Don't substitute one for the other. I don't know one addict who can successfully drink socially or take just a 'little' heroin. Try to get off of everything if you can. I know it's tough. I was on subs for 4 years and ended up in rehab.

I have a question to any one off subs for over 2 months when you say you still don't feel right what do you mean by that likestill getting dizzy. Is there a chance it's just because your not used to being normal cause of the pills and sub use for years?

Also I've been withdrawaling for a month today andstill. Can't sleep anyone know when that comes back or how to get it back?

I was on subs for 4 years and went to rehab. I've been off for just over 4 months. I can't give you a definitive answer because I also detoxed from 15 years of benzos. My symptoms still persist. Each month gets progressively better. I'm still on Clonidine, Vistaril and Buspar. When I say that I'm still not 100%, it's mostly due to anxiety and muscle aches. It's definitely a lot more manageable than it was last month or the month before.

I am going to the doctor to try to get something for sleep that won't make me feel worse during the day any suggestions for what I should ask for. Unfortunately Ive been taking 2.5mg of a perk to put me out it's the only thing that works that doesn't make me feel bad the next day. I want to be completely clean but the anxiety and insomnia meds they gave me would only help for an hour or so of sleep and made it harder to get through the days. I've made it a month and am feeling better week by week but I'm afraid the ops I'm taking for sleep are holding me back.

Just 2 months would be a G-d send. Withdrawal severity and length depends on how LONG one is taking Sub. For me, it's been about 6 YEARS. So I'm certain I would probably rather go on and DIE than face a prolonged withdrawal. Avoiding withdrawal is why I started TAKING Sub in the first place. I hear that gradual tapering off Sub will decrease the severity of w/d- but I'm not so sure about that. In taking Sub (at different milligrams) for years now, I believe that one could just about take 1/3 to 1/2 the dose you're used to and MISS a few days in between and not go into w/d. But I wouldn't go more than a few days- because if you DO start mildly withdrawing, it will take your body 2-3 days to catch up to it's usual dose again.

If you're in withdrawal, there's not a thing in this world that's going to help you sleep except your D.O.C. (drug of choice) or Sub. Insomnia unfortunately is a big part of withdrawing . I have been over 5 weeks without sleep during w/d. Not even prescription sleep meds helped. Your body is having fits for you to give it what it's "used to." I suppose that after a few weeks, more hours of sleep will return gradually.

Boo that's not what I wanted to hear! Do you think taking a small amount of opiate just for sleep and not through out the day is bad?

I'm not taking any suboxone been off it for a month today. I've only been taking Percocet and vicodine to sleep and work only for like three to four days at a time. This week I'm only using it to sleep I was using tramadol but the headaches from it got bad.

I know this isn't what you want to hear but you're self-medicating to get off of suboxone which you originally started taking to get off of opiates. I'm not judging - i feel your pain. When i got home from rehab I went straight for my Klonopin but the wife had flushed them. I woke up in cold sweats for a month and then gradually got better.
If you talk to your doctor - ask for Clonidine (blood pressure). That's a big help. It's not something that will turn off the pain but it will definitely help. The Vistaril and Buspar I take are more for GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) which was why I was originally prescribed the Klonopin

Right now the sleep thing is basically the only thing that hasn't come back. I'm pretty good during the day I can't take any OTC pain killers or caffeine or I'll get sick. But other then that I have made progress. I know I shouldn't take them and I don't want to anymore. I've tryed the colindine it didn't work for me unfortunately. I have a half a Percocet left then I'm on my own guess I just have to ride it out. Thanks for the imput.
