Its such a relief to find others like myself out there. Back in February 2008 I came down with a horrible bug that was going around and I did not take much time to recuperate because I was traveling a lot and behind on some things. Soon after I noticed that I was having chest pain, numbness and tingling in my left face, shoulder and arm. Doctor diagnosed with high bp. I'm 31, Female, not overweight and work on a farm. Chest and shoulder pain got so bad I ended up in the emergency room. Normal ekg, blood work normal, and x-ray fine. Told me I had panic attack. Doctor referred me to a psychiatrist who immediately put me on antidepressants. I was not convinced of this so I switched doctors and after 8 months of waiting got to see another doctor. This one had me do a stress test, echo, blood work for thyroid hormones, chest x-ray, and an abdominal ultrasound. I have my next appt on 12/05 and I've been so worried about these results. I keep hoping that no news is good news and if something was seriously wrong then she would have called me in already. If these come back normal then I will request a lymes disease test and a spinal tap. I also suffer from migraines and had an MRI to confirm this in April.....no MS, but I'd feel better if I had the spinal tap to confirm. I had two very stressful days at work and could not sleep last night. I'm having numbness and tingling on left side of body including face and also feel a burning pain across chest and back. I am so frustrated. I have been married for a year now and we are working on a familylanning on starting a family. But not knowing whats wrong with me is killing me and adding to my stress load which I know will cause problems trying to get pregnant.

I had this same symptom and it was fixed easily and quickly by a chiropractor - who adjusted my clavicle. It as "stuck" and pinching a nerve. Chiropractors can often fix these weird pains that regular doctors don't know about - they just seem to be more knowledgeable about the natural causes of these things.

I'll tell you this before I tell you a story - stay calm. I am rooting for you. There is alot that can caseu stuff like that and doctors sometimes suspect things based on what or what little they have come across.

I have read so many posts about people having similar stuff - like me - and having scans some back normal. It could be anything from stress to nerve problems to something potentially serious. Just try to forget about - I know thats hard - until results are in - thats what good freinds told me.

_____

You have described what I have been going through since July 15th of 2008. I have been to many doctors and specialists since and had a few diagnostics such as CT and MRIs performed

- long n short is doctors say I'm healthy, and I suspected it could be due to chronic less obvious sinus problems, and or related hig blood pressue meds and or old neck injuries that have caused some irreperable nerve damage.

One doctor suspected even at a first glance it was some type of peripheral nerve condition. which still isn't ruled out.

I also have one pal that I went to university with going through a very similar thing - which blows my mind.

I should also mention, I have ringing in the ears esp Left and dizziness off + on.

I'm no doctor - but have a Phys Ed degree and some general Athletic Therapy background.

I don't wanna freak ya out - n sometimes reading on the net will drive a person batty :-p. Never pronounce yourself sick unless someone proves it. Breath - relax.

Ask you doctor about taking a baby asprin once a day and why you might dep's on your family and personal history.

BUT Never start taking any meds no matter how smart someone might sound, without talking with a doc first.

Hope to hear from ya. ***EMAIL ADDRESS NOT ALLOWED ON BOARD*** 8)

Wanna compare some notes? I find this is more pronounced after exercise. 8)

I have had very similar issue. I have had pains down my neck and shoulder shooting down my left arm. I am 21yrs old, so fairly young. I went to the Dr, and was told it was an anxiety attack. I went to another Dr. who described it as an inflamed RIB cage. She concluded it was an inflamed RIB cage because my blood pressure was not too high and inflamed RIB cage have similar symptoms to those of a heart attack. I was given iburfen. I took the pills and they did help, i was also told to lay off the gym. However, i noticed that the pains have come back, and have started to doubt that it was an inflamed RIB cage as I have not been to GYM for a while. I do have heart related problems in my family, yet DRs , insist that I am too young for that. Any comments? I also get the lump on my left side of my throat- feels like it's swollen.

Wow... you sound just like ME!

I am 21 years old with the same symptoms. Perfectly healthy as far as anyone else can say. We have a family history of Anxiety disorders, so I have waved it off as that for the longest time. However, I have had anxiety attacks before and this just isn't what it is.

I broke my collarbone/clavicle in March of 08, so I keep thinking maybe I have some type of nerve related damage/issue from the broken bone. The pain is completely on the left side. It ranges from the back of my shoulder blade, down the side of my ribcage, across the front of my shoulder/collar bone, into my neck where I get that "lump" sensation, and sometimes up into the left side of my face causing a tingling sensation.

I think I may experience shortness of breath, but I am unable to distinguish if I am "making" it up in my head or if it's real.

