Like the patient above my rhinoplasty was pushed up and nostrils were flaring and I was so upset with all the swelling until 4 weeks down the line I really like how it was starting to look bc all of the swelling went down, Until just last month!
It is about 1 year from the day I had the surgery and the tip of my bridge has collapsed, causing an ugly looking bump in the middle of my bridge. I went to Dr. Lee to narrow my nose and to give it a little height. I didn't expect it to collapse in about 1 year. Also, the scars he created we stitch so sloppy that it is more visible after I got a tan this past summer.
I called him up and Dr. Lee told me that this is a side effect that could happen to the nose. So why wasn't I told about this before. He offer to fix it but it would cost me about the same as the 1st procedure. I don't trust him anymore and I wish I read more forums about his "mistakes" before I went to see him ='(

I had my Rhino on 20th Sep 2010, like with a lot of the above experiences, when my splint was removed I nearly fainted as what I saw was horrendous. My nose looked awful, my husband, bless him, didnt say anything but his face said it all. My nose looked like a pig. I had stressed before my surgery that I didnt want to end up with an up turned nose or a piggy nose, and my surgeon re assured me he was 100% sure of what I wanted. I attempted to return to work 2 days after the splint was removed and ended up having an anxiety attack at work out of fear that my nose will remain this way and that I had just made the biggest mistake of my life. My husband took me back to the clinic today to speak to my original consultant and I have to say I do feel better. My consultant, who has also had nose surgery, knew exactly what I was going through and said it was normal. she said that she felt like a pig and couldn't face anyone when she first had it done, but said it would take at least 6 weeks before i would start to notice the difference. Not in a big headed way, but I saw my self as a presentable, attractive young woman, and the fear i felt before speaking to the consultant today that i had ruined my face was immense, however after reading the previous posts and hearing today'a advise i am confident that it will look better with time! In the mean time i will continue to pray and keep my finger crossed.
Thank you all so much.

I just laid down to sleep and the anxiety of my new nose is driving me insane. So I got out of bed and googled a little and found this site.
Seems alot of ppl are complaining about the same thing as me. I have that feeling of a fat nose, pig snout, or asterix cartoon. I'm just not sure if this affects all Rhino patients or just us. In any case, I'm really worried about how my nose is going to look... I feel like my face looks like that of a scottish terrier...
My doc told me if I apply even pressure with my fingers along the length of the entire nose for 60 seconds, 10 times a day. That will narrow the nose out over the course of the next several weeks. I tried it and it does look MUCH better for several seconds after I removed my fingers. He warned me not to narrow too much though as years down the line, my nose would look plastic if it's too thin.
I'm gonna give it till friday to see if there's less swelling and if it's still extremely wide, than I will start the squeeze treatments and see how that goes. My nose does look significantly better after a 1 minute squeeze.
Keep you all posted.

Every couple of hours poor ice cold water over both sides of your nose. If you're from a very cold country like me, just let cold tap water run over your nose.
No more than 30 seconds per side.
It's much quicker, evenly spread and softer than holding an icepack or crushed ice against a nose that already hurts when you touch it gently.
I'm at day 7 post operation now. Started with this yesterday (when I felt like a Muppet!) and today I'm already looking much better. Got a long way to go, but this is truly helpful for me.
I also stroke the swelling away from my nose VERY softly.
Just fyi, they broke my bone to remove a prominent bump and placed cartilage in the tip.

Keep ice on the area around the nose and take arnica and use the topical. At one month I look fine, just a hint of brusing. The tip of my nose looks a little bulbous, still bigger than I'd like, but he said my skin is thick so it was big to begin with. He said I can expect swelling to decrese 25% over the next year. The hump is gone and I can breath so I'll be happy with that.
Everyone heals differently, give it a month at least and let me know! Good luck.

Once again, I'll post. I did not have the pig nose thing going on. They say the tip will drop. You have to give this surgery a YEAR.
I am 2 months post op. The tip looks bulbous, but was before the surgery as well. The surgeon said it will go down another 25% over the year.
He said the skin is thick so It will only look so good. It must be my constant sun exposure since I work outside in Fla.
Be paitcent as it is a LONG recovery. The bones are healed 80% after 2 months, then the other 20%, take a YEAR!
Hang in there before panic.
