Hi,
I have the very same symptoms you have described. Loss of balance, feeling of discomfort in my left ear, dizziness, blurry vision, tingling, pain in my left cheek, headaches, feeling heavy in the head. the worst is the loss of balance and the feeling of going to fall down. My CT scan indicated sphenoid sinus congestion and mucosal buildup. Going to see an ENT in a few months, but until I get the specialized help, I am completely stressed out about what is wrong with me. the Anxiety is killing me.

Did any of you in the above posts, find out what was wrong and get cured???

Thank you,
MH

My doctor prescribed an anti-inflammatory and I took it but wasn't feeling that I was improving.  I had been reading about people who were helped by taking colloidal silver so I bought some at the pharmacy and started on that as well.  I read that it was the origina antibiotic and is safe to take.   I also went to my chiropractor and had the "electro treatment machine" on my neck and shoulders.  She also massaged the back of my head but that seemed to set off more discomfort that would last for a day or so.  I discontinued the massage after a couple treatments but kept up the electro one for abut 5 weeks.  (Sorry, but I don't know the exact name for that machine they use in chiropractic offices).   After approx. 2 months I was much improved and I have felt well ever since.  I don't take the colloidal silver any longer but I would not hesitate to use it again if I felt the need.  I'm very sorry for anyone who is suffering as I did with this problem.  I hope I have helped you.

You ever get this fixed. I have the exact same thing! The doctors don't believe my ears pop and crack and that my neck is crunchy and painful. I have the worst headaches everyday for the last two years. I'm not getting blurry vision and overall feeling of illness. Front face headaches through nose, eyes, forehead. Some days top of head also. Behind my eyes hurts when I move them. It's not always but part of the time, feels like the chords leaving My eye are swollen or something. I have major brain fog and forgetfulness. Tired, run down, just not well. I got an MRI today and now have to wait a week for the dr. Appointment for the results.

Hi! I have recently had surgery on my sphenoid sinuses. They were completely blocked, and had been so for quite a long time. The surgeon said it was really difficult getting the gunk out because it was almost rock solid! Anyway, I had the weirdest and most uncomfortable symptoms, and I'm not sure wether they are all linked to this one thing, but certainly hope so (that way they must pass). I would feel tremendously weak, and just the smallest change in barometric pressure would cause me to feel completely out of it. In addition to feeling extremely fatigued my head would also feel really hot from time to time, and sometimes my nose and cheeks would turn completely red. When I got these facial flushing episodes I would also feel so weak and ill that I sonetimes felt like I was going to pass out. Now that I've had the surgery I do feel a bit better, but my sinuses are still not healed, so the pressure and ringing in my ears is still present. Sometimes I feel a lot of pressure behind my nose, and it will turn red and warm, and feel very congested. When this happens I feel like my sinuses swell shut, and it may take days before I feel it gets any better. Has anyone experienced anything remotely similar?

Hi Mike. First let me say I believe you feel quite poorly. Over two decades: numerous sinus infections, numerous antibiotic rounds as well as steroids. Steroids help so much but are not safe for frequent or long term use (too bad).....I use steroid nasal sprays, I irrigate regularly with saline/tad of baking soda. I steam regularly. I do have significant allergies I might add (per skin tests) as well as heavy rhinitis all year long. Was on injections for nine years and they did help. Currently, three months ago, developed headaches from hell, daily. Was sleeping ok, was fine for first 4-5 hours I was up in the morning, then BAM.....headaches started and escalated until I either took Aleve (2 tabs) or finally fell asleep. Pain was in back of neck, eyes (with blurred vision on occasion), in my ears, cheeks, teeth and top of head. Often all at the same time. I do not like taking meds any more than necessary and refused prescription pain meds from my doc. (note, I am a retired R.N.) and I believe in finding the cause and treating that, not just "pain"...... I am 67 years old and have NEVER had headaches. Sinus CT shows complete opacification of sphenoid sinuses with thinning and dehiscence of the anterior left sphenoid sinus wall. My doc is getting approval for an ENT consult (I am on a HMO insurance plan). Will update when that happens. Good luck to you Mike and let me know what your ENT doc says OK? Jeanie

I had the same sphenoid fungal surgery as your wife. It was on my left side. I now have a lot of head pressure and pressure behind my eye. Last CT scan showed fluid and air pressure. I also get light headed and that falling feeling when I lay down on that side. I had these symptoms before the surgery and had hope that surgery would cure my problem but it did not. How is your wife doing today?

I had sphenoid surgery. They removed a fungal ball the size of a dime. I suffer the same air pressure in my head now. Head is in pain but full of pressure. Pressure even gets behind my eyes. Seeing spots and flashes. Saw my eye doctor and he said my eyes were ok. Had a CT scan done and now waiting for results. So tired of feeling like my head is going to explode.

I have had two sphenoid sinus surgeries. The first one was a joke and didn't last but two months and was completely filled up with junk again. Saw a second surgeon, second operation. He ways he put antifungal powder in the sinus cavity. I got staph in my nose. He then put me on Doxycycline and Bactroban ointment. Said the first surgeon didn't make the hole big enough, so he took a large portion of bone out of the sphenoid sinus and fixed a deviated septum. To your point finally, when I woke up from the second surgery I had an excruciating headache (think migraine x 10). My neck had this big knot sticking out of it and has yet to go away. The headaches are still there day and night and feel as if my head is going to explode. If I sit up, it feels like the pressure keeps building and building. Had an MRI of my whole spine on Sat and hopefully this shows something. If it doesn't, I'm asking for a brain MRI. I am sick of, as I am sure you are. I am also sick of doctors not listening to a damn word you say and just write you off. I do hope you get relief and let me know what happens.

