I have been experiencing some of the same symptoms - swolen feeling, like something is caught in my throat, and shortness of breath. But is seems to be triggered when I get stressed. I noticed it swells when I was playing an intense videogame, or when arguing. It stays for a month or so, then as I relax, it dissappears. It has been recurring for about 6 months now. I went to the doc, and he seems to think it is acid reflux. He prescribed me meds for that.....

Hi there, the floaters have nothing to do with your depression. They're little imicroorganisms that live in your eye. There's nothing bad or unusual about them. They're just there, so don't worry about it. Does that help at all?

hello healthfitnessguy,

The thing which makes me worried is that these floaters came out 3 weeks after I had depression and anxiety. I see them inside too or on my laptop screen. Maybe they come from the stress too. I went to an opthmologist to make a test of my eyes and he told me my eyes are very fine !!

Hi, I also have the same problem going on. It starts with being difficult to swallow, which sends me into a panic and then it feels as if my throat is swelling up. I'm sure it isn't and that it's just panic. My sister has the same problem when she was about forty and the doctor gave her vallium as he said it would relax the muscles. It did work but she then became dependent on them, which is something to be avoided if possible. Im sipping herbal tea and trying to distract myself. I had a few glasses of wine last night which helped, but then It feels worse this morning as alcohol, I guess, makes my anxiety worse. Im seeing an aromatherapist soon. When I eat and drink, it feels worse too. The only thing that stops it (and me feeling paicky) is going to sleep!

Anxiety panic attacks can be caused by TMJ disorder(jaw), which also closes the throat and makes it hard to breathe, and a neck problem will also cause anxiety panic attacks, if you have TMJ then you will have neck problems, because the jaw muscles and neck muscles work together.

I have suffered from anxiety panic attacks for 20 years, and recently found out it came from a combination of TMJ and neck isssues.

Treatment: Find an upper cervical chiropractor who deals with TMJ, he can reset your jaw and neck to get rid of the anxiety, it may get worse before it gets better, and will take more then 1 appointment, look at going 3 times per week for 2 to 3 months.

Proof: Lat year I had it under control was able to even jog 3.5 miles per day, with only the occasion light attack (once a month maybe less) then 1 day three months ago was lying down eating popcorn, stood up and I felt a nasty pain in my neck and it felt like it my head dropped an inch, the two following days nasty anxiety attacks, nor feel anxiety everyday, along with dizziness, closed throat etc etc.

That is proof that it originates from the upper neck where there are a ton of nerves.

Off to the upper cervical chiropractor I go.

Another tip, stay away from coffee, coffee cause the fight to flight mode, acts like an amphetamine, which is basically what anxiety panic attacks are. This will not cure it, but may lessen the frequency and severity of the attacks. Heat heat heat, relaxes nerves, if heat makes it worse the ice for a day before to reduce inflammation then heat.

I had this happen today for the second time. the first time was about 4 years ago when O woke up about 430am and felt like I was itching. I wen to take a shower and began to swell up allover. My breathing began to shutdown and I got really scared. I was in the middle of know-where. I wonder wheather to call 911 or go for help. I decided to got for help and drove 9 mile to the closest EMS station and began pound on the door. no one ca,e so I went in ab woke one of the EMT's up. I could not breath and collasped then. They got me in the unit and hit me with benidryal, it seems to help I could breath again. Then about a minute or 2 later I began shutting down again. He hit me with Epi them I came unglued. My heart seemed like it was going to explode. When we got to the ER they kept me there 4 hours and relaeased me saying they could not find any thing.

Over the past few years I have woke up not being able to nreat several time but got threw it thinking it was just sleep apnea or th way I slept.

Today I had a injection in my back and this happened again with me passing out and not being able to breath. total throat shutdown. Fortunately I was in the Docs office. I was ble to relax enough to get all my functions back and regain my abality to breath. I Had shortness of breath before my throat shut down. This is scary stuff especially when I live a long way away form medicial help.

Doc said it was probally anxiety attack.

I have been experiencing the same kind of thing for the last few years.  It always seems to precede a cold.  It feels like my throat is  swelling up and I can't take a deep breath.  It can be very scary, and can cause a bit of panic.  It feels a little like heartburn because it is right in my throat, but when it gets really bad it feels like I could die!  I still don't know what it is, but I found that if I suck on menthol cough drops, it takes away the swelling, and relieves my symptoms for a bit.  I can breathe! At times I am sucking on them all day long and night, but after a few days it goes away.  I thought maybe it was something related to asthma, but I'm not sure.  I have not seen a dr. for it since the cough drops seem to do the trick!  Anyway, try it and let me know what you think.

I totally agree with you . I mean I started to have panic attacks since 2 years now. Some of the medicine I take to control my attacks such as lorazepam and another one to control my heart beats. I just recently starte to control my panic attacks but now the problem is strong pressure around my neck especially at night time. It is getting worse day by day I wonder of it throat cancer. I became very paranoid since 2 years now.

Just don't think about it. I had it for about 1-2 weeks then it stopped because I didn't care anymore. The more you think about it, it won't leave you.
