Hi, i am 15 abs I had mine done yesterday! Didn't really know much about it then but I guess I do now. The op was fun I guess, and I think it's really only just hit me, I have been reading this post for about 50 minutes as I could not sleep in the minimal possible positions.

I took the bandage off after about 8 hours, was that too early? And since then I've had everything in just normal underwear! Should I not be doing this? Yeah it hurts but I thought it was better for it wearing clothes, even of its day 1 and I can only waddle around.

Any help on this topic? The surgeon said I will be able to play sport in just 5 days....any help for successful improvements?

Ps. The dirty looking lump of skin on the bottom side I think must be normal after a circ seeing I've seen a few people say they had it

I don't know how your surgery was done or in what country you are in, but the human body is the same around the world and large incisions made on the body which require stitches to hold together need at least 7-10 days to heal before any strenuous activity. 5 days is not long enough and you risk blowing your stitches and then your recovery time would be much longer, I would recommend 2 weeks, that's what my Doctor said, and most others I read. I was also told to leave the gauze on a full day, but if your not bleeding a lot then if should be ok.

As for sleeping if you have a lazy-boy chair or couch I would try sleeping on your back in it, it was the only way I could get some sleep for the first few days. The underwear I used was a smooth synthetic just to try and prevent the underwear from grabbing the stitches and pulling on them. Plus I wore it under another pair because I was using cream (Polysporin and Vaseline)  to speed healing and the second pair of underwear kept it from reaching my pants. Once you incision has healed I would try to return to normal clothes and not to baby it, if you can stand the pain on the gland it's better to get it over with instead of dragging it on by trying to keep it protected, good luck.

Thanks a lot for that help. Yeah I thought maybe my recovery was slow but I think the surgeon was just a bit inexperienced. I'm from Australia by the way, and I'm getting very impatient of the recovery after only 3 days:( I've started having a liquid coming from the stitches area, and I have seen that most people have that, so for now I am not worrying. Last night I think from erections etc there was a bit of blood, but it came off in the bath. I think I'll sleep on the couch tonight seeing as the first two nights on the bed have been painful. Any comments are appreciated

Hi there thought I'd post my thoughts to hopefully help those that are to have this op. I had mine 10 December 2012 so I am just over 4 weeks in. I read all the posts on here after I was feeling pretty low with the pain and sensitivity I was experiencing. The 3 weeks that some have mentioned was a real turning point for me too. Hang on in there everyone it does get better. I'm still struggling with the sensitivity but it's now bearable and I can finally see that it will all be fine before too much longer.

I'm a 25 year gut too I hope all is well Luke, im in the same situation as yours, I'm a 25 year old guy too.... Its been 3 weeks now since the surgery and the sensitivity is slowly decreasing, but the suchers (self dissolving stiches) have still not dissolved. I know they will in a week may be, but all I'm worried is the sensitivity. How long did it take before you could finally say that all was completely alright. one months 2 months - 3 months. Because I'm slated to get married in a month from now. And I'm anxious to know the time frame. Your reply could really give me a benchmark.
Thanks

Hey buddy,
I did not get done till I was about 15 or 17? Anyway, I found that if I wore a sock or wrapped it in tissue paper it helped a lot. Yes it will take time to form a protective layer. I do not remember exactly how long, because it was so log ago for me. I am thinking it was about 6 months, but was still very sensitive for well over a year or so.

I just thought I would share my experience with this topic. I am 23 and got my phimosis sorted out when i was 22. It was only at 20 when i first forced my foreskin over my glans during an erection, which lasted for long, and it was so tight i was literally preparing for the glans to BURST thats how sore it was, and big. All that blood was trapped.

So i went to the doctors to get it sorted out. He suggested a circumcision or a procedure to keep the foreskin and make it more stretchy. At the hospital i chose for that. A C-Y Plasty technique which stretched the foreskin out. Didnt fancy losing all sensation 20 or so years down the track.

Straight afterwards retractable foreskin, horah im normal. However sensitive beyond sensitive glans. Like others have said, couldnt even touch it or let it hit my leg it was so bad.

I starting retracting and treating with warm water in the shower. Seems to work best when water is quite hot, and I use my hands to make a stream onto the glans. When the nerves have been numbed, I start to tap it around like a cat.

I always leave the skin un retracted so it doesnt hurt but its taking forever to de-sensitise. So, i put my creative hat on and made a PENIS SOCK.

Thats right. It seems to be working. I am right now wearing it retracted with absolutely no pain or discomfort.

The sock acts as a way to harden the glans skin while protecting it from underwear and legs.

