I too have same problem. I also have urticaria which is really hugely annoying. My lips today are really bad. Tingly tongue and itchy throat.

Its all upsetting me now as my poor legs are ripped raw with the scratching from the urticaria and now my lips are an amazing example of a trout pout.

I had tests many years ago and they said there wasnt an actual reason. Typical.

A majority of you have hives because of antibiotics you took. Most of them are a type of pressure hive. This also causes swelling in the lips, and even sometimes in the eyes.

i've recently gotten a swollen tongue after drinking diet coke. does anyone know which ingredient it's likely to be?
fizzy jelly sweets and certain fruit, strawberries and pineapple for instant make my cheeks tingle!
these are all relatively new afflictions and i'm 28...

I've tried to do some research on my swollen lips. For one morning I just woke up and I looked like Angelina Jolie (or my lips at least). They were all red an swollen. I did NOT feel like going to class. After I research some, I found that many people out there are allergic to sodium laureth. This is an agent put into face washes, soaps, cleaning detergents... its a cheap way to make the product suds. After I stopped using anything with that agent in it my lips went back to normal. Although, just the other day my lips swelled a little bit AGAIN! I think it might have been some face lotion that I bought for a temporary use. My lips are burning now and chapped, then there is also a the area around my lips that is all dry. Ugh, it is horrible. I just want to take all my makeup off and hold a cold cloth to my face for the entire day. Oh, and I failed to mention that when my lips swelled there was also some pus or something that came out of the top of my lips. With that said, if anyone has any additional info, that would be helpful. I'm skeptical about going to the dermatologist... I don't know if they will be able to find out what is going on or not. Thanks and I'm glad that I'm not alone in this slight embarrassing reaction.

I woke up this morning with a scare. My lips were all puffy and quite numb. I had been itching all over my body most of the night so I was happy to see this website with others having simular symtoms. It appears to be an allergy.

I really want to say a BIG thank you to this forum and all people who posted about swollen lips!

Two days ago my lips felt dry so I used my hubby's new Chapstick - with sunblock. Felt right away that something was strange. My lips became sore and in a couple of hours my under lip felt thick. Looked in the mirror and almost screamed - I had an Angeling lip!

Took Sudafed 12 hours and Loratidine (Clarityn) without getting any relief. Later on I took a sip of Benadryl - hate it and try to avoid it because I'm entering a world I don't want to be in. But the Benadryl helped, not all the way, but the lip started to go down. That's when I realized I was swollen down from my cheek to my chin too. Like a couple of sausages on either side of my mouth. At one point in there, the upper side of one of my feet started to itch for a long while as well. Didn't swell though.

Yesterday my lip was back to normal, but the sausages was still there. In the afternoon I got an itch just above the left side of my upperlip. Scratched and just minutes after the left side of the lip started to swell. God, I looked good......

Again Benadryl helped a little - so now, the morning of the third day, I'm sitting here searching for a cause, and see that more people really have had problems with Chapstick and similiar stuff!

So People - STAY AWAY FROM CHAPSTICK!!
And if you try to find a reason to your swollen face - try to remember if you put anything on your lips - or even if you kissed someone that had something on their lips! Or, if you're really senitive, have been eating something that someone else took a bite off and had used Chapstick, or another brand with something in it that you are allergic to..............

I too have woken up this morning with a huge swelling to the left of my bottom lip, caused, i think, by a cold sore treatment my sister gave me. I had a cold sore appear on wednesday, my sister gave me some Cymex cream for cold sores and cracked lips, which i have used to the manufacturers instructions, and this morning, (friday) i woke looking like i had done a few rounds with Amiir Khann! i have ceased use of the Cymex and hope the swelling will go down soon!

Hello: I've been experiencing tingly sensations on my lower lip and sometimes the tip of my tongue. It's not swollen, but it feels like a sensation when one is allergic to something. I've never had this and I'm not eating anything unusual. It's almost everyday that I'm having these sensations. What can it be and should I consult a doctor? Thank you.

At the moment my lips are sore, itchy and weeping..

my lips have only swelled three times. first time was late march and the latest two were a day apart. my lips will burn, then swell. they don't itch, but it makes me nervous. i'm a smoker and i thought maybe that was it. i try chapstick, but that usually makes it worse. any suggestions?

Just found out from an Allergist MD that lip-swelling is a classic symptom casued by some ACE type blood pressure medicines. Hopefully explains why I had lip swelling during my sleep on three instances...apparently this can develop anytime during the use of some blood pressure meds, like benazepril...which is what I am taking.

I have been having instances of swollen lips with the last one being the worst. It starts with tingling on one side and eventually moves around the whole lip. This time even after taking steroids it moved to my bottom lip and took a total of two days to go away. I was wondering if anyone else is taking blood pressure medication Uniretic.
