I posted earlier and was worried about my results. I had rhinoplasty on 3.3.3009 and went through sort of an emotional shock when my bandages were still on and after they were taken off. Right after I got my bandages off my bridge was so big and my nostrils were uneven. I could see the uneven nostrils with the bandages still on. However everyday for about two weeks after I noticed changes, I was still a little disappointed. However, today April 17th my nose is starting to look great. My bridge has went down, but my nostrils are still a little uneven, but, not very noticeable. Mr. Dr said by July I would be even better. I am no longer regretting surgery. I do still however have blood in my mucus. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I have been writting about my post op hump on several forums.I have been upset and sad over my results. Today I went to my 1 month post op with my PS. I asked him whats the deal with the hump I paid you to remove, If its swelling why does it feel hard like bone? Well he did confirm that it's bone and he didn't rasp enough of the bone off. As mad as I've been about the hump, and I did give him a piece of my mind, I was glad he did not jerk me around and tell me it was swelling. Well he gave me a shot and it evened out. He is going to give me another in a month and one at 1 year. PS said that if in a year I was still not satisfied he will do a small closed procedure to rasp the rest of the bone. I am only one month post op so I do still have alot of swelling. Hey but the shot really worked and did not hurt at all.

Well he will probally not charge you the full price of the second surgery but you probally will pay half. I come not imagine doing a second surgury the following year.

I had my rhinoplasty surgery on 04/21/09, and let me tell you after reading all these comments, I am very lucky and greatful. My surgeon was excellent and I can honestly say that I was only bruised for litterly 5 days. And most of my swelling is gone. I had a huge hump and my nose had no shape, other than looking like a mixture of a beak and a witch nose. And let me tell you it looks great and people and even I were able to see the results that same day. I haven't felt or seen my nose huge at all, nor did I have any pain since day one. I am very happy that I did my surtgery and my surgeon has changed my life, I feel so confident now. If any of you are interested in a great surgeon let me know. My surgeon also did lipo on me and augmentation last year and believe me I haven't weared a bikini in over 17 years and now I can. Sorry to all those people that have had a bad experienced, but don't give up hope.

After reading all of these posts (mostly negative) I feel hopeless and scared. I had my surgery on June 2, 2009 and the bandages came off today. I look SO bad! I had the works done after living over 10 years with my first awful rhinoplasty and a deviated septum that my insurance had paid to have fixed but wasn't. This current doctor had to do reconstructive surgery to repair what the first doctor had done so I know there was a chance I would not LOVE it. But I never thought I would literally HATE it.
I thought I would see if others had felt the same way at first but perhaps after a few weeks it got better but just about everyone here is saying the same thing. That it is practically hopeless - hardly anyone has posted that there was improvement. I feel worse now.

It has been two days since I posted how hopeless I was feeling. I thought it was important that I update how my nose looks only two days later ... June 2, 2009 was my surgery ... it has only been 8 days and it looks WORLDS better! Still not the result I had hoped yet ... but the fact that it looks this good already gives me hope again. For all of those people who are just getting the bandages off and are disappointed, just give it a few more days before you decide to hate it.

Good lord, people. Didn't your surgeons tell you that the swelling won't go down for MONTHS? And don't even THINK about a revision surgery until after AT LEAST 9 months.
Gosh you people are impatient! Surgeons aren't magicians!

guys.. listen.. hope my post would be useful for all who had nose jobs.. I had my nose 1st nose job at the age of 17 i.e 6 years ago and was shocked to see myself soon after my nose packing was removed as my bulbous nose was looking worse.. It was a week after the surgery.. No way but to suicide.. I attempeted but failed. I was taken to a psychologist and was asked to wait strictly for 2 months time without even looking at the mirror.. Thanks to both my plastic surgeon and the psychologist.. I got the nose I desired.. Even now also I had another nose job a couple of weeks ago and still have my dorsum so wide and swollen. But nothing to worry I know coz its just a month's time or 2.. Bye the way I'm Pete,

I have rhinoplasty about year ago and yes the swelling looked awful at first but it went down and then it looked great. then about 3 months later i started to notice a dent on the bridge. i had to have a second surgery to fix that, and that was about 4 months ago. now the dent is coming back again just as bad as before. i have no idea whats going on but it looks like i will have to have a 3rd surgery. im really pissed. and its not like i went to a bad doctor, i went supposedly the best in canada, and paid a ridiculous amount of money.

I had my rhinoplasty done a week ago (open) to remove the hump and make my nostrils smaller.
im a little afraid after all these posts to get everything removed tomorrow =/ im So happy to take this c**p off my face though, its so annoying.
i never got swollen though, very slightly i did. my eyes never got black and blue, havent even really been taking my pain killers.
hopefully it stays that way although I expect to be really sore and swollen once the cast is removed.

Guest with nose dent. I also have a slight dent from my surgery. You already had two nose jobs. One more and you are going to have a michel jackson nose. Each one weakens the bone structure and can be broken more easily. Just accept what you have before you ruin your nose. If the doctor could not get it right the first 2 times why go back. This surgery is not a science annd it does not come out perfect.

