this is me again. My husband had H polylori and is acid reflux was so bad that he had to have 2 surgery's on is throat. Anyway try Tumeric it is a seasoning and it will stop the acid and the burning in your stomach/ throat and it is also great for many other things besides cooking with just take a pinch in your mouth followed by water or something. Also start sprinkling it on your food. It will work and what do you have to lose. Best wishes and luck to all of you!

i am a 36 yr old male and have suffered the same symptoms as you since i was a kid. Every time i eat, my stomach gets bloated which makes it hard to get a deep breath. it feels as if i am overheated when in reality i'm not. these symptoms get worse when i am in a restaurant which is warm inside or when i am in a warm room after i eat.
i have gone to the doctor and have had test taken but the results are always negative. sometimes it feels as if my bloated stomach is squeezing my organs and that is what is causing the uncomfortable sensation that casues me to have what feels like a panic attack. It has gotten to the point that when i go out with friends and family i do not eat and rarely do i drink liquids unless i am at home.
I also do not have answers for what is causing this. sometimes i think it all in my head.
No you are not crazy, as I sit here writing this I cannot breathe. it always happens after I eat, this time I ate a VERY small meal and cannot catch my breath, I have had all kinds of tests, been told I have Acid Relfux GERD, okay that is fine, what can I do about the breathing , I have almost given up and stop eating, I cannot live like this,. I need a doctor to explore all possibilities with me,
tumeric will stop the bloating and get your breathing on track again. try it. You can get it at any local grocery store in the seasoning area

Hi, thanks for feedback on problem with breathing/tightness cannot catch a breath. So, I take fresh turmeric or the one in seasoning bottle? And how much to take daily?
Some of you should get checked out for nerve damage. A GP can organize a Neurologist appointment and they can find out if you do or don't have nerve damage. If you show signs of it, they will find out if you have it. Feeling hot when you shouldn't be can be a sign of it. Excessive/spontaneous weight loss. Difficulty breathing/swallowing, increased/decreased heart rate, unexplained blood pressure levels, and a bunch more I can't remember. I suffer these symptoms too. Since a fall which twisted my spine and ribs, and gave me nerve damage. I've had these symptoms for 5 years. Analyzing the f**k out of them. I know mine are not psychological. I'm generally not stressed, too. (People think I'm the calmest person on Earth) I can be sitting in 10 degrees celcius, sweating my ass off. Unable to eat. And barely able to breath. It's a regular occurance for me. And for years, doctors have neglected me. Telling me it's in my head, or caused by marijuana smoking (I considered this for a while, but it didn't match up with when it started. I started smoking pot almost a year after the symptoms started showing from the incident.)
I at first thought I had Diabetes. Because the symptoms are shared amongst both nerve damage and diabetes. (There is also a diabetic nerve damage) Diabetes is the easiest to check for. A simple 5 second pin prick test can let you know.
Hyperthyroidism could also be possible. It shares many symptoms of Nerve damage. Including the insensitivity to heat, difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing, spontaneous weight loss, anxiety, hair loss, fatigue, muscle weakness and more. This can be checked out with a simple blood test too.
I hope this helped. As a neglected sufferer of these symptoms for 5 years, I don't think people should live unaware of it. Those mentioning posture I'd say are more likely to suffer from nerve damage. Nerve damage can be treated with therapy.
Also. I don't know if any of you do the same. But I get very annoyed at the inability to breath. But, while yawning, I have no problem. In fact, it's the most satisfying thing I've felt for years. I force myself to yawn extremely often, just so I can get the breath of air I crave. If you want a temporary 'fix' for the inability to breath, think about yawning a lot. It should trigger a yawn, and give you a full breath of air.
Being unable to breath can directly lead to feeling stressed or anxious because of the lack of oxygen, and too much carbon dioxide in your body. I once thought I was having a heart attack due to very heavy and irregular heart beat, chest pain, barely being able to breath, and other early signs. I called an ambulance. When they arrived they told me I was just having a panick attack. And ran me through a few things to try and help get more oxygen into my blood. Walking up and down helped a lot. Talking did too. Stress trigured more of the panic attack symptoms, although i didn't start in a panic. The doctors asked me question about if I felt something or not. And when they did, I jumped to the conclusion that it was a heart attack and instantly became worse. I have still experienced these symptoms for the full 5 years. Most of them appear severe too.
And if it matters. I'm 18 years old and Male. And also have a couple herniated disks.
I had scope down my throat and they found that I had a stone left in my bile duct after gall bladder surgery. After that time, I have had a real pain that grabs me on the left side of my lower stomach and I can't catch my breath like when I used to play football and get the breath knocked out of me. I know that somewhere my diaphragm is being affected causing the breathing problem. I take a hyoscyamine and place it under my tongue and the attack stops after a few more minutes. Now when I eat a regular meal, the bloating starts and yes, the burping starts. I had another scope through my throat and they said that my stomach was inflamed but I am about a year away from that time and I still have the same symptoms. Surely someone has gotten some relief from these symptoms to share with us.
I started doing the same thing as everyone on here about 2 months ago. I have been to the ER twice but all tests come back no problems. I notice this happens after I eat at times, (but not every time, or everyday) All of a sudden I feel that is is hard to breath, feel like my nasal area tightens up, pressure down to my lungs, making it hard to breath. Even talking is difficult cause I feel as though I am not getting enough air. At the beginning this feeling caused panic attacks to come on not knowing whats happening. Now I just try to stay calm til it passes, which could be an hour or more. I am wondering if its not a slight food allergy of some kiind. I already avoid all dairy because of lactose intolerance. My doctor has no clue and ordered blood work, thyroid test (all normal) now going for adominal ultrasound, and Head CT. (pretty sure that will all be normal) I am not wanting to think this is anxiety- I am doing nothing when this happens, and have no reasons to have anxiety. Something is causing this and I will research it until I find out, because I cant keep doing this, and being afraid to eat.

