Hello,
I am a 36 year old female, and have the same thing for quite some time. Now that I know Im not crazy I willlook into this with my Dr. as well. I've been in several car accidents when I was younger, and maybe this has something to di with the spine/apinal fluid as someone mentioned above. Anyhow, I felt the need to respond as it helped me to see other people have the same issue. When I lay onto my stomach and lift my head up (to look at my laptop or book)I get a pulsing, pressurized feeling in my head which gets worse, and my hearing starts to disappear. if I lay my head down it passes, but it happens alot. So far this seems to be mostly femalesn responding to this discussion so that is also interesting to me. Thanks for everyone's feedback, and be sure to check with your Dr's.!
I feel that imma throw up sumtimes and others i just have pain in my back and stomach and most times it hurts to where i have to lay down so that it can go away.
I'm a 20 year old female. I was diagnosed with Orthostatic Intolerance when I was just 14. I have had this same exact problem now, since I was diagnosed with OI, and a year before at age 13, I had a bad accident, falling off a horse and damaging my spine, leaving me with narrowing disks in my lower back, causing the scaitic nerve to become inflamed all the time.. So maybe OI plus the spinal injury is my reason for POTS?
I didn't know what was going on! I had got to the point where I would refuse to lay on my stomach, even to sleep. My had would get dizzy, I would get a ringing noise in my ear, my vision would go splotchy too.. It scared me and my parents at the time, didn't believe a word I was saying just because I was 14. This is such a relief knowing that I'm not the only one that has this, and it's not just something in my head.
I am a 26 year old female who was just wondering about this. I just laid down on my stomach to use my computer and all the blood rushed from my head and I got a bad headache, saw spots when I closed my eyes, felt dizzy. I laid on my side for a second and everything is fine. This does not happen to me everytime I lay on my stomach and prop my head up on my hands actually, but it happens often. I always think it has to do with how tired my body is or how I eat.
I wanted to point out something interesting that may be a coincidence? Everyone replying to this post is a female/woman... any relation?
I'm 33 female, have 2kids. When I lay on my stomach I get pressure and a whooshing sound so loud in my ears that my hearing starts to go away. I know I suffer from plain ol fatigue and exhaustion from my 2 special needs children. I have no clue why this happens though!
The first time I had this experience I had to be rushed to the ER because in addition to the vision disturbance, the strange construction sound in the ears, rapid heartbeat, I also had difficulty breathing and could not talk, my arms and legs were so numb, and I felt extremely weak.
Since my surgery, these symptoms have deceased when I lie down on my stomach. It also happens when I stand up quickly after sitting down for some time.
I have also been diagnosed with increased intracranial pressure and swollen optic nerves.
My advice to anyone who has symptoms similar to the ones everyone is describing is to go to a NEUROSURGEON (not a neurologist) and describe your symptoms and ask for an MRI of the brain and neck.
I've been suffering from these symptoms for over 14 years and after I had my daughter (2 years ago) is when the symptoms were no longer bearable. Anyway, neurologists used to send me home with migraine medication and would tell me I just had to take meds for the "headaches" for the rest of my life.
I hope my story helps.
I am a 27 yo male with the same issue. I was wondering if anybody thinks it could be related to wisdom teeth? If I lay on my stomach for a few minutes and then sit up, it makes for a really bad pounding headache. I never got my wisdom teeth removed.
I also still have my wisdom teeth!
Couldn't it just be a change in blood pressure? (for those with more mild cases)
I also get the pressure in my head with weird vision problems when I lay on my stomach but that lasts for just a bit and will get better after a while. Same thing if you stand up too quickly or other things that will rapidly change your blood pressure. I don't think it's anything to worry about, I think it's a common thing.
Change in blood pressure can also cause migraines (which I've had once after laying on my stomach) and I also get ringing in my ears, or numb ears, etc. so what I've found to help is to slowly get into the position or lean to the side a bit so it's not such a rapid change. Hope this helps some of your worries~
btw - I don't have my wisdom teeth.
