I am the same exact way. I have struggled with this too. I notice my symptoms aren't as severe once I avoided dairy, gluten, and even meat. My mom also had endometriosis, and some people say that these enhanced, harsh symptoms---dizziness, cold sweats, nausea (throwing up even), diahrrea/constantly in bathroom, pain in abdomen---could be linked to this. Resorting to a plant-based diet---a diet rich in calcium, magnesium, and other phytochemicals and minerals are key. Exercising has also helped with menstrual cycle symptoms. Also, try adding hormone-regulator plant-based powders like "maca" into smoothies. But, getting hormones tested is something I suggest to do first.

I'm 36 now, and have had exactly the same issues since I was 12 and first got my period. I used to miss school once per month. My doctor couldnt figure it out so just kept increasing my painkiller dose. be careful with anti inflamitory drugs (advil etc). taking more than the recommended dose over a long period of time ravaged my stomache so that for years i would also suffer emergency room grade heartburn. I knew that it all couldn't continue in university so went on the pill. That made the cramps manageable but The heartburn lasted well into my 30s. In my late 20s i tried to get pregnant but couldnt. I moved to a new city, new dr, and have recently been diagnosed as slightly hypothyroid and am now wondering if that has been my problem all along. I will continue my research and keep you posted.

Few years back one of my family doctor suggested to have meftal spas tablet whenever the pain starts And it really works. It takes 20 mins. To get dissolved and get u relieved.

My pain usually start in the early morning at around 3 or 4 am. the pain goes extreme within few seconds which is unbearable. Few years back my family doctor suggested to take MEFTAL SPAS tablet whenever the pain starts. And I have been taking it from the last 10 years. It really work and it take around 15 to 20 mins. to get dissoved in your body and to get you relieved. I found it effective so thought to share it. And i hope it works for everyone who is suffering the same pain.

Http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8935744 I have this too. O Since changing my diet, exercising more it has gotten a little less sometimes worse than others. One time i was doing a cleanse eating only smooth foods and then cucumber and watermelon juice for my kidneys and then a day of no food. I got my period and for the first time i had only a tiny amount of cramping but very mild and my blood was light and only lasted three days!!!! Wowow i wish my periods were regular so i could know when to fast!!! Maybe that could be a basis for more research . Mmmm . Love you sister! I hope we all find something that works for us. One positive aspect of this is that it only last a day or two and it does humble me. I know its painful but it will go away. I could have a bullet wound or leg ripped of orsomething. I am more in touch with pain and my physical body and appreciate my health more. If i meditate it also helps me if i just focus on my breath and not the pain ( THIS IS HARD) and lay on my bed with relaxing music and try to go to sleep and say in my head " i am grateful to be alive, i am a wonderful person, i love myself, i am healing myself, i am cared for, i am kind"etc, whatever i can think of and it relaxes me into sleep. Once i awake i usually feel better. much love and light sister!!!!!

I meant to say my change in diet did lesson the amount of times id have a really painful period. One period would be very painful and another time not. I feel it must be something in my diet or environment. I Haven't figured out what it is yet. I stopped eating soy and try to stay away from gluten products. I only eat meat and dairy if organic from local farmers sparingly. I also drink more water, stay away from chemicals. Ill post if i figure it out. Its got to be some allergy or deficiency... Mmm

My dr put me on BC pills but made it worse. I had ever been on pills and my husband us fixed but it was more to regulate and help with my cramps. I was on them or only 6 weeks and my body was so out of wacky that she took me off them. Per my request. I'm now on Toradol or pain.

Im 30 years old and have been having these bad cramps since I started my period for the first time. The only thing is that I get extremely weak at the same time if it starts hurting bad enough. But after I was put on the depo shot I stopped having my period for nearly a year. When I came off the shot every period I had after that never hurt again. Well until I got pregnant with my youngest child. After that both of my tubes were clipped and now I have more severe cramps then I have ever had before. But because I have already had a tubal it is hard to find anyone who will give me birth control pills for anything. So can anyone give me any suggestions.

