Sounds a lot like MS.
I have MS and all of your symptoms say MS.
Most DR'S dismiss MS and it took me 6 months to find a DR who did a spinal and confirmed MS.
There are many treatments available for MS so dont wait to long to be checked out.

I also suffer from numbness in my face, around my eyes, tongue, throat, and left arm. It is always present in my face. Sometimes my left shoulder blade goes numb. I have been tested for everything you can think of by blood test, and it always comes back normal. I also had an MRI which is also normal. I am a woman of strong faith and am not paranoid or suffering from panic attacks. My ips began to go numb occasionaly 6 months ago. After about two months of that it was permanently andstarted moving to my gums side of face ect. I am going to see a chiropractor and then if that doesn't work. I will find a better neurologist and will get a spinal tap. Modern medicine has come to far to not be able to figure this out. Also I quit using any and all artificial sweetners, due to research I found about ms and aspartame.Hang in there we will all be diagnosed soon. Try a high protein diet and regular exercise. I like to exercise but found that I don't have the muscle strength that I did less than a year ago. So please don't overdo it but do take better care of yourselves. :-)

I have also had much of the same issues. For almost 2 years I have been dealing with this. I get numbness in my left arm and hand (usually my pinky and ringfinger seem to be colder than the rest of my hand) and slight tingling as well. Also, slight numbness in my lips and around my left ear. On occasion, I also feel a little bit of pain in the upper part of the left side of my head. I have wondered if I have nerve damage in the neck or left shoulder that is causing this, but as of yet, MRI, and CT have shown nothing. I had a spill on a scooter about 2 years before this began, and I think landing on that side may be partly to blame. I screwed up my left shoulder pretty bad. But these symptoms didn't start till 2 years later. The first couple times it happened, I went to the emergency room, and they said, nothing was wrong, and then said it was anxiety attack, but it happens when I least expect it, and when I am not hyper or any cause for anxiety. From what I can tell with what is happening, it seems a lot like some sort of nerve problem, even if unrelated to the wreck. Perhaps one of the disorders, or degeneration of spine, mentioned here by others. My father suffers from degeneration of the spine, so maybe it could be something genetic? Also, sometimes my chest has slight to moderate pain on left side, which can last for days or weeks, or merely an hour. None of the protein markers for a heart attack have been found in my blood however. If anyone has any answers, please share! :-)
Thanks, and Be Good.

My husband is having the same symptoms and I took him to the ER last night. He is a smoker and they thought is was a blood clot in the lung, but the CT did not show one, even though he did not pass the clot test. We are going to check other places to see if there is a blood clot somewhere else. We have had a Nuclear stress test, Heart-cath and etc. done on his heart and it is not heart related. He has also had an Upper GI done and found some erosion in his esophogus and stomach and it could be flairing up again, but who knows. He is a 30 year old man with no other health problems. I myself have fibromyalgia and do not have similar pain. We are just going to keep checking and see if we can find a cause for the mysterious pain. I hope everyone else finds out and can ease the pain.

One possibility no one has mentioned is Lyme Disease. I got LD while on vacation in the 1980's, and experienced numbness and a number of other nerve symptoms in the following years. Because I live in an area where Lyme is not known to occur, not one of the local doctors thought to check. When I finally asked for the Lyme tests, they came back heavily positive. I had never had a rash or the early flu-like symptoms.

I feel the same things. went to an ENT and neurologist. Still awaiting results from MRI but the ENT thinks it may be sleep apnea even though i dont think so. Ive had these discomforts for almost 2 years and gone to different doctors and all I ever gett is antibiotics. At least now Im hearing something new.

I have been suffering from this debilitating problem for around 4 years now. Here is how it all started:

I had done something foolish that I regret to this day, I had just taken a shower and afterwards I had a sensation that my left ear was blocked, so I decided to do the valsalva maneuver, the bad thing is, that I did it very very strong and for a long time and then, boom I feel something pop in the right side of my throat and neck and then a pain (numbness) over my right eye and along the right side of my face.

Now everyday is a struggle for me and this is what I go through and my symptoms:

Everything starts in the back right side of my tongue, when I flex and move that part, there is clicking and grinding in the right side of my neck and throat, every time I swallow, there is a clicking.