Now I have it all narrowed down to a food allergy...anytime I eat wheat, I get those same symptoms, also when I eat Pears I get burning, and tingling in my mouth and throat, sometimes also on my lips, then my nasal area seems to swell up. There is NO way any of this is in our minds or just anxiety as doctors, who dont know you, and often times dont take the time to listen to you, think. Now I will have to find an Allergist to get it confirmed, and avoid these foods at all cost.
chest x-ray (twice)
barium swallow
chest ct (twice)
scope of throat (irritation below voice box; said from GERD)
cardiology workup
EKG (twice)
blood tests (4 times)
hormone level test
All tests and x-rays etc came back completely normal. Yet, most days usually starts early in the day and lasts until 7-8pm I experience difficulty in getting deep breaths, and I experience alot of what I call "fake burping" which is when the air seems to come from my chest or throat, but definitely not actual stomach gas that would relieve any pressure in that area. My stomach feels very tight right after eating a small amount like a small salad and piece of bread.
I, too, agree that stress is involved and alot of this came on after I had my first ever surgery to remove an ovarian cyst. That surgery weakened my stomach muscles and the recuperation period weakened my back muscles and I'm sure that plays into the deep breathing issue too. Wish I had more information, or a solution, but just know there IS a possiblity that nothing is wrong, it's just our bodies way of reacting to stress. Sitting at a desk most of the day helps us to stay hunched over which compresses our stomach and our lungs. Practice good posture and practice diagphramic breathing. It may help!

I have a similar problem. I get a tightness in my throat and upper chest, making it feel difficult to get a satisfying breath. Breathing is strained and I feel like I cannot get enough air in. It feels like something in my chest is knotting up and squeezing me. Sometimes the tightness comes on in a wave through my chest. I get this everyday at work as well. It gets worse as the day progresses.
Earlier this year I went to my doctor and had many tests:
- EKG
- Echocardiogram
- Stress test with imaging
- a pulmonary function test
- Chest xray
- Sonogram of my lower body
- Scope of upper throat
- Blood tests
The only thing found was a slight irritation below my vocal cord which the doctor said was from GERD, but that it would not cause a breathing problem. Basically, there was no answer. I did go to a chiropractor who claimed it was from bad posture - I have mild scoliosis and bad posture from working at the computer all day. However, I gave up the chiro treatment because I didn't like how it felt. So I think this is from 1 or more of the following reasons:
1.) Stress & Anxiety
2.) Bad posture from computer use
3.) Reflux
Like others have mentioned, these symptoms have greatly limited my life recently. I don't like to go out to eat at work because it gets hard to swallow sometimes, and I feel like I can't breathe, and when I talk I am completely out of breath.
Right now I am trying to look for a way to relax. I am trying aerobic exercise because I am really out of shape and out of breath a lot.
Does everyone on this thread use the computer 8+ hours a day? Perhaps we can find a common cause for this problem.
I too, have had the symptoms you are all listing. I too went through the following tests all in a 4month time frame:
chest x-ray (twice)
barium swallow
chest ct (twice)
scope of throat (irritation below voice box; said from GERD)
cardiology workup
EKG (twice)
blood tests (4 times)
hormone level test

Try xanax .25mg take it when you you can not breath or can not swollow when you eat. The medication works in 15 min and it last for 2 to 3 hours. But it is not the answer to cure these symptoms as it only will help in short term to breath or eating your food without feeling something stuck in your throat.
I don't know how to avoid it or if it will ever come back. I did eat a lot a
and fast!
Relief:
