I have read several post and yours sounds almost similar to my story. I had my surgery 2 1/2 - 3 yrs ago. I mostly spot with my menses where I only require a liner. During the last 6-9mo, I have had increasing Bright red flow(requiring a light pad) with severe back cramps. Feels like I am in labor(takes my breath away). Here lately, its like I am always on my period. I have the food cravings, moodiness, back cramps and extremely light spotting(but require a liner 2x/day). I called the OB/GYN today. I wanna know if I need to have a second ablation done. I don't miss the heavy periods to the point of hemorrhaging, but this too is becoming a pain in the neck.

Hi, I had an endometrial ablation in January 2014. My periods stopped in March 2014 and then started to have severe cramps that made me just want to curl up and cry. I went to my doctor and he just felt my tummy and said that my tummy felt ok and there was nothing wrong and prescribed me the mini pill!! The pill made no difference. Two weeks later I made an appointment with my doctor again, as I was still in chronic pain. My doctor was away so I saw a lady locum doctor. She was amazing, felt my tummy and gave me an internal exam and arranged an internal scan. Two weeks later I had my scan and it showed up that I have trapped fluid in my uterus and fallopian tubes and a fibroid. I have just been to see a consultant and we had a long discussion and I am now waiting for a datę for a hysterectomy. Turns out when I had the endometrial ablation done, it didn't destroy all of my uterus lining at the top corners, so basically the blood has got no where to go so it is backing up into the fallopian tubes. I was sterilized 12 years ago with clips, so the small space in the fallopian tubes where the fluid is trapped is swollen - hence the constant pain.
I know what you mean when you said curl up and cry, this pain is really bad. I had my EB June 30th this year. i have not had cramps like this since i was in labor 26 years ago. I had my tubes tied after the birth of my son. I am 50 now and was having very heavy and really long periods. I kept asking myself why am putting up with this. I have not needed a period for 26 years. IBs are not touching the pain. I am sick to my stomach and very bloated. What is the world is wrong with me? I called my OB and she did an exam and told me that I have a big polyp that was causing my heavy long periods and told me about the NovaSure and said that if would work for me. After the EB I have to still wear a liner , only a few days were pretty heavy spotting. I went to see my OB and told her about the pain and the weeks of spotting with a couple of day of light bleeding. She told me that there is nothing else she could do for me, next step is the hysterectomy.
OMG! I wanted to go through menopause naturally. My body is keeping the water retention and I fell like I could sleep all day everyday. I know that I am in perimenopause, I have a lot of symptoms that tells me that I will soon be going through menopause. My question is, should I wait is out or should I get the hysterectomy? My OB said that she wanted to see me back in a month. I guess what I am saying is I want to live my life without the pain. Thanks for any advise.
Hiya, I know how you feel about wanting menopause naturally. I think exactly the same but can't cope with the pain any more. When I get a datę for my hysterectomy I will let you know and will send you "progress reports" and it may help you with your decision. Take care xx
Thanks for your reply. This is day three that I am having this awful pain. My weekend plans totally ruined. Last night I got into a really hot tub of water and it helped knock the edge off and I went to bed. This morning I am spotting again with the awful pain. It feels like I have been on my period ever since the EB. I wear a liner all day everyday, just in case. My Mom never talked about this stuff to me. She passed seven years ago and I have no one to ask questions. My dad said that his mom passed a young age of stomach cancer. I ask him what kind of stomach cancer, there is a lot of things in your stomach. He did not know. The doctor said that the polyp was not cancer, (THANK GOD).

My friend just had a hysterectomy in April, she is still a mess. One minute she is telling me it is the best thing she could have ever done, then the next she is regretting it, that's the hormone thing I'm sure. My husband and I were trying to make love @ the six week after EB and it really did hurt and started the cramping all over again, never had that happen before. Now when I am not cramping, it is really nice. Did you have that problem? Let me know what happens please and thank you. I hope all goes well for you too.