Its kind of tough medicine but if you can stand it- take a bite of the hottest pepper you can find and chew it up. I have nightmarish cramps the first day of my period too. In desperation, one time when I had nothing to take for the pain, I thought of the endorphins released by your brain when you eat really spicy food. Much to my suprise, when my mouth quit burning and I was able to quit stomping my foot and gasping for air- the cramps were gone and did not come back. More effective then tylenol or ibuprofen.

You cannot "fix" endometriosis not even through surgery. I've had it for over a decade and have 3 surgeries so far.

My period always comes on the 26th day of the cycle. The first day is absolute hell. I can't move without throwing up. I throw up anywhere from 5 to 20 times. I have passed out from the pain several times. I am not allow to take any pain killers due to an artery disease I have. I am also not allowed to take any form of birth control because of the same disease. I have cramps from my boobs to my knees. I can't relax. Heating pads make me instanty throw up and so does any massage or activity. My only solution right now is to take slepping pills or narcotics from a surgery i had to make me sleep because i that is the only way i feel any better. I lose anywhere from 3 to 5 pounds each cycle because I can't eat for the first two days. I don't know what to do. I have tried all sorts of natural remedies because that is all I can take and nothing works. I am so done with this, I really can't take it anymore. I am tired of it getting in the way of my daily life. Does anyone have any advice?

I just went through and read every comment, I can't believe how many people are in the same boat as me! I have had the ambulance called on me twice when I have started my period at work and at the gym, both times I passed out and woke up with an oxygen mask on. Both times I was very, very stressed (being yelled at at work and in a long cycling class). From experience I can say that stress makes everything way, way worse. I have tried to force myself to get up and go to work, and that never turns out well. Now I just inform my bosses of my medical condition and let them know if I'm supposed to start on a work day (my periods aren't super regular, but usually start within 1-2 days that I expect it to. I have had symptoms of a horrible period since I was 15, 10 years now. At first, I thought I was having panic attacks then the cramping got worse and bleeding to heavy and I realized when I was around 17 that it was linked to my cycle. I have gone to many doctors and obgyns concerning this issue and everyone tells me the same thing: to go on birth control. I NEVER will go on birth control. I went on it when I was 16 for about a month and felt horrible, after researching it, I realize it is HORRIBLE for you and makes everything worse in the long run. LADIES DO NOT TAKE THE BIRTH CONTROL PILL! Conduct your own research. Doctors prescribe it because it is easier than treating your Dysmenorrhea or Endometriosis, which is what you really have! I have had acupuncture (doesn't help), taken Chinese herbal medicine (doesn't help), stopped drinking caffeine and alcohol (doesn't help), exercised like crazy before my period (doesn't help), done yoga poses to help with cramps (doesn't help), taken many herbal remedies for hormone imbalance (doesn't help). I have also had my hormone levels all tested, and there are absolutely no imbalances (not even my thyroid!!). The ONLY THINGS THAT HAVE HELPED ME: some strong pain meds (which no dr. will prescribe me even though I only need 1 per month!), a heating pad (slightly eases the pain but maybe its all in my head), and my husband gives me a foot massage and uses pressure points technique for painful periods (video can be found on youtube). Also, avoid anything acidic (like pasta) the day before your supposed to start your period, it makes me throw up during my first day. Other things that help me are petting my cat and dog, and distractions like your favorite tv show or movie. Last but not least I want whoever is reading this to know that taking Tylenol, Advil, Ibuprofen, Aleve, etc. regularly (like when the dr. tells you to take it starting the 2-3 days leading up to your period) can cause BIG problems in the future and to try really hard not to take too many of these kinds of medications. Please reply to my comment if you wish to chat more about this topic, I would love to hear from other ladies about the things that helps them!
