Mine is feet only. First started with hot shower water. then progressed to waking me up from sleep. Or feet get warm. Found relief for 2 to 3 hours by soaking feet in cool water 2 to 3 min. My yearly sinus condition was starting (early symptoms). I can tell, I get nervous like. The itch seems to be brought to noticeable by the anti-histamine reaction.

Then I had a heart attack. This HA had its own cause. However within days the foot itch returned with a vengeance. The dr. said that the Cholestero reducing medication was inflaming it. Stopped that and within 4 days it has gone away.

Wow, so glad to see that I'm not alone in this itching situation! My feet itched so bad last night that it felt like I was getting bit up by hundreds of fire ants. I tried foot powder, lotion and even anti-fungal ointment to no avail. I finally soaked a hand towel in cold water and laid it on my feet. After pressing it down w/the other foot for a brief time, the itching finally subsided so I could get some sleep.

Unlike some of you, my itching doesn't happen just at night but it's soooooooo frustrating! If anyone comes up with an answer as to what this could be, I'd be a happy camper!

I had posted this a few weeks ago."Mine is feet only. First started with hot shower water. then progressed to waking me up from sleep. Or feet get warm. It has returned again. I will check to see if it is the chochlat icecream with nuts that I eat some evenings.

antihistamine a prescription could help reduce the itching. I had reallly itchy hands and feet as well, but my itch has seemed to slowly diminish; nevertheless I went to a dermatologist and she said that the itchness is worse at night because the body relases something called histamine which would cause an itch and antihistamine could help reduce the annoyance of an itch. She also said the itch is probably an allergic reaction and my hands and feet are no longer itchy because whatever entered my system has left. Hope this helps.

I'm experiencing this too. No change in diet at all. The only new thing is I used Febreeze and Pine Sol today. %-)

I get the itchy feet syndrome in bouts that last sometimes a day to sometimes weeks or more. My feet get super itchy, almost symetrically in both feet at once. The itch will start in the heel, to the ankle, the inside arch up to my toes. No outward symptoms such as rash, cracked or dried skin. The itching seems it can go as fast as it comes. While I'm itching, it seems my feet sweat a bit, and if I scratch a lot, small bumps form. The only way I've found to get the itch to go away is by scalding my feet with hot water. I've seen my allergist, and general Dr. and ended up with prescriptions for prednisone that don't seem to work. I've tried all kinds of powders, lotions, and foot baths to no avail. If anybody finds anything that really helps or some sort of professional diagnosis, please share.

HI, I'm a 45 yr. old mom of two and I started having severe itching in my feet about 10 years ago. I have tried just about everything and finally have found that cutting out everything with soy in it has worked. This has not been easy as soy is in just about everything but I can tell within 3-8 hours when I have accidently eaten some. It takes a bit to get it out of your system but getting that itching to stop makes it worth it! Hope this might help somebody else, I know it's extreme but it's definately helped me!

I really try to eliminate sugar and white flour from my diet during the winter because that's when my symptoms get really bad.

Insides are supposed to be alkaline, healthy skin is a bit acidic. Google skin and ph, and diet and ph for more information. Anyway...Sugar is fairly acidic and my skin apparently gets too alkaline and that's why the sugar works for me ( I think!?). I'm not a doctor. I do not actually KNOW why it works, but what the heck...sugar is cheap. Give it a try. What have you got to loose?

I can't PROMISE this will help, but it works for me. Sugar on the OUTSIDE of my body is therapeutic! I Put a couple Tablespoons of table sugar in about 1/4 - 1/2 cup warm water, swish it around and pour it over the itchy ankles, feet, etc. Let it dry. Brush off the granules because they feel like sand in the bed sheets.

I've used the sugar solution on my scalp, between my boobs, behind my knees...anywhere and everywhere I get itchy. I use the sugar in the palm of my hand as a sugar scrub on my legs and face and it feels wonderful. It even stops the pain (temporarily) from chapped lips. Problem is...it's too easy to lick them again.

Good luck!

Virgin Coconut oil is also very good as a moisturizer, but if the itch is severe, I have to do the sugar rinse first.

Oh Boy! I am not encouraged...two days ago I woke up with bright red palms. When I washed my hands, they began to itch (Palms) so bad I thought I would scratch them raw. Shortly after, I noticed hive like bumps in various places on my body. The worse were down the inside of my thighs. During the day, the soles of my feet began to itch and the hives were worse, including on my head. I have not done or eaten anything different that I can think of. No new soap or fabric softener. When I read some of your posts and hear two years and more .....I think I will go insane if this lasts that long. While my feet have itched at night once, the itch is definitely worse during the day for me. Thank GOD, I sleep well at night. I hesitate to go to the doctor because I don't think there is much he can do for me.