Now the problem is when I swallow food, as I am swallowing, in that area (in the back right side of my tongue) some mechanism in that part of my throat seems to be displaced and gets caught and the clicking and grinding is worsened, and then these symptoms occur:

My throat gets very dry, feels like something is caught in my throat, I get horrible breath, the hole right side of my neck and throat feels abnormal, like something is interfering with everything, I get numbness on the right side of my face over my right eye and my right cheek bone, back of my neck gets sore, but that’s not the worst of it. Here are my neurological symptoms this is what is bothering me the most:

Dizziness, nausea, headache, I cannot concentrate, I feel although my brain is being tampered with or something is squeezing on my carotid artery. I feel so extreme tension in the right side of my neck and my head.

Now all of this is intermittent, I feel these symptoms mostly after eating, after moving around a lot, like when I play sports, if I turn my neck, I hardly ever turn my neck, The symptoms last several hours to several days, now over the years I have discovered ways to alleviate the symptoms, here is the way that works a lot of the time: I drink a lot of water, then I make myself through it up, this seems to release whatever is caught and then the symptoms are temporarely alleviated but this doesn’t always work. or I cough really hard, make myself sneeze, flex my neck a lot, I know right away when the symptoms are alleviated. It is such a comfortable feeling.

These are the test that I have done:
-CT of the neck
-MRI Brain
-X-Ray of sinuses
-Barium swallow
-mri of the neck
everything is negative

Wow its great to see other people are experiencing some of the same things as myself...
Since just after the new year i have been getting all sorts of odd aches pains and feelings in the right side of my body
Symptoms are:
Facial pain/numbness not completly numb, i can still feel and move my face.
Pain in my eye as if someone is sticking a pin in it
A pain below my right ear, as if it is in my gland although it doesn't feel swollen and it gives me an awful earache and feels like my ear is blocked but it isn't
Pain from my neck down my arm into my hand seems to focus on my joints
Pain from my hip into my leg and foot, mainly focuses on my knee, ankle and toes

I have seen a neurologist who carried out some tests and couldn't find any problems but sent me for an MRI anyway, which was completely normal
I have seen my GP countless times and each time get fobbed off with different painkillers which never work. Due to go again on friday and i am really going to stress to him something really needs to be looked into...i just feel becuase something isn't jumping out at them as obvious then they just look for the easy road out e.g giving painkillers and hope i'll go away.

Sometimes it comes on in waves like i have a few days of pain then i will be ok for a few days or weeks, only with slight aches. I always feel a bit odd down that side though....like i am more aware of my right side than my left.

I am 22 and otherwise good health (as far as i know anyway)

Interesting that this is common. The past 8 months have been very scary... I have been tested for ms. Blood work and catscan..MRI show all is great!

The Neroligest (spelled incorrect) told me on his way out the door that if this is not MS then you'll just have to live this way for the rest of your life... I was speechless??

The numbess.. is like a heavy weight weight .... on my left of my face and some on the right.

My left side of neck, shoulder, arm, back, thigh, three of the small toes. all numb..for the last 8 months..

My tongue sometimes feels thick and my speech is off.
Sometimes I am off balance and have to think before ..I move..as try to go left ..but my body goes right.

I do not really get any pain...just the numbness... I do have some tingling on the left side of my head.

I am scared...but what can you do but wait... I do what I need to do and do not dewell on what this is... I look up and try to read what they (doctors) are looking for so I understand.
I still work full-time and have fun with my family and enjoy gardening.. my life has not stopped... I just wonder what is going on and how do I take care of this and found out what it is... what steps should be next... and how do I trust that the doctors are doing what is best for me ?

_[removed]_ if any ideas... i can use any help..thanks

I am researching this because I had been taking aderol (as a remedy for my sudden diagnosis of ADD) for a couple of weeks and had sudden, then persistent, and eventually progression of numbness in my toes then through my feet. My Dr. said he doesn't see how it's related to the meds and so changed from Aderol to Ritalin. I am thinking maybe MS is a possibility for me as well because I use to get numbness in my left shoulder blade as well. If anyone has any other suggestions or relation please let me know. Thank you!

