Hi, I know you wrote this post a long time ago but I have the exact same thing. It began about 4 years ago. The pain / cramping begins about 10-7 days before my period every single month. Meds don't help, I usually just wait it out with a heating pad and sometimes for me laying in the fetal position makes it a little more bearable. Many times it wakes me up in the middle of the night. Some months I get the cramping a few times and other months it's multiple times a day.

I have seen some gyns who think it's endo and they want to do a lap on me. I don't think it's endo. I do not feel like my symptoms add up. I have had ultrasounds and they show a small fibroid but nothing else. I don't want an unnecessary exploratory surgery. I feel like my doctors just want to operate. I'm at a loss after seeing multiple doctors and I don't know where to turn next.

I tried birth control pills to see if that would calm it down. It made it a million times worse and I couldn't take it. I lasted a month but the cramping was so intense and frequent it was impossible to function.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one out there - it makes me feel less crazy.

This is me too but it happens every month. I usually have at least one crippling episode and the others are painful but I can still sit up and get through the pain without laying down or curling up in the fetal position. Sometimes I take a gas-x pill because I often feel bloated during these episodes. For me the only thing that helps is heat - it at least makes the episode bearable until it passes (usually 10-30 minutes). I'm still looking for an answer for what this is.

Hi everyone I hope this will help. Starting in December I began to have horrid pain prior to my period. I will last 4-7 days then when my period started it would stop. Went to OBGYN in Feb. and they told me to monitor my pain for a few months. Just went back yesterday and was told I have endometriosis. They doctor explained is when the endometrium (lining of your uterus grows out side of the uterus) So when your get close to your period and your hormones change that tissue reacts to it hormones thus causing the pain. You can only diagnose with keeping a log of pain or do exploritory surgery. Solution for now is the depo shot for me. After a few months my overies will not be producing the hormones that causes the tissue to cause pain.

I have this exact same problem, every single month. I have gone to the doctor so many times about this and they can't figure anything out. I know you wrote this a while ago, but I decided to get online and do some research to find someone who was experiencing the same pain. Out of curiosity have you found out what it is or anything to help with it?

Hello,

I am a 55 year old woman. On bioidentical hormones. almost in Menopause. Last 2 mths had some menstrual spotting. Lactose and Gluten intolerant. Do my best to follow my diet. I have been having this problem for about 10 years. Used to happen every 3 months, but hasn't happened for at least 6 mths or so. I went to bed today early as I wasn't feeling well and woke up with this. Feels like my lower abdominal muscles are frozen. So painful that is hard to get out of bed, walk or lay on my side. I Have 2 kids. My youngest is 16 so been awhile, but I am thinking this feels a lot like labor. Pain goes down through groin area and inner thighs. I have been to Gyno, done ultrasounds. She says is probably gastro related. Had colonoscopy. All clear. I am taking gasx and ibuprophen. Help, cant sleep, this sucks

This is exactly what I get every month. About 6 to 7 days before my period I have what I would guess feels like contraction like pains, really severe but they only last 10 - 20 minutes and happen 3 or 4 times a day. Triggers seem to be eating, going to the loo or exercising. Usually they disappear a couple of days before my period and other than (much less severe) cramping on the first day of my period for an hour or so, I'm pain free until the week before the next one. I've mentioned it to a few doctors and was just put on the pill which helped but now I'm off it it's gradually come back again and is now as excruciating as ever. One doctor said it was endometriosis, but another said it probably wasn't as I would have heavier periods and more pain throughout them.

I have these pains as well. It happens the week before my period. My doctor told me it's due to having low fiber and she suggested I take Benefiber. I did and the pains stopped. Also, if you lay flat and prop your feet up, the pain will subside in 10-15 minutes, sometimes sooner.

Look up endometriosis. I have this.i have the same symptoms you are describing now. My endo. Has progressed to having lesions around my colon and bladder which make it difficult to do many thing the week before and of my period. Pain meds do not help other than a Motrin or nsaid type drug no narcotics tho for me instant relief isn't worth the consequences of bowel blockages. Anyways d talk to my gym if o were you there are many options!

I've been suffering from THE SAME EXACT problem/symptoms the past decade on and off. It's always about a week before my period starts. It's always either brought on my a bowel movement or by sex. I had an ultrasound when I was 22 and the doctor said it may be that my ovaries produce an excessive amount of cysts. Another doctor recently said there is no way it is a ruptured cyst and its probably just a muscle spasm or gastro issue. Nobody seems to be able to pinpoint the problem. But it is the most severe pain I have ever felt. The last time it happened, I almost blacked out and had to be taken to the ER. Has anyone found any information or been to a doctor who actually had some answers???
