Hello I'm on my 2nd time getting off subs, I have only o.g mg sub films, 3 left! My family Dr. gave me clonidine o,g mg 2x a day, also I take Klonopin for my anxiety disorder/attacks 1 mg 2x a day (I take them as needed) and seriqoul to sleep. I work 40 plus hours a week, just got a new job as a manager making great money, a true blessing! I had someone offer me subs and i don't wat them at all. I got off them before and I was on 2 mg a day and got kicked out the Dr.s office do to my insubordination to a nurse 3 years ago. I had only klonopin at the time and I was sick and had hypertension and added anxiety for a month.

I laid in bed all day pretty much. But, I did it. Then I got back on pain pills after I was almost beat to death. So then I stupidly went back to the methadone/suboxone clinic (I also have taken methadone in the past it's terrible and no help, another addiction is all). This time I have 3 o.g films left, clonidine/klonopin/seroquel and I think I wont need to got a clinic again or Dr. with a license to prescribe it. I can do this this time and my work will keep my mind busy.... Wondering what you feel? I also feel glad you made this post and everything is true about what you said! god Bless and best of luck, I just felt you'd understand since we have taken all the same roads in life to battle an addiction... :)

I've been on 8mg for 2 years and 16mg for 2 years, now thats a total of 4 years (da), I got a 80mg of meth and sipped it over the weekend and I feel fine. I've been through 80 mg meth detox (cold turkey) and kicked heroin many, many times and compared to that, this was a breeze. I have a high tolerance to pain, so if your a panzy, you may want to try something different or that a little longer !!

Hey guys, long story short, I had a rare 10 day window with no responsibilities, and after unsuccessfully using suboxone to stay away from full agonists for a long while (alternating back and forth between sub/heroin) I decided I just didn't want to be dependent on any opiate and to use my 10 days.  My decision came with no advanced warning so I jumped off at 16mg/day.  Here I am coming up on my day 11.

..feeling 40% of myself.  I have support meds.

I just went to my sub doc again, urine screen showed I still had detectable bupe in my system.  I'm still determined, please give me encouragement, I know  I've got a ways to go yet.

It does get better! Been off subs for about 6 months now. Not easy. Just take one day at a time, force yourself to get excersize, eat well, take Benedryl for sleep and I found phenibut and kratom tea to work wonders. Also, paws could come into play down the road, you can get benedrex (ephedrine) to help with energy. All substances I recommended are legal and can be found online (benedrex at rite aid). But please read up on them before using. They can also be powerful in their own way.

I appreciate your advice on support meds. I take Clonidine and Vistaril. For me - anxiety was always an issue. So ephedrine would send me through the roof. I'm not sure how others would handle it.. Then again - i have a pretty bad problem with doing things in MODERATION.

Maybe you were not taking Sub long enough.2 1/2 months is not a long time. I have been taking Sub for 8 straight years, never missing a day with NO relapses. Sub saved my life. I have no plans of stopping. Why? Because it will lead me right back to Heroin. I choose to stay on Sub because I am a chronic relapser if I am off everything. I need "something" and Sub is that "something." I take 24 mgs. a day. Never decreased or increased from the first day. If so many people have complaints about coming off of it, then just stay on it. Continue taking it. If money is an issue; however, then I understand. But if you can afford it and are having problems stopping it, then continue to take it. The side effects while taking Sub are certainly better than the devastating withdrawals when you stop. Here's to another 8 years of Sub. I am all for it.

I am in day four of withdrawal from Suboxtone. The worst so far has been day two and day three. But even they weren't as hard as I thought they would be.

Day 1: I felt like dying. Hot and cold sweats, horrible restless legs, creepy crawling in my stomach, back, and legs, insomia, yawning.

Day 2: Same but much worse, added inability to eat.

Day 3: Once again much much worse.