Hi Cyndi, sounds like you have the same as me. Trapped fluid in your fallopian tubes, as you mention you have also been sterilized like me. Mine started 3 months after the Ablation. Might be worth mentioning it to your doctor and asking for an internal scan. The nurse talked me through what was wrong as she was moving the camera around. For some reason Doctors try to dismiss that having an Ablation can cause problems after. When you Google it, there are loads of women with the same symptoms as us.
Stand your ground and push for the internal camera/scan. Good luck - let me know how you get on.
Hope all goes well w/u.. I had the surgery done to and I still get my periods but not as long and not as heavy thank god.. I do cramp for like 7 or 8 days before I get my periods.. Hope I do not need a hysterectomy soon.. I am 50 years old and had my only child at 44 1/2 years old and I am feeling good but the ablation surgery failed on me???? All my friends that had the procedure never, ever got their periods back... Figures I would..
Hi Lucy, I could not stand the pain any longer, five days in a row. I called my OBgyn this morning and she told me to come in ASAP. She did an ultrasound and found a 4cm cyst on my left ovary. As I was telling her about this pain that I could not take anymore I started crying and told her just to take it all out, I am so over this c**p. She said that my scan in May did not show the cyst. She said that she wants me back in three weeks to see it is has changed. I took the some pain killers and it knocked the edge off. I finally got some rest. I will let you know whats happens in the next three weeks.
Wondering if you received a response about your issue? I had 2 C-Sections my last one in 2007. In 2009 I had the Nova-Sure ablation done due to extremely heavy bleeding. The procedure worked for a little over 2 hrs (I did not have a period at all in this time). I started having severe cramping that was cyclic but no bleeding. After several doctor visits I began to think I had lost my mind! I went to the ER and they noticed "something" in my uterus. I was sent back to my Gyn who said it must be trapped blood. She referred me to another Gyn who specializes in menstrual disorders. He advised I was not a candidate for Nova Sure due to my age 34 at the time. He then did a EMR procedure, this is when you manually remove the lining of the uterus. He advised this will only buy me some time because I would most likely need a hysterectomy however at 37 he didn't want to do this yet. Now 2 years later my pain is back and worse then ever!!! It's not
cyclic it is constant! The blood is trapped again and my uterus is contracting to expel the blood. Pain medication does not help me at all! Hysterectomy is scheduled for 3 weeks from today! I wish the doctors would think twice about doing ablations!!!! Sometimes it's best to leave things alone or go on birth control to help with the menstrual issues.
I hope you're doing better. This has consumed my life and I want every woman to know what could happen from having an ablation!
Hi, I am actually lying in bed now recovering from my Abdominal hysterectomy. Had to reschedule it from 31st Oct to 12th Dec as my mom broke both her wrists.
I came home after 3 days in hospital. Have stayed in bed apart from trips to the toilet and shower. I do have a little walk around the house to keep the blood flowing.
I had no "pain" after the op, just a heavy uncomfortable feeling. I was on a morphine drip but that made me sick, so came off that and had paracetamol and voltorol.
When you go to the toilet for the first few days, you will feel discomfort as your bladder empties (like pressure release in your lower abdomon) and you will get wind as well. When you walk it is like you have a lead weight in your abdomen. This feeling eases every day. I am telling you this because if you know what to expect it makes it a little easier.
You will feel physically tired, having a shower wears me out!!
They do stress at hospital that rest is so important. Believe me for the first few days you will not be doing anything and you will think "what have I done" but that passes when you realise that the pain you had before the op has gone.
Most importantly do not try to be Superwoman, rest, rest, rest and let everything mend.

My God I though something was wrong with me! I have such bad premenstrual cramping and cramping when I should be having a 'period'. I go through two bottles of midol a month just to take the edge off. I sometimes can't function. As a mater of fact, I'm siting her at work rocking back and forth typing this. There has to be a solution.
I'm having the same issues. My cramping and pain has progressively gotten worse and it's become debilitating. I had my ablation around 5 years ago, and at first I was okay, cramping was manageable, but I can't take this anymore... I'm 44, hate to have a hysterectomy this young, but this sucks!
I'm in pain too as I write this. It's ridiculous how bad it is. I wish I never had the ablation done... this is truly horrible.
Well I'm glad I'm not alone.... after reading all your comments I feel a little better..... I had the ablation in 2012. I've recently started cramping so severe I feel like death..... I have had 3 children all natural and it feels real close to labor pains.. I have appt in 2 weeks to see my obgyn...... I'm probably just gonna get the hysterectomy she suggested first....