Numbness and loss of sensation on my Left side only: left shoulder, Arm, Hand, Fingers, Side of face, neck. These symptoms are constant 24/7 and I have had them for about 1 month now. Wish I knew what was wrong. Doctors want too much money to tell me

****I have had exactly the same symptoms with no diagnosis. Left lower eye area numb back to ear. intermitent pain in left arm with tingling outside elbow and wrist left side of palm. Also pulsating pain and numbness in clavicle region and left neck front to rear. Iexperience chest pain on the left side from the sternum area up to the shoulder. DR says Costol Condritis. I don't think he is right as it is not tender to the touch and I have not had a cough. I have had: Head MRI, Chest, neck,Head CT, Ekg, Echo, Stress test, nerve conduction studies, Needle EMG's, countless physical exams to include dental exam for rule out of infection in dental area. Blood work. All came back normal. The only Diagnosis I have had is that nothing is wrong. My neuro gave me RX for Neurontin just in case there is a sensory nerve problem. Does not seem to help. MD has given me Klonopin to help with my new found anxiety. (never had any in my life). Helps a lot with the panic the follows the discomfort. However, the discomfort is still there. All my discomfort is limited to my left side. I also experience some numbness, tingling in my L. Leg. Probably sciatica.

I have exhausted my finances paying co-pays and have given up. ER visits have been tempting but I have avoided this far.

I would also love a solution. Been going on for 9 months now.

I have had similar symptoms off and on for 13 years. It all started with the feeling that my arms were asleep. I had a lot of lab work and everything came back normal except my calcium was low. It happened off and on and then last year it stated again but with numbness in my face, especially my lips. I went to a neuro who suspected MS and did an MRI and a ton of lab work. Again, everything was fine. Now, here it is 15 months after my MRI and I'm having the same symptoms on the left side with the addition of pain in my arm. I worry about it but then I begin to think how this has been happening off and on for 13 years and I've had a lot of normal tests. I'm about to go on a 2.5 week vacation and if the symptoms still persist when I return, I will make another appointment. I have a feeling that I will feel better because usually the symptoms subside in a couple of weeks. I just wish they could find a cause so I could keep this from happening. It is so annoying!

I was singing when all of a sudden my left hand and fingers went numb, tingly, with aches. Then my left lower forearm. My left side back of neck and left scapula were hurting as usual--neck & scapula pain for several years now. Felt connected to this numb tingling. Hands have been numb tingly for 9 yrs. But tonite it was extreme in left hand/arm...THEN suddenly my leftside of face/head at left eye area got all tingly. In april I was DX'd with 6th cranial nerve palsey cuz I had double vision and stabbing pains in left eye. Tonight is was all tingly. I got scared. Then it spread to my left nose/sinus area. Then my tongue was tingling and my lips. All on the left side. My left forehead felt like a migraine. I have RSD for 9 years now. It began in my right foot and leg, and can spread. Not sure if this attack tonite was the RSD or what! I have been tested for MS twice 3 yrs ago due to similar MS symptoms and the first MRI (done by ENTDoctor qhen o was dizzy with vertigo) revealed possibility of MS, but the 2nd MRI came out negative. I also have urine retention like some MS patients.

Neurologist this year tested for MS ( when my double vision began) but negative MRI suggested a spinal tap in the near future. Blood tests for Lyme was net. But test did show high level of bad cholesterol, so I try to stay away from fatty foods.

I was scared tonite cuz this attack was all at once on my left side. Wasn't sure to call ambulance, so I called mom and she said to look in mirror to see if left face droopy-- no it wasn't, so no stroke. And lips weren't purple, so no heart attack.
I resorted to Internet and typed in my symptoms and this webpage came up on google.

I really want to know what is happening to all of us.
And is it related to my migraine problem? Or is it connected to my RSD? And I'll tell ya, holding this iPod in my left hand is not helping matters.

Let me add... I was DX'd few yes ago with vertigo due to imbalance in left inner ear (tests revealed). I have ringing in my ears at times also.

My health and nerves are deteriorating.

I would like to add that similar to the above posters, I too, have had dizziness, lightheadeness, and DX'd with vertigo a few years ago. The ENT doctor who ordered the tests was the doc who ordered my first head MRI that revealed possible MS, but as I mentioned before, 2nd MRI follow-up was negative.

I have also experienced left chest pain last several years which seems to go hand in hand with the left scapula pain--like straight thru from my left scapula/back to my left front/chest.

Also on my eye: stabbing, ripping pain in my eyeballs like a needle being jabbed. One doc suggested this may be cephalgia fugax.

Obviously I'm not in good health and my nerves seem to be damaged. But I'd like to know what is causing all these symptoms.

It's good that we can relate with these symptoms and I wish you all good luck and I hope you all get better. I hope they can find out what causing this and cure us.

I had to suffer the same syptomes for almost two years and spent a lot for unnecessary check ups. I did heart ECG, TMT, Echo and all other liver, lung, kidney, stomach and chest tests. Everything looked normal, but finally I had to go to Psychiatrist which he diagnosed that I was suffering stress and depression. He prescribed medecines for six months. Currently I am taking Citaloperam, Volperate Sodium and Imipiramine pills. All those pains and worries have gone now, but to complete the treatment period I have to continue for six months. If I stop before that it is more likely that it will relapse.

Hope it helps you.

I'm not sure at all what's going on, but try getting a full battery of tests from NBI testing. They have a ***edited by moderator*** web addresses not allowed. You can speak directly to one of there physicans. I hope this helps