Day 4: much BETTER. restless leg almost gone. able to eat. able to sleep.

i was on tabs for almost 6 years before I started the sub treatment. Was on sub for two and a half years. I started at 16 mg a day. Tapered down to 8 mg a day. The doc stopped tapering me after that. Like I was going to stay that way for the rest if my life. last month I finally told my doc that i wanted to stop subs once and for all. he was like "aww but you are doing so well." no i was not!!!!! i was depressed, couldn't get myself out of bed. subs made me into a person i did not want to be. i was on anti depressants, anti anxiety pills, and mood stabilizers. i have never been on so many medications in my entire life! the thing is that the meds made everything worse. me and my husband started fighting on a daily basis. not just arguing i am talking knock down drag outs. after six months of this i decided something has for to give. so i stopped taking everything. not a single pill went into my system for four days. i was on still 8 mg a day at this point. i thought i was really dying or killing myself. so i started the subs again. i started to taper down from there. the doc took me from 8 mg to 4 mg a day a month ago. that wasnt enough for me so i went to 2 mg a day. then 2 mg every other day. then 2 mg when i absolutely needed it. Friday was the last time i took a sub. i am working on day five and i am still kicking and screaming but mentally feel so so much BETTER. yes i have withdraw symptoms, but mentally stronger than i have felt in years.

i am highly greatful for the sub program for getting me off of tabs. the w/d from tabs is a million Times harder than what i am going through right now. but don't agree with doing the program for more than a year. i contribute my mental instability to being on them for 2 1/2 years. one year max. if the doc wants to keep you on them any longer, then it is not about getting you healthy anymore. it's about making a profit.

i have taken ibuprofen 600 mg  for pain, vitamin b12 for energy and klonopins .5 mg for sleep, hot baths for the horrible restless legs. it seems to be working pretty well. i also have my smile and laugh back.

I think the best thing is prayer. pray every time you think about it or when you think you can't make it. even though you feel alone you are not. be safe and know that once you get through this, you Will never ever ever have to go through this again. what's a couple days  weeks of suffering when you could be free the rest of your life. it's a small price to pay. God bless.

day five: tired mostly. able to sleep. restless legs are back. diarrhea started. legs started to hurt. but able to sleep most of the day and  night. felt like throwing up several times today. especially after forcing myself to eat. crackers helped out a lot. still taking ibuprofen, klonopin and vitamin b12. legs feel like lead. still yawning a lot.

DAY SIX: getting my energy back slowly. was able to get up and cook breakfast for my family. even though i sat on a stool in front  the stove. restless legs, yawning, tired, little bit of aching but not unbearable.

i am basically doing this so some people know what i am going through. what  is strange is the day i decided to quit is the exact same day my mother sent me some na books. she had no clue what i was doing or what i was going through. God send for sure since i didn't talk to her for months until i got her package. God works in wonderful ways.

Hiya all,

I was on suboxone for 18months to get off chronic pain-management meds.  I started at 24mg/day for 6 months.  I then cut down to 16mg/day for 3 months, 8 mg/day for 3 months, 4mg/day for 3months, & finally 1.5mg/day for 3 months. I am now on day 6 of my withdrawals.  The first 24 hours I felt nothing. Of course, the half-life of suboxone is 37 hours (the time it takes for half of the drug to be cleared from your system), so one shouldn't begin to feel withdrawal effects until 36-48 hours.  The 2nd 24 hours, I yawned constantly, was chilled and my legs felt antsy.  I took my wellbutrin(buproprion) and lyrica(pregabalin) as usual (both 300mg/day) as well as medical marijuana.  I am also a avid gym-goer.  I typically work out for 3 hours/day.  When I was withdrawing from the drug I worked out the same amount.  If you can't sleep at night, do some exercising.  Go for a run (if you're in a safe neighborhood), go to a 24hour gym, do jumping jacks, whatever. I found while detoxing from the subs it is best to stay as busy as possible. The 3rd-5th days I felt a bit antsy and would have occasional hot and cold flashes.  I just continued on my lyrica, buproprion, and medical marijuana.  If you are having flu-like symptoms,  try to drink as much fluid as possible.  Pedialyte, gatorade, water.  Ibuprofen or acetominophen will also help. I feel for all of you posting on this site.  Everyone has their own way of getting through this, but if you don't know where to start...start with exercising. (I am not a doctor so please don't take my advice cautiously.  I do have a M.S. in Pharmacology/Toxicology.)

The above should say "I am not a doctor so please take my advice cautiously". Meaning "with a grain of salt"
