Another time, while trying to sleep but still full of chinese food, I got emmense cramps and tummy rumbling. After minutes of waiting it out, I decided it was time to try to go upstairs to the bathroom. I made it out of my room and had to sit down on a chair because of crazy pain and head spins. I got up and slowly climbed the stairs. Near the top, the dizziness caused it faint. I could hear my self hit all the steps and roll. I yell and my mom wakes up. As she saw me, I vomitted. My mom called 911. I remember getting up and well enough to reach the toilet. My sister says that she heard me struggling with the diarrhea. An ambulance then showed up and 2 cute EMTs took me to the hospital. They even had me on the stretcher and carried me out of the house hehe Apparently they were a tad worried about my back.. anyways, I have had many more episodes alone, which I prefer.. it is quite scary tho

This will not stop the flare and the cramps but will make it lesser and faster to end.

Hello fellow sufferer!
I literally have tears welling up in my eyes when I read your post.
I really understand your agony. I have the same for 30 years 2-5 times a year. It's devastating. But I'm so glad to have found people like you online, realizing that I'm not alone with this undiagnosed gut problem. I commented many times already in other forums, that's why I felt I'm over-doing it a bit and decided to stop reply posting (since these threats are normally many years old and super unorganized, therefore no replies) but once in a while I come across a post like yours, I cannot help feeling deeply touched: I could have written your words!
Nobody believes me when I say I feel like dying everytime. I'm a male, so I don't know about labour pains....but I found many women in these forums stating it's more agonizing then labour pain. That was what I instinctively compared it with. But at least in labour pains you still have the strength to scream! But nobody takes me serious. Nobody ever saw me during an attack.....as you know if they would.....everybody would be so shocked and call the ambulance. Cannot even lift a finger, or breath, totally weak and just waiting for the end or faint (which at least stops the torture). Three years ago I had an episode so strong for nearly 2 hours. It came suddenly, tried to go down the stairs, legs give away and I tumble down the stairs. Bruised and broken made it to the toilet. This time with puking, and then I felt my heart stopping once in a while..........I knew if I would be older or weaker my heart would not make it. That was the most scared I'd ever been. But after that I tried self medication.
With the next attack 3month later I took against my instincts 2 pills of Loperamid (Imodium). MY DEAR GOODNESS IT HELPED IN MINUTES! Ever since as soon as I feel the slightest sign of an imminant attack I take one or two Loperamid. And in around 5-10 min it aborts the progression into the colics, spasms, sweating, fainting etc. It was a revelation. It works reliable. What a relieve. All Loperamid does is stopping the bowel peristaltic (movement) for a short time. And that excatly is what's causing the vasovagal syncope and dhiarrhea liquification. I thought the evil gut content has to come out asap that's why I was worried to take this anti dhiarrhea medication. But when I realized that the purging process could kill me I gave it a try. And it works wonderfully. I always have the pills with me... literally on my body... always. I take it even as a provilactic on travels airplane bus etc....where I feel after eating I could get into serious trouble (imagine getting this on the airplane toilet:(((()
Therefore I want to share my findings with you (and others). And I pray that it could help you also, getting this strange condition under control and loosing fear over its power to ruin our life. Until we find out how to cure or prevent it, at least I found a way to manage it for the time being.
My best wishes for your health
May you be strong
