I am a male 55years old, have been on Symbicort a full year now. I now have weight gain, distended stomach (looks like beer gut ) and frequent urination as found with most steroids. These are the problems the vet said my dog would have while on preganzone (steriod).
I did not have these issues before Symbicort. I live in Wisconsin and find the need to use twice daily in the winter months and really notice the side effects this winter.
Yes, since I have been using this inhaler (1/2 of the normal dose and the lowest) I have not been able to lose weight at all. My stomach is fat now and I don't even eat that much, and even when I cut back, I don't lose weight.
That's what my doctor said too however I have increased my exercise and decreased calories to try to control the weight gain- it is an uphill battle.
I do. I take symbicort since years and everytime I take it, I'm getting more "chubby" especially my face. Everytime I stop taking it, I get slimer.
I HEAR EVERYONE I started using Symbicort back in Sept 2014 and have steadily gained weight and have put on 23 lbs and it keeps coming. I am not eating any more but the weight is still coming. I am stopping this today and going back to my ventolin. I have had a real problem first went thru change of life, then quit smoking, now the symbicort but another 23lbs on. OMG I was 120 now 176, what a porker. I will get this weight off now that I have seen these other replys. Thank you sharing. Also I couldn't get my weight off either now I now it is the steroid. Never in life did I have a weight problem until now.
just started to search. i am taking tudorza genuair and symbicort and i had a serious gain weight, also bloathing, diarrhea, digestive problems, cramps ... i don't know which one does it.

Thank you to all have posted before on this subject, I have been taking Symbacourt for about 6 months and have had a gradual yet continuous weight gain, th elast month my appetite has been insatiable. This is the third inhaled steriod I have used, the first many years ago I gained 30 Lbs and the weight gain stopped immediatly when I stoppped the medication. Yet my doctor continues to say it has no effect on weight.
Thank you, I will need to argue that with my doctor also, nice to know some of the weight came off when you stopped using it.
Yes I have gained a lot of weight but my appetite has not increased. I also have foot cramps often....
my face changed since starting Symbicort. I now have the "moon face" . I am so frustrated
