Hi all, I like everyone else have expirenced this pain. Been to a handful of pros and only one was able to help me out because he too had this. He is a chiropractor and says it has to do with the Linea Alba in the abdominus area being a little over stretched while doing an activity so it responds by tightening up for protection. He says that this pain can be prevented by regular stretching to reduse the tightness and allow more elasticity for activites. Hope this helps you, I is working for me so far.

Nobody has a straight answer for this problem. I am 21 now and I have this happen from time to time. I have felt the same pain from standing up too quickly unaware it was going to hurt. I find that slowly stretching it out helps. Usually I need to urinate shortly after noticing the pain and that always tightens it up again. The tightness does go away after a little while. It seems to me it is caused by slouching. Probably a pinched nerve causing muscles to tighten. I noticed that eating smaller, more frequent, meals helps. You tend to sit up straighter with something in your stomach.

My Man has the same issues. He's had spinal fusion surgery and still has the magnetic pulsing from his lions gate to his mouth and tongue. He wants to die. What can be done??

What exercise is best to release this muscle. My Man has had spinal surgery, titanium bolts and screws so he can't move much. Perhaps water movement would be best. He has this magnetic like pulling from his groin area to his tongue pulsing 24/7. It's making him insane.

My Man has the same excruciating pulsing from his lions gate to tongue . Doctors know nothing. They've done spinal fusion surgery on him and he's now worse off. He's experiencing a living nightmare and has to stop himself from taking his life and others with him everyday. (Marine). I sometimes wonder if he's being targeted.
He's going mad. You're not alone. Seeking alternative answers to solve this.

IT IS YOUR URACHAL REMNANT AND YOU CAN HAVE IT SURGICALLY REMOVED--I DID.

Reading this thread makes me want to cry-----I always thought that I was totally alone with my "pulling belly button."  It started when I was about 8yo and would happen randomly when I twisted or stood up form sitting or reached for something on a high shelf.

For years it seemed that no one had a clue what was wrong wtih me---so many doc visits and tests (barium enema, cystoscopy, IVP kidney xray, ultruasound, upper gi workup).  All along I knew it wasn't gas, intestinal, gynocological.  I kept telling the docs that it felt like my belly button was pulliing my bladder and that it was superficial (felt very close to the surface, like it was in the abdominal wall).  The pain was absolutely excrutiating---I've also had 3 knee surgeries and approximately 30 kneecap dislocations---all of this is minor in comparison to the bellybutton pull.

Finally, when I was 20, I found an open minded urologist who told me that it sounded like my urachus was the problem.  When he described the ligament/remant, I was beside myself with emotion---it was exactly what I had been telling people for all these years---the urachus is essentially a "string" that connects the bellybutton and bladder.  The urologist consulted with general surgeon and it was decided that I have my urachus removed.  In June of 1997, I underwent laporoscopic surgery to remove it. IT WORKED.

I still have an extremely sensitive bellybutton and from time to time get twinges and sensations of pain, but nothing like it used to be. I am now 38 and have had two children.

Please find a urologist that will listen to your symptoms.  The pain is real, its excrutiating, its not in your head.

I'm sitting here googling the same kind of thing ..

here is my 2 cents..

First of all .. this happen on and off .. I'm pretty used to it. And your issues (the ripping pain and thinking its tightening of muscles .. just inside and perhaps a bit below the bellow button) .. are similar to mine. People also told me hernea .. but its not always hurting.. And sometimes it hurts to stretch or stand up straight , but only during that time when its deciding to hurt .. Other times I can do whatever I want with my body and it doesnt seem to act up ..

At the moment I'm hurting in the same general area but with a path leading down to pretty much the tip of my .. "dong" .. its all burning from the pain where the belly button thing hurts .. all the way to where I pee.. And your story states that your pain goes along with when you pee .. So I'm thinking maybe my "solution" will help...

I think I often dehydrate myself (most people do , statistically) and as soon as I feel this burning when I pee , I rush to drink a huge HUGE glass of water. I know that if I try and keep peeing when this pain happens , it really intensifies .. so when it starts to hurt , just try to stop peeing .. deal with the pain and take your mind off of it while you drink a HUGE glass of water .. by the time you have to pee , if you've drank enough , you should clear the pain right out with all the water.. at least thats what happens to me ..

I just drank my water and the pain has mostly subsided .. but I'm going to wait till I have to be A LOT .. not just when I think I can finally pee .. I'm going to wait till I'm ready to pee out this whole glass. . And thats kind of important if you're going to give this a shot.

Good luck!

PS: More on the belly button thing .. I feel it kind of happens pretty randomly .. not from stretching in any kind of way .. I could be sitting relaxing , and when I stand up , BAM .. ripping feeling and intense burning for like an hour.. Rubbing it gently helps maybe.. but just relaxing and staying kind of hunched over helps.. I slowly sloooowly stretch to a full stretch.. like. . think back bends .. but I dont usually stretch back that far .. just a little past standing straight up.. but I do it sloowly. Doing it fast can bring back or intensify the burning again all over.

This has been happening to me on and off for YEARS. Went to the doctor the last time it happened (almost 2 years ago) they ran blood tests and urinary tests (pee in a cup when it kills you to pee...thanks). They wanted to do an ultrasound but that involved drinking an entire pitcher of water and everything's always gone straight through me liquid wise, so i stopped them there so I wouldnt have to pee anymore. This just started happening again tonight and it's the worst it's ever been, to the point where shifting in my chair just caused me intense pain. I'm 21 now and this has been happening since I was maybe five...always long stretches without. If anyone has a solution i need to know. this is awful. Even tho it happens so infrequently it ruins so much of daily activities for me because I never know when it will flare up.
