So what did you wind up doing? I'm in the same boat as many on this site with the same chronic UTI's every week or so, it's driving me mad and I live in the part of the country where the medical community is lacking in every way; I do not know who to go to anymore, what to do. Ongoing since my surgery (mesh) in 2003, UTI's increasing annually to now every 1 to 2 weeks reoccurring and doctor's either throw more antibiotics at me or withhold them even when I need them. I'm freaked out as I know I need specific help and a specific diagnosis and treatment plan...I don't know what to do, hoping I can learn from those who have already obtained a sustainable remedial plan from their physician.

supris retropubic sling was inserted by me a year ago i ever had just problems, sexual intercourse is bad, constipation , my bladder is not emptying in full at all i went for an urudynamic test, blood tests , more urine test , some of the urine is staying behind and is causing constantly urine infections i live in south africa

I had pain in my left side of vagina when having intercourse, after my total hysterectomy and bladder sling for 4 months and went to my regular gynecologist who found that I had an open sore that had not healed, so he cauterized it, and I felt immediate relief. He explained that this can happen after a. total hysterectomy with sling.. Also, it took me 8 months before lower pain in stomach and pain in left leg healed. Just be sure not to overdue, lift heavy objects, and give yourself time to heal. It will be get better, but be sure to follow-up with your regular gynecologist about soreness during intercourse.
5 years out and who really knows what to do. Probiotics everyday, cranberry pills...etc.
I moved out of the state I was in and now the new doctor thinks it's the tvt, wants to redo it and says if I don't then I may be soon enough looking at self cathing. I'm 42 and I am over it all. I have very little hope that the infections will stop, that intercourse will ever be good again. I see no end in sight. Sorry but I don't think anyone really knows what to do.
I have considered hoping on the lawsuits regarding all these sling and meshes but the moral aspect just kills me. Good luck.

I think after 5 years and several remedial surgeries that there is no real answer. It's a surgical guessing game and I'm just sick of it all now.

I had bladder surgery on May 11,2016. I have never had a urinary bladder infection in my whole life. I am now on a second round of antibiotics for infection # 2. What is going on??!'
I received my bladder sling in 12/
2007. I immediately had UTIs constant. I have four colonized bacteria that take turns affecting me every few weeks. My bacteria is incurable. Just today 9 years later I have a sever klebsiella pneumonae 4+bacteria. Also E Coli and Otaca klebsiella. 9 years of this has worn down my immune system. I live on antibiotics. My doctors have considered putting a port in as I am resistant to many medications. I have had sepsis and that was scary. Each bacteria has a different smell-////gross. I still have inconvenience and urge urine loss. Constant kidney pain. I hate being a Guinea pig.
I have numerous doctors and they do not recommend removal. Trying to keep sepsis at bay which I had once. So sick. Sling was put in 2007. The infection began 6 weeks later. I have no answers I am sorry. It has affected my life beyond compare. Constant leakage.
AZO over the counter for urinary pain is my keep on hand medicine also AZO for yeast. I have multi-resistant bacteria for nine years now. No sex life because of the pain. Bladder sling is a daily battle and fear of sepsis which I have had.
