WOW...I had bladder sling surgery in 2008 for bladder prolapse and incontinence and for the last 3-31/2 years I have not been completely free of a UTI plus my incontinence is 100% worse ..have been on all kinds of antibiotics, have had a cystoscopy that didn't show anything...my doctors are stumped...Dr said the sling is in place, but I am wondering if there is something the sling is made of that is causing the problem, but I don't know where to go to find out . Good luck to u

I had a complete hysterectomy in February 2003 (LAVH), I was found to have cervical cancer with that pathology. The following year stress incontinence started, i dealt with that until May 2008, when I had the TVT procedure, which seemed to be successful for the most part. Starting in December 2012, I noticed that I was having a lot pressure and bladder pain. In April 2013, I had a kidney and UTI that produced multiple bi-lateral kidney stones, as well as blocking the right kidney and causing hydronephrosis. I have had nothing but constant infections since April 2013 and stone analysis shows they are caused by infection. I can finish antibiotics and have to start another round within days to a week. I am currently on my 6th infection since April. I am starting to believe the mesh is some how infected and is causing the constant infections that will not clear up. I have to have a cystoscopy done on July 17, 2013, the mesh will also be examined during this produce to see if it is the cause of the infections. if it turns out that it is the cause, I am planning on getting it removed and looking into another procedure to correct the incontinence, I do not want to get another implant put in with the risk that it would not be successful or that I would have more problems than I have right now. If anyone has a had a mesh removal due to infection, I would be interested in hearing from you to know of your experience.

The urologist was focused on the cause of the stones but has realized that the infections are originating in the bladder and the bladder is the cause. I mentioned the possibility of the mesh causing it and i was told that it is a possibility. I wont know more until after the cystoscopy is done, to reveal whether there is erosion into the bladder from it.

I too have had an infection since my sling 2 yrs ago. Each time a different bacteria. I have done the steroid intillments/which
helped for awhile. I finally had to leave my job due to limited facilitys (one toilet) 50 employees. Not one bathroom, literally only one toilet for all.

I had 13 bladder infections in 9 mos. from the mesh. The cysto only shows erosion in the bladder. The only test that can see the mesh is the translabial ultrasound, and the only place that does FULl removals and does this this test is ucla in Los Angeles CA, Dr. Larissa Rodriguez/Dr. Raz

I had my sling put in 5 years ago bc of a prolapsed bladder and incontinence. I had a botched partial hysterectomy many years ago during childbirth. Now I have UTIS,kidney infections, kidney stones and pelvic inflammatory. I am running out of antibiotics that work. I unfortunately I had no choice on sling. The procedure I had 10 years ago they no longer use and its time was up on working. I am ready to take this stupid thing out, but now I see on tv all the lawyers that wanna take your case for the health issues related to the bladder sling. Is this what its gonna be like with this sling for the rest of my life? Plus I still have to wear poise pads or sanitary napkins, I thought I was done with all that but apparently not...anyone in same boat

How did you know UTI's were caused by the mesh? I'm suffering greatly with UTI's, but it didn't start until 8 years after surgery. Doctor is hesitant to say it is sling, but I can find no other reason. I probably had 2 UTI's 20 years ago, then none until this past year. Now I average about one a month. Most antibiotics make me sick and I need to take them with an anti-vomiting med. I am miserable and desperately looking for answers. Can anyone please give me some advice?

I had a partial hysta and bladder sling due to incontinence in 2009. I have had none stop UTI's *two a month* with high counts of E-coli. I have cramps that radiate from my abdomen down to my lower vagina so bad that I scream out. I just read up on Marshmellow Root that other sling women who are suffering from constant UTI's are using and its working for them. I just ordered some and hopefully this stops these UTI's and pain. I will keep you updated.

Was the sling removed?

It would be really wonderful, if you learned proper grammar as well, before attacking others on their spelling

Proper grammar or not...my 83 mother has been having horrible reoccuring bladder infections/uti's and I fear for her.  They knock the props out from under her and I don't understand why her doctor doesn't send her to a specialist when she's had numerous ones this year alone.  I hope someone out there knows what could be done.  She had her bladder tied up years ago and has suffered ever since.  I just am at my wits end because she is so miserable most of the time.  We've been to emergency, urgent care and the doctor and no one seems to do anything but prescribe antibiotics and the red pills for pain.  Disgusting after so many times that the doctor doesn't think she's worthy to go to the specialist.  Hmm?

"Learnt" is not even a word. Maybe you are the one who needs a dictionary. Just saying....