Hey Everyone,

I just found this forum and read up some and I'm actually glad I did! I have the very same symptoms as all of you. I'm a male and 25 yrs old, I have been very active my entire life (Martial Arts, Football, etc.). but last yr around May, I was sitting at my computer when I had a very sharp pain go all the way across my chest to my left shoulder and wrist/hand. I freaked out and my wife took my to the ER... the doctors did a CT and MRI along with a EKG just to rule out Heart problems. After 9 hrs, both doctors came back and said I had a classic, but severe panic attack and to get some rest (what?!?). Well, I blew it off and tried to go about my usual routines, but around 3 months later, I was at work and had an Extreme pain in my abdominal region which I have never felt in my life! I passed out and was rushed to the ER... this time... IBS! I started worrying about my health and tried everything I could to change my diet and increase my excersize (I normally ran 5 miles a day, 50 push-ups, 40 crunch-up, etc.) but, after the initial attack in my Abdominal area, there was always these weird, sharp pains that went across my lower groin and abdominal areas that would send me to my knees! I dealt with that for another 4 months, but it seemed to go away, so I thought I was ok. Then the worst happened... I work in the retail field and it was near christmas rush, so I doubled my work hrs as I am a manager, just to keep things afloat... but I had a near death attack one day when I was helping one of my employees with stocking up some items (I was on a 15 foot ladder and was reaching for items that she was handing to me) when every wall in the store all closed in on me at once, the floor, lights, everything was like 5 inches from my face, and then I blacked out... Thank God that there was a customer there to catch me when I fell off the ladder! I was rushed to the ER and was again, diagnosed with "Near Syncope" which the blood pressure can fall or raise without warning (the Doctors were baffled, since I can hear them outside of the ER room, stating they have never dealt with anything like this before). I was given some type of meds, but started to worry about them, since the side-effects were worse then what I had going on. Everything seemed allitle better after Christmas, and I was overjoyed when the arrival of our first born came in January, so all my pains and aches totally disappered! Then March of this yr, I was helping one of my friends with loading some video gaming equipment in his trailer (I'm part of a Professional Gaming Team as well) when I lost all feeling in my Neck, Left Arm, and my little finger and ring fingers, I just sat down, thinking I might have overthrown my shoulder... then I wake up again in the ER, but a Nurse, not a doctor, came in and told me I had a viral infection and I needed rest... I was so sick of Hospitals at this point, I didn't argue with her and just left. Now, I am having very weird headaches that last not even a second, that completely locks me down (kinda like having a stroke, where I can't talk, move, or even blink). then everything's back to normal, but I also have all the other symptoms that I started out with. I tried to go to UAMS (one of the best hospitals in the Southeast) but they were packed in the ER and I also overheard of of the nurses' say that this was the worst outbreak she's ever seen, so when I asked her what was going on, she told me that nearly 97% of everyone in the ER was having either severe panic attacks, or they felt numbness all over their bodies. I left to go to another hospital to see if I could get in, but the exact same thing was happening there as well! I am now extremely worried about what is going on, because of all the ER overflow of people with the same exact pains and symptoms that everyone has here, and also, if you google or yahoo search for the symptoms that we have, you'll see over nearly 1-2 million other forums, support groups, or chats that people are crying out for help for this, since their doctors have all told them the same things... we don't know, go home... I am really starting to think this isn't a Natural cause of Nerve Damage/nerve disruption... seeing as this is now widespread across the entire country!

BTW, I have had all the tests down on me, even the scary LP (Spinal Tap) and all tests came back either normal or negitive! I also do not not drink or smoke!

God bless us all, hopefully we'll get better!

