There's no doubt that cardio, like running and jogging, should be a part of your exercise routine no matter what your goals are. The question is when you should do it. Certainly not in the morning before you even eat breakfast. Also, if you go to the gym right after cardio, for weight lifting, know that fat burning from cardio happens about a few hours after you did the cardio. You will exhaust your muscles and crash fast. This is not the way to gain muscle! Then, you might think you're seeing side effects from joining the gym and working out there but it's actually because you went for a run beforehand.
Hey Ricky,
You need to consider what your ultimate goals are in exercising. If you're looking to get lean and increase your muscular endurance, sprinting before going to the gym is a very appropriate means of doing so. However, if you're looking to build muscle mass, sprint training prior to a session at the gym will fatigue your muscles and hinder your performance in the gym, and thus limit your muscle growth. Running before going to the gym will not "burn" muscles, but it will limit how much you can lift while in the gym because you've used energy and nutrients in your sprint training. If you are looking for a bodybuilder physique you should go to the gym first, and perform cardio after. If you have any other questions feel free to message me
Hope this helps,
cheers.
