How are you doing now? Your symptoms are just like mine except I usually have a fair amt. of urine because I try to hold it for awhile. I am a female.
Has anyone found a solution to this? I have the same symptoms. I went to the Urologist and basically told me to come back in 2 months to see if the problem was still there. I used to drink a lot of soda and coffee, but have quit 2 weeks ago (after I started having the symptoms). For the past 2 weeks, there has only been one day where I've not had symptops. All the other days have mostly been strong during my waking hours. A little bit less in the morning.
I have a desk job. I don't get up in the night and I don't have urges during the night when I do wake up. At least not the same urgency feel.
Doctors said no UTI and urine test came back negative after a culture test.
I am at a loss.
I have pretty much the same symptoms. It is usually worse when I am driving but sometimes it is fine so it is very confusing. I started playing around with my diet but could find no triggers. My Dr. ran a cat scan thinking it might be a kidney stone. But he found nothing. I thought it was overactive bladder but he said he didn't think so because that doesn't usually come out of the blue like mine seemed to. He said it usually develops slowly over a few years. But since all the tests came back negative, he went ahead and prescribed me medication for it (Vesicare). I really did not want to take it because I was worried about the side effects of dry mouth and constipation but I got tired off the stress of wondering if I would have a good day and becoming preoccupied with it. Luckily, I rarely experience symptoms. Now I may have 2 episodes a week but they are much shorter. I can also do fitness classes without worry. It is strange because I can sometimes feel that I I would be having feelings of urgency but I don't. It's almost like a warm sensation without the urgency so I know it is working. It is very frustrating that there is no answer but I have to remind myself that physicians do not know everything about the body and there is not unlimited research money so some medical questions just remain unanswered. Good luck.
please post back if you find a solution. I'm at a loss. This has taken over my life.
I am a young teenage female and I have this problem...
PS. A problem with internet forums and health conditions is that you rarely hear about when people improve their condition, you mostly only hear about how people feel at their worst. For example, it took 4 years for me to get back to this forum, even though I felt fine for the majority of the past 4 years. The only reason I responded is because I pulled out my computer from high school and saw this page on my bookmarks and decided to give an update. Things will get better!
When tired lie down and sit as less as possible throughout the day.
I have been dealing with this issue for some time now (~2-3 years), and I think I have an idea of what it is.
First some background: I am a 35 year old male who mostly has been sedentary. I had a desk job for the last 10 years or so (lots of inactivity), I ate mostly processed and fast food for years, and drank almost daily (mostly beer, but some wine and liquor as well). I also have hemorrhoids, which may or may not have something to do with this. My physical health declined to the point that about 9 months ago I did almost a complete 180; I gave up processed foods, started eating more vegetables and exercising almost daily, now getting into yoga (which is amazing, btw), you get the idea.
At my desk job, we had free coffee, which led to me drinking quite a bit of it. Between the coffee in the morning, water in the afternoon, and beer at night, my bladder/kidneys were definitely working full-time. The bathroom was located about 200 feet from my work station, and I was noticing that I would suddenly have an incredibly urge to urinate, but as I was walking to the bathroom the urge would subside almost completely by the time I got there. Rather than look stupid for walking halfway to the bathroom and turning around every half hour, I would go and squeeze out a little bit of pee, then go back to my desk wondering if I had some prostate issue.
Lack of exercise leads to weak muscles, and your bladder is essentially a muscle. Doing kegels has been helping me so far. It's hard to properly diagnose this because so many factors are at play, i.e. amount of fluids you consume, especially alcohol and coffee. Since my fluid intake consists entirely of coffee, water, and until the last year or so alcohol, you can probably imagine the number of times I had to urinate in a day. Reading things like, "If you urinate more than 7 times a day, there's something wrong" is ridiculous because everyone drinks different amounts of fluids. I probably hit 7 times by noon on any given day.
Coffee and caffeine are both diuretics, meaning you will generally pee more frequently when you drink them. So is alcohol. I refuse to give up coffee (I'm a zombie without it), so that's out of the question in my eyes.
I think the problem (for me anyway) is that when you sit you're pinching your bladder. Maybe it's early signs of an enlarging prostate, but if I have the (seemingly) uncontrollable urge to urinate and I do some kegels, the urge goes away for the most part. Then it'll come back a few minutes later, I'll do some more kegels, it'll go away. This will repeat for a while, then the urge will stop going away with kegels, and I'll urinate. Usually by that time there will be quite a bit, which is a relief both physically and mentally.
This is just a theory and I am in the beginning stages of testing it, but so far it seems like I'm on the right track. Kegels will improve your bladder control, and as far as I know this is the only way to strengthen this muscle. Any muscle will atrophy with continued disuse.
Sorry for the length of this post, I tend to ramble sometimes. Hopefully this provides some help/relief. I would appreciate feedback, as this would be more data to test my theory.