I have the same symptoms also. It all started last december 2007.
I have a pain on both of my sides. People told me it might be something so I tried having a gall bladder and kidney cleanse. I went to an internest to have a piece of mind. The internest ordered me to have a CBC and creatinine test and a full abdominal ultrasound. It came back negative and slight crystals on my gallbladder and kidney. So he said I might have some problems with my stomach so he wants me to have a endoscopy and gave me some Proton pump inhibitors for a month. I went back to my daily routines and my life. I always have the pain though not worrying what it is. I work 8 hours a day facing on the computer and at night I do a lot of video gaming to free up my mind. sleep at 2 am and wake up at 7am most of the time. Suddenly on May of this year i notice pain on my buttocks while sitting. I thought it might be cause by prolonged sitting so I tried to stand and stretch from time to time. The symptom worsen and now I have pain radiating down my legs and toes.
I also feel like a lymph node is enlarged near my groin area. Go to our company doctor and he said it was a lymph node. Have a second opinion and she also confirmed it was a lymph node. I also feel like my throat is hurting. I have taken Ciprofloxacin for 2 weeks and seems not working. I was worried what causes this. I have a urinalysis and Chest X-Ray. Chest X-ray is negative and Urinalysis seems not ok some sort of blood in the urine. I panic pack my bag and go to some specialist in my hometown. I go to a Urologist and have me check. He found out that I have varicocele. Ordered some Lower abdomen ultrasound. Ultrasound came back negative. He gives me some painkillers to ease the pain and give me tips to take Vitamin 1,6,12 for the tingling and pain on my legs. I take some bed rest at home while limiting my diet to healthy foods. take some multivitamins also. After a few days in bed i feel like some lumps on the back of my neck. I also feel like a lump at the end of my right eye brow. I got to a physical therapist to ease my body pain. ENT for my throat which is still sore. ENT doctor gives me Co-amoxiclav for my pharyngitis as he stated some prednisone for autoimmune disease. He said to continue to take this for 14 days cause pharyngitis takes time to heal. I get back to work. After a week I have a horrible external pain on my stomach and chest. Like i have a muscle cramps all over. When i touch the areas of my stomach and chest lining it feels sore. I went to our company doctor and have some CBC. WBC seems high. I went to my hometown again and have some Hematologist-Oncologist check me. He ordered CBC and full abdominal Ultrasound. Both came negative. And he said that he can barely feel my lymphnodes so i was sent home. Now I am still at work and my body is really hurting a lot. I have severe pain on the right side of my neck and the back of my neck. It hurts when I touch like the nerves is swollen. My shoulder blade hurts too. My buttocks hurts when I sit. Pain shooting to my head. I take some pain relievers when I feel intense pain. I do heat-therapy every night to ease the pain. Have epsom salt baths every day. I have a new doctor today giving me chiropractic therapy. He said i have a computer addiction which causes this. I might have carpel tunnel also. Hope that i would get better with my new doctor.

jab1995-

Read up on Fibromyalgia and symptoms.
Though I have other issues due to a neck surgery I was also diagnosed with Fibromyalgia by a reumotologist. I swear at times my entire body hurts! and if someone touches certain spots (called tender points) I literally jump it hurts so bad!
Some people, including doctors, state that Fibromyalgia is a "made up" diagnosis for an underlying problem. That could be the case but after thousands of dollars spent on tests and surgeries without any diagnosis or pain relief it's nice to at least have a name put to my pain.
Best of luck to you.

Hi Guys,

I get this and have been since January- i've been referred by doctors for blood test etc, they say it's down to anxiety and stress, I also have panic attacks because of this and feel like i'm going to die but docotrs honestly think it's nothing to worry about- it's just 1 a panic attack or two anxiety.
But if you're still worried i;dsee a doctor.

I am a 19 year old male im in very good physical condition im a martial artist and i exercise frequently. I have had this problem for over a year and i have had almost every imagineable test done. I have a throbbing pulse in my left temple and the left side of my face and my left arm and shoulder feel very numb. After exhausting all physical possibilities, i moved on to mental possibilities. I saw a phsychiatrist recently and was diagnosed with major depression and anxiety disorder. I was put on an antidepressant (pristiq) and an antianxiety (lorazepam). I felt almost instant relief and thought it was gone, so when i ran out of medication i didnt refill my perscription. Now its all back and worse than before. I am getting more medication and this time sticking with it. Mental issues very often produce physical symptoms. In my case, depression and anxiety cause extreme physical pain. DONT LET IT GO ON ANYLONGER ITS NO WAY TO LIVE!!!
