Yeast is for sure not a bacteria. It's a fungus.

I am a 20-year-old female. I noticed a small bump, the size of a pin head, on my right labia minora about a week ago. That day I worked out vigorously and ran long distances, which I normally do not do. I also masturbated that night by rubbing my clitoris after I showered. I woke up the morning after and noticed the bump, swelling, and soreness. after a day, the pin size bump disappeared but my surrounding labia minora around my clitoris is swollen a bit and has been for a week. I doubt it is an STI because the last and only time I had sex was over a year ago with another virgin and we used a condom. I am starting my period today, and it now feels like I am getting a UTI because i have somewhat of an urge to urinate a lot. I also occasionally get cloudy urine which may be related to this, but I am not sure because I have had it for as long as I can remember. I would like to know what could have caused this swelling. contact with a dirty toilet surface? tight clothing? masturbation? pubic hair removal? etc? I would like to know what to do about it. I would also like to know when this will go away.

How did your issue resolve? I'm having a similar issue.

Wow. Some people are horribly misinformed and actually think they know what they are talking about. Lol. YEAST IS A FUNGUS, NOT A BACTERIA! But I noticed how you called the other person "stupid" who actually knew what they were talking about.

yeast are fungi... bacteria are far less complex organisms. do some research before calling people names.

Haha the irony! It's not bacteria. Yeast is a fungal infection. Fungal infections are different than bacterial infections, cupcake.

your completely missing the point. Thrush is an oral bacteria your not going to get it in or around your vagina. It most definitely more common in infants when things (such as bottles, pacifiers) are not properly sanitized. but as well in elder sick folk may get it as well

I really don't know where you have got your information from but thrush is a yeast infection yeast will form in any warm damp area from the mouth, armpits under breasts on larger ladies between the testiculs and upper thigh on men known as jock itch, internally and externally on the vagina and between the toes athletes foot they are all forms of yeast infection.
You need to use Google and look up thrush and read the results on it!

Thank goodness I found this website, I was freaking out wondering if it was just me that had caught something and wether I'd have to go to my doctors embarrassingly and ask for something! Overall, what do you recommend the best remedy being for this?

Wash with any soft antibacterial soap *even the dish soap. Stops the swelling and should help immediately. Otherwise wash yourself and your hands with a neutral plain soap, and apply a cream or oil. Coconut oil is great, neosporin+pain relief is great, olive oil or vaeline in a pinch. It's cost effective, works fast, and its discreet. This is more common nowdays because of our society's habbits. Get it checked out or change your diet up if it persists longer than a few days
