The symptoms got so bad for me that my eyes were watering and was getting severe headaches. This began at work, where there is air conditioning on all the time (mold spores?), but also at home without the A/C.
Then I found out that I had breast cancer. I radically changed my diet to a mostly alkaline diet and greatly eliminated foods that cause inflammation; wheat, dairy, sugar. Inflammation is the cause of MOST diseases and illnesses.
I started buying ONLY organic foods and I started juicing and found out that the juice to detoxify the body: 1 beet, 1 cucumber, 1/2 bunch cilantro, 4-5 carrots and a 2" piece of ginger root. That juice recipe, also helps in dissolving gallstones! Yay!! (I had LOTS of them!) As a side bonus, no "car exhaust" smell and the athlete's foot went away!!
As we get older the toxins from foods (metal pesticides sprayed on foods, and GMOs, which are POISON) build up in our bodies. So detoxing your body is ALWAYS a good thing and it's NEVER too late!! The build up of toxins in our bodies causes cancer and a multitude of diseases. Look up GMOs.

This is crazy, I have been smelling the same thing for two days now. It got very strong at work today and felt it would go away once I got home, now it seems it got even stronger at home.
I have been experiencing the same thing for about three years now. One minute nothing. The next it's like there is an exhaust pipe in my face. Could this be from all the sh*t they are spraying in the sky (Chemtrails)?
Wow that sounds like me exactly! I broke my back 10 years ago, L1, L2. L3 exploded called burst fractures. I have some pinched nerves in my back that cause neuropathy. I take lots of drugs (non narcotic) I'm totally confused why I keep smelling the exhaust fumes. I started on Chantix and it seems like a trigger?. My doctor's assistant changed my from Gabapten and the was a horrible experience.
I am going crazy, its to the point now that i was sniffing the tube of bengay just for relief. I had this happen to me the first time about three years ago. I had just quit smoking and started vaping so naturally i was thinking that could be it. So I looked it up but found nothing particular to exhaust fumes specifically, I thought about getting seen by a doctor but it went away and i never bothered. Its been back and gone often since then but it seemed to not last very long, and when i say not very long I mean it was only days or weeks compared to months. Well its back again, I was sitting in my room in the morning yesterday and smelled exhaust, I instantly had the thought that i hoped it was coming through the window and not back again. Well last night I looked at my husband and said do you smell exhaust? His reply was "oh no not again" and he cant smell it but its so real to me that i get light headed and quesy from it. So i figured id look again online and here you all are with the same exact smell thats not there. I just took a multivitamin in response to some of the posts on here, i am getting ready to do the saline and call docs for an appointment. I've had the exact same symptoms...I have been having the overwhelming smell of car exhaust fumes, as if I were standing behind a running car. Also, burning eyes, burning throat and nose, along with hot and cold sweats....these strange things have been happening for about two months...WTH is it?
I've had this strange affliction for about two months as well!...that's a little strange! The smell, as well as the burning throat, nose, and watery eyes is really curious. I've been afraid to tell my Dr...for fear he might think I'm crazy! Lol
My husband spilled joining compound for PVC pipes in the trunk of my car. Kept telling him my car had developed exhaust problems. Finally checked out my trunk and found purple goo. Trunk cleaned, but can't get the smell out of my nose. Been months now of saline rinses, but it's staying right with me. Anybody else work with that stuff and have same issues as I am?
I am having exhaust like smell and I feel like I taste fumes. Started a couple months ago and then was gone...now it is back and no matter where I am I smell and taste it, like diesel. I ask everyone around me and no one else smells it. Someone told me it means stroke, but I don't think so. Even heard of Brain Tumor, onset of Seizure. I don't think any of that would be true since I feel fine other wise. I just want it TO GO AWAY! Any suggestions????
I feel very fortunate that each of the 3 times I've had it happened it only last a couple of weeks. I only used Simply Saline and also would put some like Vics or something similar under my nose to try to lessen the exhaust smell. I wish I could be more helpful, but I did narrow mine down to it be caused by whatever they use in aerosol sprays. One time it was unscented bug spray ........so it wasn't annoying me enough to sit somewhere else, and the other 2 times it was from using spray paint. Maybe there is an ingredient in the aerosol that is also in a substance that you use.
I encourage you to not blame it on your health....many many people are complying of toxic fumes from these tv components

I have it too, everywhere I go I keep asking my husband do you smell that you smell that, if I’m in the car I smell it if I’m at home no matter what room I’m in I smell it. Its driving me crazy.I tried a nasal flush which worked really good for two days and then it came back again I’m gonna try the vitamin B 12 like you say what have I got to lose. Thanks for sharing