I was interest in the post about the honey roasted cashews because I did recently eat honey roasted peanuts and made some peanut butter fudge. I am generally not a peanut eater so this could possibly be the cause however, everything I have read about hives says they usually fade after 24 hours and the more you rub or scratch them, the more they will continue to appear.

My sympathies to those of you who have been suffering with this problem for years.

:-D My itchiness is gone. In less than 24 hours it was bearable; but it took a little less than one week of sugar scrubs and coconut oil (and limiting flour, sugar and processed foods), before all the hives and bumps were totally gone. During this period I remembered that I've used listerine in the past quite successfully, so I started spritzing listerine on my itchy areas at the first bit of itch throughout the day while using the sugar scrubs when I showered or bathed. I monitored my ph during and following this week and my saliva is about 6.5 now (no itching). It was 4.5 - 5.5 when the itching was bad. Good luck.

Oops. To assist my insides to become more alkaline, I drink lemon or lime juice in a glass of water, increasing my water consumption a bit. I always try to drink 1 ounce for every pound of body weight, anyway; but if I'm having ANY health issues, I try to increase it by an extra 20%. Good luck! It's a suck feeling to suffer through. :-D

I think you are on to something. I rally think it is Systemic. I will have to test my PH.
I can't drink a lot ot citrus because I have GERD and my esophagus doesn't like acid.
Thanks for the suggestions

I've had heartburn occasionally, so I sympathize. Did you know that drinking a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in 2 - 4 ounces of water will stop heartburn within 10-15 minutes? And lemon and lime are acids that turn alkaline inside your body.

I put a little baking soda in a small glass of water with a few drops of lemon or lime juice. You can prove the truth to yourself. Get yourself some litimus strips at a health store and check your ph on arising from bed in the morning (saliva and urine). Track it for a month or so and write down ALL physical symptoms, responses, ailments, etc. If your saliva is acidic, rinse your mouth with a mild lemon water solution, within seconds the litimus strip will go from acidic to alkaline. It's amazing.

Just a personal question. You don't have to answer if you choose not to. I'mm 55. How old are you? I was always healthy as a horse until about 45. The last 10 years...it's been something new every time I turn around. Weight. Hives, rashes, slipped disks, aches and pains. I'm doing pretty good, but I have to WORK at it: diet, exercise, meditation are the best tools.

Can't hide it. I'm 68. I agree with the age thing. I am also taking many more meds than I care to. I never had much wrong although I have had several surgeries (Mostly repairs). I have never had any allergies but am developing. all manner of nonsense now.
I am going to follow your suggestion about the litmus strips because I have been having UTI's and yeast infections as well. I had five pregnancies and never had any of that stuff until the last few years.

UTI's and Yeast infections are definitely diet and ph related. Louise Hay (amazing author) would also say that the UTI's are a symptom of repressed anger (pissed off at someone or something). Been there. Had those. I've had six pregnancies and I have 3 kids. Proverbial barefoot and pregnant wife. Husband cheated on me for years before I figured THAT out. Got rid of him and amazingly enough...UTI's went completely away. Haven't had one in over 16 years! Get a yeast infection nearly every time I have to take antibiotics. In the last few years I've had 3 bouts with antibiotics and 2 yeast infections. This last time I was lucky. I was taking supplements and didn't get one!

Anyway, I had my uterus removed at 30. I'm pretty sure the problems I have now are some what hormonal as well as ph related. It's weird because the symptoms come and go and the itchiness seems to go hand in hand (or follow after a bout of heartburn. I am also getting weird little brown-spot eruptions on my abdomen (like the hyperpigmentation I got when I was pregnant). Don't know how it's all related, but went to a nutritionist lately and he did muscle testing and put me on some supplements. Enzymes and amino acids. Sure feeling better. Even dropped 6 pounds since before Christmas - know that's not a lot, but I usually gain a few pounds over the holidays, so I'm happy with the weight LOSS. Really glad I found this web-site, though. It's a good source of information and sharing. Some days I think doctors are great, other times I don't think they know squat! I'm lucky, other than high cholesterol and rashes and occasional heartburn, I don't have any serious medical issues. I gave up the cholesterol med because it gave me aches and pains beyond description!

I really don't mind the getting older part...wouldn't want to be a child, teenager or pre-30 again for anything, but aging should come with a manual - and I haven't found a good one yet. Just lots of opinions, half of which aren't worth the time to read them...but I do, because I'm not willing to live in a cloud of confusion, doubt and worry.

So...if you figure something out, let me know. I'll do the same. Good luck!
