It could be your pancreas, you may also experience pain in your upper back area. Drinking water wont help, stopping alcohol will! Do it! or you might end up with Diabetes, pancreatis or worse.

Its totally down to the amount your drinking, with what it sounds its not serious its just your liver over working maybe slow down and always try and make sure you eat.

Hello. I'm 25 years old and female. I've been drinking heavily since age 23 and recently stopped drinking since the beginning of 2014. When I was drinking I would drink to the point of passing out every day, seven days a week for two years. I should have cut back when I began to notice a pain in my left side right below the ribs. Closer to my stomach than my side. At first it was an annoyance, and then it became impossible to sleep on. I stopped drinking, because the last night I binged on alcohol I remember feeling sick. Not nauseous, but it felt like my body was shutting down. So I immediately forced myself to sleep and woke up the next morning (I wouldn't recommend forcing yourself to sleep, though? I could have very well not woken up the way I was feeling. I probably should have gone to the emergency room). Regardless of the stupid decision. I had survived and quit drinking after that day and rarely felt the pain since. I'm here, however, because yesterday I decided to sit back and enjoy some peach schnapps. I didn't even get a quarter through the bottle before the pain presented itself again. This time I heeded the warnings and stopped drinking early. But now I'm worried damage done is going to hurt me in the future, even if I never drink any alcohol ever again. I don't have health insurance at the moment. So I'm kind of left to assume it's my liver or digestive issues.

your symptoms sound similar to mine... Im 26 iv been drinking heavily since i was 17 it started as self medication for anxiety but quickly escalated into a problem, started on the white cider after building a tolerance started drinking 9 litres a day, realising this was a problem moved onto beer to reduce my intake as it is more expensive then stummbled across polish shops that sell 7% strength cans of beer in england for £1 each the problem returned. I started getting back ache after drinking wen i reached 24 but recently after a 5 day session the pain is agonising its been three days with no sign of stopping i havent drank for 2 so il give it a bit more time before i see my doctor

I think you should get your Pancreas checked out we all think its the liver that just gets damaged but the Pancreas can also suffer very badly form Alcohol abuse even more so than the liver it can also be deadly if left unchecked , my advise quit booze now while your young other wise you could be storing up a lot of trouble in the near future.

I'm twenty five and I have been drinking about 40 oz of beer a night, about three nights a week since I turned twenty one. I had 40 oz two nights ago and then after about 12:00 pm the next day I started vomiting uncontrollably in the bathroom and I barely got through the work day. It continued through the night so I took today off to recover, and I have been able to eat again, but I have really bad abdominal pain. I know this means I should stop drinking, does anyone know if I should seek treatment, or how long this pain generally lasts? I'm just worried my liver shutdown.

Hi
This is what I have been told I have , however I'm petrified of hospitals and the thought of having surgery terrifies me , but it's so frustrating having this pain every time I have a drink , have you had the surgery yet? How was it?

I noticed that sometimes when I'm dehydrated, usually after drinking too much alcohol for two consecutive days, the lower left side of my back hurts. After I rehydrate it seems to go away, but it is worrisome. I always assumed it was my left kidney, but never have been to a doctor about it.

I'm a 34 year old male in generally good health. I woke up today with a dull pain in my lower back on the upper left and lower right sides, right about where my kidneys are. It's different than muscle pain, feels like they're inflamed, and has continued all day. No other symptoms, but it's really scaring me.
I've been a relatively heavy drinker for about 8 years or so, some periods heavier than others. This spiked 4 years ago after the birth of my first child to anywhere from 4 to 10 drinks daily. I'm admittedly bad with small children and after coming home from a taxing job, drinking is my immediate reaction to deal with the constant meltdowns and crying. I love my children and am not abusive by any means, alcohol has just been my means of coping.
I've known deep down that I can't continue at this rate and am taking this as a sign from God that it's time for things to change. This forum was a great find and is giving me some peace. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you who are scared, sick, and struggling.
I'm going to get everything checked out and will post back if there is anything abnormal.

Yes, the pain went away within two days or so. I stopped drinking since then and feel much better overall. It's hasn't been easy, but I don't think I can be a 1 - 2 drinks a day drinker. Still waiting on blood work to come back, but I'm expecting it to be normal. My gut says that my body was warning me and it isn't worth it to continue.
