my bladder from leaking. I don't leak anymore but this surgery was on 4/2/09 and I already had my first yeast infection. This is scary cause I never usto get infections. When I saw my doctor I asked what caused the infection all he reply was that all women gets them. That was wierd to me but I thought he should know. He gave me antibiotic for the infection and another one to prevent bacteria. Now this is to be worried about. %-)
hi all just been on this web site and felt i needed to write this i had a sling fitted in may 2005 the first year fine was impressed with my op. until 2006 started having water infections ever since every month .i saw a uroligist he said to drink plenty of fluids if i feel i am getting an infection go to my doctor for antibiotics couldnt take any more with feeling poorly and taking time of work went back to my doctor who refered me to an other uroligist who sent me to have camera inserted to my bladder and found the sling had eroded into my bladder and uretha which has left a large hole that now needs surgery they are taking sling out and stitched the hole up then do skin graft so i will have an abdominal catheter for 4 weeks then may need surgery later on if i leak all this will take place on 27th may 2009 : [/enc]
Hi ladies! I've been meaning to post on this thread for awhile now - I found this thread when I was investigating the problem I was having with recurring urinary tract infections after having the urethral sling surgery in Sept 2008. A month after surgery I got my first UTI - I hadn't had a UTI in 20 years. They continued month after month for 5 months - each time I got more antibiotics, which I hate. I was at my wits end and was seriously doubting that the surgery was a good idea, when I decided to go see the urologist one more time and have a "heart to heart" about the situation - maybe the sling needed to be removed. I'll spare you the details but eventually I overcame this problem and now I'm 100% happy with the results of my surgery!! Here's what finally broke the cycle of UTIs I was having: 1) started taking probiotics every day!! Personally I think this was the key for me - my normal healthy balance of flora was majorly disrupted by surgery and using the catheter 2) started taking Detrol LA every day (which I hope to someday stop taking although I've not had a single side effect) 3) started really really trying to empty my bladder every time I urinated - this took A LOT of time and patience but now I've got it down. I can definitely tell when my bladder is or isn't emptied all the way.
So for all you ladies who are struggling post-op with recurring infections, PLEASE consider at least starting on probiotics immediately! I'm hopeful that you will all find the right treatment to help you get past the post-op UTIs!! It is BLISSFUL to be able to run, jump, sneeze, cough and laugh with no leaks!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello,
I too have had recurrent bladder infections since I have had the sling surgery for my bladder. Which was March 20th, 2009. I have had three since then and is now July. I am frustrated and tired of the discomfort and taking antibiodics. Think I may have one again. Was wondering if maybe my bladder is emptying correctly. Going to the doctor next week and hopefully they will have a solution. I also am or have not had intercourse since the surgery so am really baffled by this.

I have ask my doctor why? he said he don't know why, well I am not happy with that, plus when I am having my infections I can't hold
my bladder at all, it like a water facuet turn on. Plus I have been having pain in my lower back and in my hips since then and I getting
worse I ask him why? he said that has nothing to do with my surgery. I been missing time from work and I am now wishing I had
not had this surgery.
I see my family MD tomorrow as he the one I saw last week for this new infection I had he wants to test me while I am still on
the medicine I going to ask him what he thinks I need to do.
if help here will be welcome.

i had the bioarc (made of pig skin) sling surgery done in july for stress incontinence. i was told my bladder didn't need the sling but my urethra did. following surgery unable to void at all. sent home with foley catheter for 5 days. returned to doctor able to void but not completely. foley catheter for another 6 days. was able to completely empty bladder then but have had constant UTI's since. i have never had a UTI prior. wondering if i traded one problem for another. i have been on 4 different doses of antibiotics since the surgery the last one being for 20 days. cleared up finally but within one week symptons returning. seems to be a trend on this post. anyone find a solution yet?