You guys really need to calm down. Having had Rhino six days ago I know what you are talking about. The tip is that last area for the swelling to subside...we all know that, right? The surgeons tell us that...the people who have had the a rhino in the past will tell you that. Relax, stop obsessing over it and give it time!! and I dont think its appropriate to post the Dr's name that gave you the Rhino.
Chill!

Oh my gosh, thank goodness for this site!
You guys are just angels for reaching out and being so honest about all your experiences.
Like others here have said, and now I as well, it feels fantastic to know you're not alone.
I had my nose done 1 week ago (on Aug. 18th) and I got my bandage removed 2 days ago (Aug. 24th).
The doctor lied me down on the chair with his apprentice standing by as he removed the package and wiped off my nose.
I couldn't see myself while he was doing it, but they both kept going "it looks perfect" so I became extremely anxious.
Finally he asked me to go look in the mirror.
Holy...mother...of God!
I almost had a heart attack, I literally looked like one of the munchkin people from "the wizard of oz"!
It still now looks like an elf's nose!
The overall size did decrease which was nice, but my tip still looks swollen and bulbous.
I nervously told him it looks great and left his office with a quick good bye.
I have another appointment on Friday to remove the rest of the stitches he couldn't remove on Monday.
The problems with my nose before were a very wide bridge and a drooping tip that slanted down when I smiled.
Well now I don't even know what it does when I smile because I can't smile all the way.
I still have stitches on the inside of my upper lip, so they're preventing me from smiling all the way to where you can see my upper teeth.
When I smile I look mentally challenged (no offense to anybody here with mentally impaired loved ones).
Also besides the fact that the tip looks like a gumball, it's mostly numb and doesn't move if I make a facial expression.
Anyhow, after reading all these comments, I realize I'm being impatient and ignoring certain facts like that swelling lasts longer on the tip of the nose.
So I will give it more time, but school starts on Monday (Aug. 31st) so you can imagine my frustration that my first impression will be that I probably help Santa Clause make toys in his factory every Christmas.
I'll keep you guys posted on the progress, I'm just terrified of being one of those cases that didn't see any decrease of the "swelling" after 2 months.
Damn it, I didn't expect perfection, I'm sure none of the other ones here complaining did either, but we did all expect something we could at least "live with" right?
Right now, when entering a store, everybody just keeps staring at my nose like "this guy's nose is as fake as Pam Anderson's boobs".
It looks like the nose of a ceramic garden gnome.
Here's a before and an after:
If anybody here dare's to utter the phrase "It looks fine, stop whining, you can totally live with it", I will seriously hunt you down and kill you.
Anyhow, I'll keep posting progress pictures as time goes by.
Hopefully it will improve and I'll be a reminder to all future readers here that the key is to be patient and just give it time.

Day 12:
Nose is still huge, I just took a more human looking picture.
By the way, the pic before this one (where I resemble Frankenstein) is from approximately day 7.
Still got a long way to go.
I didn't expect to be one of those "The swelling started to subside after 6 months" people.
I hope I won't be one of those.
I'm hoping by day 30 there will be a notable difference.
It's the first day of school today.
This is the way I'll be looking.
Ugh, I already feel like calling in sick. lol.

I had my first rhinoplasty last August. I had the bridge and tip worked on. Trust me, the first few weeks, were hard to get through. Besides being swollen and bruised, I was extremely depressed thinking it was going to stay that way forever...it doesn't! It will go away. My nose wasn't like the magazine pictures I had brought with me, but it was a big improvement from my original nose. Unfortunately, I think it was 8 months after my surgery, when all of the swelling was almost gone, that I began noticing a n=bump on my bridge! I had just paid $8000 to get my nose done and now I have a bump, wtf! My last follow-up appointment with my doctor was this past August (a year after my original rhinoplasty). I told him and pointed out to him the bump that was now there that I was unhappy with, and he agree to do a revision to rasp down the bump. I was literally jumping up and down in the office with joy, because I did not want to pay all that money again when I thought it should've been done the first time! Anyways, I just had my revision last Tuesday. I got my bandage off today, and there is this small round hard bump on my nose! the bridge is a ton better than before, but now there is this small round hard bump on my nose. I know i know, wait for the swelling to go down, but I know this is bone! I don't want to go through a revision again! But i def need it. you can feel it with your finger and see it. I am getting married next June, and I am so upset right now, that my revision didn't solve my problem. I called the doctor today but he wasn't in...I am hoping he can do a quick procedure and get rid of this little bump once and for all. Has anyone gotten the bridge of their nose shaved or rasped down, then had a small tiny bump, almost looks like a pimple on your nose, but hard as a rock?? Im depressed as well having gone through this twice. But everyone who does not wanna look at themsleves in the mirror because of swelling..trust me it will go away! I am trying to remind myself of the same thing for the second time!