I have been to so many doctors for the last few years complaining of neck pain, headaches and sinus pressure. Everyone said there is no connection but today I had an MRI that showers sphenoid sinus disease. Finally an answer!!! Your symptoms were very similar to mine.

I have terrible pain in my neck and in the back of my head too for 3 months now, first diagnostic was for suboccipital neuralgia.I also get very intense pression in my neck and back too especially when I bend over. This symptoms occured after 1 month first I had like some electric shocks around my right part of my head and neck the pain end in my right arm. After some while those electric shocks started to go away after taking some meds the neurologist prescribed but I still have this pression at the back of my head and neck.when i lay down the pression turns into an aching pain all over my head and neck it's just unbeareable.I had also this cracking noise in my neck.So apparently I have similar symptoms to yours but i never had any pression or sore spots in my face, but I had diziness and brain fog though.I did a cervical Rx but nothing important releaved just some minor injury on my cervical spine so apparently this was not the problem.I have this pain for so long time I just feel I will never get better.I will do an MRI too but honestly I'm scared to death of doing it because I'm affraid the'll find out that i have some sinus infection. This pain put me already in a miserable mood,I feel really depressed if i'll find out that i really have this I think i'll freak out this kind of sinusitis is a very dangerous one from what I read about it.if i really have it i will just feel that my life is over.

I have very similar symptoms to what has been described here. It's been like this for 4 months!

First, I use to have sinusitis (for many years) (normally pain in my cheek but dry nose) but never paid much attention to it as it use to go away in 3-4 days!

However, last December I woke up with a nosebleed (not very serious) and after that I was having pressure in my face and after a couple of days I developed vertigo and a stiff neck which lasted 2-3 weeks. Had antibiotics and stuff for the vertigo from my GP and the vertigo stopped however, the sinus problem wasn't gone.

After that, I mostly had pressure in my maxilar sinus, stiff neck and a dull headache, which ups and downs but after 2-3 months the symptoms changed slightly to:
- Pressure feeling in my head and a pulling feeling from my neck. Plus crepitus / cracking noises in my neck.
- Almost no pressure in my face or cheek, so this all seems much better, but still hear cracking noises in that area too!
- Headache and pressure is worse at night. It wakes me up after an hour of lying in bed, sometimes I can't even sleep in the whole night. If I get to sleep the whole night I wake up with a horrible headache which goes away after 30 mins of getting up.

The pressure feeling feels like tension, the cracking noises are heard specially when I force myself to relax my neck or face or I'm lying in bed or move my head slightly.

GP wise - Took 2 courses of antibiotics, Nasonex (steroids), decogestants with no results. Nasonex just made my nose bleed more...
At home, I have a humidifier, (I don't really have mucus to be honest and I can breathe fine), and have done saline nasal irrigations since it all started. Also I'm drinking more water than usual and tried some herbal stuff but no luck...

I'm waiting to get an appointment to see an ENT which can take months in the UK. Life is miserable at the moment as the days I don't get sleep I can't really do much at work or I just have to stay home.

I'm curious what happened. Did you have a problem with the sphenoid sinuses? I guess that would show up on a CT scan.

I had symptoms similar to yours, and I found that I was simply dehydrated. I had chronic diarrhea and dehydration, and from that I ended up develop sinus problems -- extreme dryness that resulted in unbelievable headaches, often that would wake me up in the middle of the night. The feeling was so strange in my head, I thought I might be going into a coma or something.

I believe this also affected the sphenoid, which accounts for the pain on top of my head and a variety of other strange sensations. Like you, I developed tinnitus. I had a sort of dizzy feeling, but I did not have a vestibular problem -- I never lost my balance. I often wanted to lie down, though, because I was afraid I was going to pass out, but I never passed out and lying down did not help me to feel better.

Anyway, this all corrected when I got rid of the diarrhea and began rehydrating. At first, I was on intravenous fluids and the improvement was dramatic. I had that for one week. Then over the course of two more weeks of drinking a lot of water, inhaling steam, and now lately using a steroid nasal spray, my headaches and weird dizzy feelings are almost entirely gone. This makes me more certain that the symptoms were sinus-related, although I never had any evidence of infection there -- just bleeding.

Anyway, the tinnitus remains. Not sure that will ever diminish. :-(

Like you, I had pain behind the eyes. I also had some funny things happening with my vertebrae, and I understand now that I was so dehydrated that this was also affecting my spine and the way the vertebrae were cushioned. It's kind of amazing all the things that happen when you are dehydrated. I developed kidney stones. Yikes, that hurt! And I also had sometimes a very slow heart rate, just above 40 bpm, far below my normal 66.

Well, good luck to you.

I would suggest you see a Bowenwork Therapist as they have a great procedure for correcting the sphenoid bone. When the sphenoid is out of place sometimes just tilted slightly it can cause the problems you have described and worse.

Hi Mike I have everyone of the symptoms youve mentioned. Exactly!!! I have only just realised its sphenoid sinus condition. How did you go with the doctor? Im going to see the GP tmrw to get a referal for a ct scan.
