This can also be a sign of HD. Not many doctors know about this symptom because of how rare it is.

This happened to me as well. It started after having my last baby. It was a C-section. I have no idea if it contributed somehow, but I am pretty sure I now have some sort of autoimmune disease. I had a biopsy done to rule out lymphoma, but I have yet to go to the rheumatologist for further testing. It really sucks, the type of alcohol doesn't matter, I simply cannot drink two days in a row, even if I only have a sip, my nodes swell like a balloon and I get pains in my lower left back. Sometimes after dealing with a toddler all day, a glass of wine is all I want, but nope... :/

No. It doesn't. Alcohol contains alcohol. That's it.

For people who don't understand inflammation and their immune systems, you must know these things:
a) When your immune system is under attack it feels as if you are sick.. this is what infection also does to you. The same way a heroin addict feels sick without heroin - the body feels this way under attack.
b) Inflammation is caused by alcohol, foods and other factors and if you consume too much, you will have a problem, especially if you are sensitive.
c) Inflammation is a major cause for asthma, arthritis, joint pain and a host of other problems.

I've been dealing with issues like this not only from alcohol but from wheat, dairy, processed sugars and environmental factors for years and it really sucks. You think you can get away with it this time and you really can't.

This is happening to me now too. If I have 2 glasses of wine, the next morning my R lymph node is huge and L is not as big but is inflamed and can be sensitive to touch. I feel better finding out other's have this and that it is not uncommon. I suppose our bodies change as we age (I'm now 56). I've always had great health, athletic running marathons, bicycle racing, yoga, juicing. This scared me and a friend of mine who's son go Hodgkin's Lymphoma so I went to the doctor and got a full work up. No cancer. I had 2 glasses of wine last night at a birthday dinner, woke up with my right lymph node huge and thought I'd google. I'm SO glad this topic is here and I know now no more wine. Don't need it, don't want swollen lymph nodes so problem fixed. Thank you!

Get an STD check, your immune system is struggling maybe from Chlamydia etc. You could have no symptoms, but that why you get the flu/ sick every couple months!

found this looking for an explanation of my swollen lymph (between the neck and posterior jawbone) - it's been swollen for over a year and a half, doc just keeps dismissing it, and it's getting more uncomfortable (I think it's straining my vision on that side), wondering about getting an ultrasound or something. Also, I tend to get the alcohol flush reaction even though I'm not asian.

Allergies is also a BIG BIG part everyone seems to be missing. Whiskey and other liquors are made with rye, barley, grains. They're also stored in Oak barrels. Ever think to stop pouring allergens down your throat?? I've had these head, neck, shoulder, issues for years and also bad hangovers. Just recently my lympnoads have started swelling. It all started about 3 months ago.. Crown royal. I always had bad hangovers to Bud products. Also worse with ground beef. Hmm.. Wonder if the beef is grain fed as well. Well it stinks but I will no longer be drinking Crown Royal. Not sure if it's the oak barrels (always had horrible allergies week after and during the hunting season sitting in a white oak tree) or the rye, barley. (GRAINS)

I've been experiencing swollen neck glands for a year. I also have a skin condition. I have gotten drs attention. There is inflammatory arthritis...that's been diagnosed. Something is going on with my immune system. I'm still in the midst of diagnoses. One dr thinks it's psoriatic arthritis another one says it's lichen sclerosus, lupus or scleroderma. I neglected to mention that I drink red wine 2bottels in one night. Weekly. My feeling is that I have something related to liver disease

Thank you for the info. I've been researching this for a while and never found any helpful answers until your post.

It sounds like you've had a double on set of the Epstein Barr Virus followed by Mono. 50% of people that get mono also have EBV. Epstein Barr stays with you your whole life and can be inactive or become activated, once activated it can be influenced by external influences such as too much sugar, not enough sleep and alcohol.

Although your reactions to alcohol could be an allergy it could be as a result from Chronic Fatigue which is known to be caused from EBV or Hodgkin's Lymphoma, which is extremely rare, but also suspected to be caused by EBV.
