I had Novasure done in 2008. It was presented to me as a solution to cramps, I had no heavy bleeding. The only side effect I had for 5 years was weight gain, which was due to the surgery, I never had a weight problem in my life. A few years ago the pain began. I have cramps for weeks at a time. For the last month I have had severe stabbing pains in my uterus almost every day. I believe I have an adhesion(s) from this surgery. I only ever had cramps for 1-2 days during a period. Gyno can only recommend hysterectomy, which I will not do because I don't want the side effects, either hormonal or possible vaginal and bladder prolapse. They will down play that risk as well. The Novasure was the worst mistake of my life and I am paying for it dearly in pain. The only thing that has helped is castor oil packs every day. If you are looking to do this surgery, I would recommend trying everything possible to avoid it, alternative treatments like acupuncture could help. Castor oil packs would have helped me manage my pain before this, if I'd only knew.

I had mine done in 2008 (?) for heavy bleeding. Never had cramps before. After my procedure, I would have spotting. After about a year, I would get cramps the first day of my cycle when I relaxed and went to bed. Nothing a Midol wouldn't help. Have been very regular. I am now 50 and my periods have increased in volume and length. I think I'm probably peri menopausal. Last month lasted 16 days, but was light. Started yesterday and woke up with such severe cramps I had to get up and take something. After two hours of it just getting worse, I put a heating pad on it. Finally was able to go to sleep. I told my husband it rivaled childbirth. (I too had natural childbirth.) I'm at the point where I will see what happens next month, but will probably have to see my doctor.

I had an endometrial ablation 7 months ago and every month all I have is horrible debilitating cramps for days. No bleeding except some very light spotting.
I don’t know what to do at this point. It’s awful I would take back my 7-9 days of heavy bleeding over this.

My periods are devastatingly heavy after having ablation and cramps are extremely painful for DAYS. WTH???? This is horrible. Ice helps the uterus for a while, but I can’t sit at work like that. The flow is changing a super plus tampon every 1.5-2 hours for 3 days. This is madness. I would never recommend an ablation to anyone.

What i would like to know is why would these doctors do these procedures if so, many women have serious side effects such as this cramping, is this not supposed to stop all the bleeding and cramping, I mean then they are telling you, you now have more serious problems and may need hysterectomies, then why beat around the bush, just do the hysterectomies to begin with!

Please let us know what Mayo says. I have this debilitating pain only some months but it is worse than child birth. Gyno says it’s normal. It definitely is not. I never had pain like this before the ablation.
