If anyone else is experiencing dizziness, fatigue, coughing and sweats, especially at night... please please PLEASE get tested for Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I was 18 months waiting to get diagnosed with mine. I don't want to scare people, it is unlikely you have it (glandular fever is more common) but mention it to your doc, please.

To all those who have the sore throat that won't go away, even after going to the doctor and taking antibiotics (assuming its nothing very serious).

Bacterial infection: evil bacteria infecting you. Can be treated by antibiotics.
Viral infection: virus. Antibiotics will attack your good bacteria, since there's no bad ones. Your immune system has to be the hero.

Unfortunately, you all have the latter.

I'm going through this too. I've had a sore, dry throat (worse in the mornings and nights) and a bit of a cough for 2.5 weeks now. I only find relief when I eat/drink something (peanut butter helps!).

BEST THINGS TO DO (the usual things when you have a cold):

*Plenty of liquids
*Make sure you eat your meals and snacks
*Plenty of orange juice (Vitamin C aids the immune system)
*Gargle warm salty water 2-3 times a day (natures mouthwash, will kill germs)

Welcome to the club. I've had this sore throat for 5 weeks now. Came after I caught a cold. Lost my voice for 4 days. Now it is four weeks after that and I still have slight pain on the right side of back of my tongue leading to the throat. Only hurts when I swallow. This is very annoying. I feel absolutely 100% fine except for the nagging pain. Would really like to know what is going on.

I've had this for a month and it is getting better very, very slowly. I do a nasal flush several times a day with warm water, slightly salty, eating tons and tons of vegetables with garlic and ginger and onions and not too much else, table spoonful of apple cider vinegar a few times a day, taking probiotics and vitamin C and echinacea, sleep with a humidifier and take hot showers and breath the steam through my nose. Avoid sweets.

Wow. I can't believe I came across this site. I honestly thought that I have throat cancer or something. I never realized there are so many other people suffering from the exact same symptoms as I am. NOW I'm convinced. It's GERM WARFARE people. They're killing us slowly. The planet is contaminated with chemicals and we're ingesting them daily by the air we breathe and foods we eat. Ever heard of Chemtrails. What a sad world it has become with all the selfish evil people. I yearn for the good old days. Look at the weather patterns changing all over the world. It's not a coincidence that the sun barely shines anymore. All this because I've had a sore throat that won't go away : ((((

My husband and I have been sick since the 25th of Jan... although I experienced muscle aches/numbness/stiffness and chills that disappeared, 2 or three days before the sneezing, headache and other flu symptoms, including the sore throat, appeared. We had intensive treatment with antibiotics for 6 weeks to no avail. The cold symptoms have all but disappeared for both of us except for the headaches, fatigue and sore throat. My husband and I also sweat a lot, our sore throats are both on the left side. However, I have a left earache that comes and goes and the right side of my throat is sore from time to time too.

We have been to the doctor many times like many of you. She says we have swollen glands. It is not GERD. After reading what you have written here, I went online to see if there was some alternate treatment. The Mayo Clinic site gave. Slippery Elm, Sage, Andrographis, Licorice root, and Serrapeptase enzyme as possible treatment solutions. I am going with the latter in the form of "SerraPlus+ 80,000IU" since it contains other trace elements that should help. It is a logical approach since it is an anti-inflammatory that promotes healing thus enabling the body to repair itself. Good luck one and all. We will let you know if anything works and hopefully you will do likewise!

OK just updating. Our sore throats are GONE. We had to take as much Ester C as possible, extra vitamin A, extra Zinc, Serrapeptase enzyme (SerraPlus+ 80,000IU), AND swab our throats with Argyrol that we had to order online. FINALLY afeter six months, we managed to get rid of this afliction! The doctors, hospitals, and antibiotics, not to mention the drain on our finances (as well as on our morale since we had to work tired and sick all this time)! Hope that our "cocktail" of things will also work for you. All the best

This sounds exactly like me. Tried antihistamines, no effect, been on a single nexium for 2-3months with some effect but pain on left side persists. Been going on almost a year. Had cold/flu too some antibiotics then started getting intermittent sore throat, left side, which gradually became continuous, then right side started to hurt a bit. That's when I saw a doctor and started nexium. right side cleared up quickly, but left is still the same, or a little worse.

Well let me add also that I have had just about the same symptoms and resutls as the rest of you. I had what I thought was a strep throat about 3 months ago- came on after a very stressful job situation.. I figured I was run down and stressed out.. and I was. So, I had this really sore throat with white patches on them.. had the strep swab.. came back negative.. had a high fever with this 103 for 2 days took plenty of tylenol and drank a lot of water.. The thing here is that the throat problems never went away completely.. and now I've been told by my ENT that I have a sinus infection, was treated with antibiotic Levaquin which is a rather strong antibiotic.. any way it seemed to help a little but not long after I was back at the ENT office again... again he saw red throat, swollen tonsils and some white patches on the back of the throat and down my throat with the little tube with camera.. so he put me back on another antibiotic Doxycycline for 10 days.. seemed to help a lot with the neck gland/node pain.. I really felt better and stronger.. again, 5 days later my throat is sore again and red and my GP told me my throat was red again today and she put me on Clotrimozale Troche which treats fungus infections.. I'm going back to my ENT again tomorrow.. Just to throw this in.. other oddities in my body during this phase of throat issues was a bout of "Gout" on my right foot behind my big toe.. but I am a really big fish eater and bean eater which I cut back and the gout has subsided.. Also a fatty cycst which my GP said was harmless was found by my right arm at the elbo and bicep muscle.. I am getting an ultrasound test for that.

In addition I have had all the tests ie, for std's all came back negative.. my blood work was normal.. my vitals are normal...

Very strange stuff.. I never had allergies either before this year.. ever! But when winter ended and spring began this year I couldn't stop sneezing and blowing my nose.. I must have bought 100 tissue boxes?

2012?

hi, sorry you are going through what you are going through.. I am going through the same things.. also my job was affected.. I have discomfort in my throat, neck and it makes me feel weak and not like myself which changes everything I do including exercising, work, and just being my self and in a good mood.. now my mood is frustrated because I can't seem to get my health back? It's very frustrating so I feel your pain (literally).

But on your comment about the 'fungus' I also just today saw my doctor and she put me on this medicine called Clotrimazole Troche which are basically like pretty big pills that you suck on and they dissolve down your throat.. she said that they kill fungus? So she wants to know if they help if they do it might be a fungus issue. I have also been thinking of getting a Hepa Filter Home Purifier to clean out the air in my apartment.. I mean I'll try any thing.. I even tried 'oil of oregano' for a month.. but nothing is curing this thing?
