Hello!
My son has a problem. He is already a teenager (12 years old), but he is still wetting his bed and clothes at night. How long will this last? What should we do?

3 % of 12-year-olds still wet their beds, so your son is not the only one. Eventually this will stop, but I suppose it will take some time.
Mostly the cause is small bladder, so your son must learn to control urination and most teenagers can learn to use the toilet during the night.
It is important that he gets used to using toilet. Do not let him drink any drinks at least 2 hours before bed time, especially drinks based on caffeine. He must go to the toilet before he goes to bed. These are few practical advices. Most important for him is to learn to control bladder. If nothing else let him make alarm clock 4 hours after he goes to bed and if he feels the urge, he will go, when alarm clock will wake him in the middle of the night. If nothing else, you can always talk to your physician and ask him or her for practical advice.
Best wishes!

this happened to my son when he was about 13, usually it is them getting ready for puberty and their bodies are growing, causing the bladder to also grow, causing some wetting accidents. This is normal and 4 percent of all teens go through this. my son out grew it in a year and he still wets the bed at age 15. My solution is one that they might find uneasy and embarrassing at first, but it is much less embarrassing than having wet pants at school. I made my son wear a pullup to school and a diaper at bed to night. He got used to it in a week and thanked me for it because now everyone at his school forgot about his wetting and they never realized he wore a pullup. a few weeks later he also started pooping his pants at school so we had to make him wear real diapers to school too which some kids found out about but they were nice about it. He stopped doing this in a year.

We have a newly adopted 15 year old daughter whom we have had fo four months now and she has daytime accidents and wets the bed some,so we are using cloth pin on diapers and adult size rubberpants on her 24/7.We chose those rather than disposables because they are cheaper in the long run.

When our daughter was 13,she was the type that would get nervous and start to shake and would wet her pants once in a while! When she was going to be in a situation where she would probably get nervous,we had her wear a pull up which helped. When she was 14,she finially made her First Holy Communion with the 2nd graders and being the oldest in the class.i knew she would be nervous and more than likely have an accident. She had to wear the poofy communion dress and veil with the lace anklets and white shoes,so,i did a disposable diaper on her with white plastic pants over it under her dress.Sure enough, during the ceremony, she wet and i had an extra disposable diaper in my purse,so right after the ceremony,i changed her out of the wet diaper. She wore the diaper and plastic pants for her party and up untill bed time. After that i kept the package of disposable diapers and the pair of plastic pants with them in her closet and when ever the need arose again, she wore a disposable diaper and the plastic pants!

When our daughter started puberty at age 12,she also started wetting the bed every night,so to save money and the environment,we put her into cloth diapers and rubberpants at night.About a half hour before bedtime, she would lay on her bed,i would slide the diapers under her, apply the powder, pin the diapers on,then pull the rubberpants up her legs and over the diapers. She wore them untill well past 14 then stopped the bedwetting!

Our daughter is 15 and will be finially making her First holy communion this comming May 2nd.She has all ready been told that she is going to wear a cloth diaper and adult size rubberpants under her communion in case she has an accident.I have heard that disposable diapers can get itchy after a while and cause irratation. Other moms have told me that the cloth diaper and rubberpants works the best under the communion dresses.

Yes,as a catholic mom,i know this is true! Only the cloth diapers and rubberpants under the communion dresses represent the girls purity of their baptisms as babies at our parish. They are not supposed to be wet in.
