Stretch marks won't heal and keep itching and hurting. No more weight gain lately more keep appearing. The latest one is a inch across and turned dark brown. It has been inflamed on and off for weeks. I go to sleep with weird pains in my leg and wake up with a new mark.

Stretch marks, known medically as "striae," are caused by the stretching of the skin, which can result in tearing of the dermal layer. They can be associated with rapid growth, weight gain, pregnancy, or other factors. However, the symptoms you describe — particularly the itching, pain, and inflammation — are not typical of everyday stretch marks and may suggest another underlying condition or complication.

Given the symptoms you've mentioned, it's essential to see a doctor or dermatologist who can provide an accurate diagnosis. Here are a few things to consider:

  1. Possible Conditions:

    • Striae with Inflammation: In rare cases, some individuals might experience inflammatory reactions associated with the development of striae.
    • Other Skin Conditions: There are several skin conditions that might resemble or be confused with stretch marks but present with itching and pain, such as certain dermatitis types.
    • Infections: If an area is inflamed, painful, or discolored, it could indicate a secondary bacterial infection, which would need treatment.
  2. General Care: While waiting for your doctor's appointment, try to keep the area clean and moisturized. Avoid scratching, as this can exacerbate the problem. If you're experiencing pain or inflammation, over-the-counter creams or ointments might provide temporary relief, but always consult with a pharmacist or doctor before applying anything.

  3. Potential Causes: While stretch marks are often associated with weight gain, other factors, such as hormonal imbalances, certain medications, and genetic predisposition, can also play a role. The sudden appearance of multiple stretch marks without a clear cause warrants medical investigation.

I hope your issue will be resolved soon.