The way you make a sock is to get a soft cotton handkerchief (no paper), fold it in half, and then curl it around your retracted penis. Then i used medical / bandage tape to keep its shape together. I have just started doing this a few days ago, and already I can see an improvement.

I will write in in a few weeks with an update, but that with the water thing in the shower seems to be working.

Hello, 25 year old just had circumcision about 48 hours ago...I took the bandage off about an hour ago and can't bear the pain of the sensitive glans....I can slowly touch and rub my glans with my fingers but the minute it touches my boxers or shorts, the pain is unbearable...I can't keep my boxers on for longer than 2 minutes...any suggestions on how to get through this? Would tight briefs help?

I am a 76 year old male who had circumcision surgery a week ago yesterday.  It still hurts.  I don't think there is much you can do to alleviate the pain, but it will not last.  After 6 days it started to feel some better.  Today feels much better, but believe me, the pain is still present.  I am glad that it is over and that in a few more days the pain will recede completely and I'll be back to normal.

I am 26 yr old and i had circumcision 1 week ago. By reading all posts in this thread i was very scared to get operated, but the doctor told me that it's okay and there's nothing to worry abt it as he has done many operations like this before and everyone was happy after few days. I was suffering with phimosis and there's no other way around than being operated. Finally decided to get operated and everything went well. Of course there is pain now also, but its fine rather than suffering with phimosis. Waiting for next week so that the stitches gets absorbed and the pain will be less than what it is now. Just talk to your doctor if you have any questions reg getting operated. Hope to get recovered soon.

That's great, glad it went well for you and I hope for your speedy recovery. I am 6 months out now and still experience a bit of sensitivity but for the most part the tip is all good. However, let me just say for anyone out there who has experienced hypertrophic scaring in the past with other wounds you may want to prepare for a longer recovery time. I have no doubt I would be just fine by this point and it would hardly be noticeable in my daily life. As it stands, not the most fun, it had been so long since I has had a major gash I forgot I scarred in this manor and the pain associated with it. Still the pain is manageable so if you need the surgery it would still be the better choice, just let your doctor know, he may be able to take some extra care with the wound to minimize the effect

I thought I would offer my two cents because this thread has been so useful to me, and I hope to offer somebody else out there some advice:

I was circumcised nearly a week ago (Saturday 6th), and everything was surprisingly pain-free... until I took my bandages off on Wednesday. Growing up with phimosis, I had never seen my glans, and exposure to anything understandably created hypersensitivity. And I need to say, for me, Wednesday and most of Thursday was a living hell. Any contact with ANYTHING felt like torture, I couldn't wear pants, clothing, I couldn't shower and I couldn't sleep properly (I had to sleep between my bed and a nearby chair, dangling my penis in the middle so it wouldn't touch anything).

But I followed some of the advice in this thread and basically started playing with my glans in warm water, the sensitivity desensitized there. It was still super-sensitive, though. I was so concerned that I called my doctor who basically reassured me and told me that it'll get better. I don't know if it was the dipping into warm water and playing with it that helped, or the reassurance of my doctor, but on Thursday evening I was able to wrap my penis in soft gauze (taped up with tape, using a water bottle to mold it to the shape of my penis before I applied it to my glans) and wear three pairs of tight underpants to keep it in place. There were occasional spasms and discomfort, but I could move (slowly and awkwardly, but at least move) and sleep on my back with no real problems.

Waking up today I had some blood inside my underwear and a stitch had come loose in the night, but after visiting my doctor today I was told that what I was doing was fine, and that as long as blood isn't gushing and constant, it should be alright to smush my penis into my underpants in that way like I was doing.

There are still some minor problems, noticeably a brief bit of blood from the frenulum when I took my underpants off within the last hour, but remember to REALLY smear Vaseline onto the gauze before you put your penis inside of it. I also suggest maybe wearing less pairs of underwear, in case it's almost TOO tight.

So what I can say is that, for me, I had just over 24 hours of real awfulness. But I don't know if it was psychological mainly, that fear that it'll never stop and you'll always be like that. But after talking to someone (sincerely recommend that, be open somehow, even with a doctor on the phone!), my glans began to be tolerable and it's slowly getting better. I can now leave the house, walk around, with only mild discomfort. All I know is that there's now a light at the end of the tunnel.

I should add that my penis is still pretty beat up and doesn't look great, but in terms of being able to move and actually live like a person, it's on its way to being all good again.

Thanks to everybody on here, by the way, for being so helpful. I hope somebody out there one day reads this message and feels relief, too.

Wish me luck!
